CLOSED: DJ9'S WINTER ROBIN " IN FLIGHT " PT 5
Got the nest today, wow, a lot to go through, I am in heaven, Will try to get it off tomorrow afternoon, have a quiet morning, will let you know when she flies.
Don't you just want to pour all the bags out onto your carpet and roll around in them?
Corey
One more person then it's my turn! I can't wait!!!
Linda
March 1 is looking better and better! What is the prize going to be for guessing the correct date?
Kobwebz,
Thank you!. A good laugh is one of the few pleasures that's non-fattening and carbon-neutral.
I would add "moral and legal", but some of the "humor" from our youths would now be considered in seriously poor taste.
But I was almost serious about rolling around in mounds of seeds!
When I found just the right pine bark product, my first mental image was a sandbox full of it, with ... BZZT ... naked ... CRACKLE BUZZ ... cavorting ...
My email seems to be breaking up. Is DG having a problem with it's server?
Corey
LoL Corey you are too much!
Dave does have 2 brothers, but they are both married. Lots of seeds to package and add to the box this am,may not get it out til tomorrow. Have to see if my daughter comes home to cover the kids for me.
checking in..... apparently I am next. I haven't been online like I should be, DH and I have been sick for the past 2 weeks - now I think I have an ear infection. I missed time at work, so now I am working like a whirling dervish to try to get caught up.....
I will have seeds that I will be sending on a to one basis as I had seeds that were not dry by the time the robin initially took off.
Stay warm everyone!
Gm All
Annette : Has Know reason to roll in seeds when she has a guy to roll with in the garden :)

found lot's of goodies. Met Dave 4 years ago on tomorrow on Cupid.com. You can fall in love in your 50's. He is such a Blessing to me. He didn't have a flower on his property when we met and he is now more obsessed than I am.
The bird has flown the coup. Added about 150 packs of seeds at least 30 varieties, as all that I had contributed early in the game were gone. Have fun Carolyn. Cost $10 to send. confirmation # is 03082690000186256529 weight is 6 lb. 10.60 oz.
I didn't take any offense Sherman.
LoL @Sherman too funny

Jennifer
Going thru my seeds and will post later today or Sunday some time.
Good grief, I didn't realize I had so many seeds!!
Now a question?
DOES ANY ONE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SEEDS COLLECTED FROM 2009 AND KEPT IN A DARK COOL ROOM?
Please state if you don't and I won't include them, but I have sown seeds that have been from 6 to 10 yrs. old by keeping them in a dk. and cool room. No problem, generally have to find people who will take them off my hands.

The seeds I think will be fine from 2009. I also had seeds that are over 5 year old and I had no problem with those seeds.
Jennifer
Folks, I am so impressed with this group. I can't believe how "on top of it" you all are. And generous! Have NEVER been in a round robin that moves so quickly and without a hitch. In the past there are always a few "corkers" in the group, and at times, the robins have just disappeared. Susie, you are the best group leader, too.
Ok, have spent the morning going thru the seeds and will try and list them. Only from 2009 and 2010. Rest I will start in the greenhouse and later post if they emerge.
1-Helenium red [perennial] [3]
2-Helenium autumnola loys [perennial] [3]
3-Helenium autumnala wynd [perennial [3]]
4-red/orange center marigold [annual] [3]
5-dwarf coreopsis [think perennial] [4]
Breaking for dinner, DH is starving to death!!

Maxine, I would like a small amout of each of the seeds you have listed above.
I do a lot of containers, and would hope to have one or two containers for each ... so I do not think I need that many seeds.
MARY
I'm willing to try a few of the HELENIUMS
I Think maryellen can tell you that when I Had a couple RR's Go Missing From another Garden spot & I Have learned since then to get more info & Screne just a little better to get those that are trully into Gardening
& When someone Do not follow guidelines then they are dropped .
but we do have some honest & eager players I Have gotten some great seeds to plants .
from the last 3-4 robins i cannot keep track how many this makes :) But So Far we have not lost any ROBINS .
& Its Thanks to all of you.
hope everyone is haven a great weekend
Susie, I have a package of gaillardia and others for you. will just put the packages of the heleniums in and you can take out what you want, ok?
Mary, what I listed above is not for containers. They grow around 2' to 3' tall. I have them mixed in my flower beds as they blossom from Aug. thru frost when their is not much else blooming other than some mums.
Hope this helps you.
going thru my seeds, I will look and post what I think would be good for your containers.
Maxine
Looks like it. Make sure you keep them away from the foundation though, soil amended also.
Maxine
Well, back to listing seeds.
1-poppies, all in a plastic baggie [separate baggies] take what you want. I think most of them are annuals.

4-lavatera arborea variegated, common name Malva perennial [1]
5-south african foxglove annual [1]
6-love-lies-bleeding annual [1] can be very invasive
7-Royal Blue butter fly bush perennial [1]
8-pretty purple pepper [1] could be ornamental
9-butterfly milkweed [1]
10-Cosmos [candy stripe] annual [1]

13-Calendula [mixed colors] [1]
14-Marigold "Mars" annual [1]
15-french marigold [orange] annual [1]
16-chives [1]
17-goats beard perennial [1]
18-orange marigold annual [1 envelope]
19-shasta daisy perennial [1]
20-blanket flower annual blooms from July thru frost [1]
Maxine
Maxine, if possible, may i have some Goat's Beard and some Mars Marigold?
I want the marigold for window box planters on back deck.
And I think the goat's beard would be nice in each corner in the rear of my property.
Maxine, I haven't decided whether or not to join the next round, but would be happy to reimburse postage for your...
Pretty Purple Pepper and
Chives
Same goes for anybody else who has extra herb seeds. I'd love to try Goat's Beard too, and other White Perennials that grow well in Zone 7a. The easier, the better.
Fruit, will try and send them out the first of this coming week.
Maxine
