Lilies 2010 - Part 3

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Here is my little side garden - even though the lilies are not as prolific as in most years, the daylilies are doing well.

Steve, love your white one whichever it is!

I am still looking for a good red asiaitc. My RED ALERTS are still tiny & have no buds again this year this is year 3. There are soooo out of here. I will get some mature bulbs No more babie bulbs for me.

DESERT SONG...I love this one...such a pretty soft orange.

Steves tall whites look like trumpets.I have something similar Species Regals.I wouldnt be qualified to guarantee my guess.

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Thanks ge and polly - it does smell nice - especially at night.

ge, I think it is "American Flame" - got it a few years back and has been really tall and terrific ever since. I did have a couple buds abort however due to the heat :-(. Not the best picture but belo is a closer view from Friday eve.

nanny, I love your "Desert Song". Thanks for the nice words on the white one - I am tending to think it is Gizmo since I planted only three of them (somewhere) and I planted 6 "Hacienda" and these are no others like it in bloom yet. Plus, the LO's bloom before the OT's and my two other confirmed LO's (Long Island and Bright Brilliant) are both in bloom now.

Bev, I have to stake my taller OT's and many of my trumpets as well.

Hola Steve! My husband and I were commenting how this June seems to be as hot as a July or August. Even my salvias are wilting badly. ugh!

I think your lily gardens look great. Maybe we'll get lucky and get a cold front that will help lilies. I have a few from last year that I don't see which should be doing well here. Could be this heat.

Brandon, FL(Zone 9b)

the heat is unbearable this year...not just for plants..for us too..gotta garden early in the morning, or late evening (then I get to deal with the 'skeeters')

jmorth, I really like Red Bell - but how did you get an Oriental to bloom so early - even the few I have have are not even close yet, assuming they make it!!

Good to see you Nery - yes it has been horrible and Lili and I were just commenting on "just like July and August" on the peony forum. It is terrible - but then we were having too nice a spring so I guess this has to make up for it! Like you my stuff wilts pretty quicly and I am constantly watering at night when the sun starts to set.

Divernon, IL(Zone 5b)

must be in it's genes Steve, last yr it bloomed mid June this yr a week sooner...

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

How many stems are in that pic of Red Bell? It looks like 1 really loaded stem.

Divernon, IL(Zone 5b)

I believe it is but one. A very symmetrical one.

Elgin, IL(Zone 5a)

Hope you don't mind my posting The Vamp again but I have to recommend it as a nice sized flower and a truly unfading red with strong stems. It's blowing me away!
