What's for dinner? Pt 2

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Ronnie I don't really have a recipe ... I put a cup of bourbon on the steaks about an hour before cooking.. cook the steaks in a pan (I try to use my stainless one so the bits stick)... I usually put salt, pepper & olive oil on them before cooking.. once you have them cooked the way you want.. take them out and tent them with foil to keep warm.. if there isn't enough fat in the pan add either butter or olive oil.. sprinkle a couple of tablespoons of flower.. get the rue to a light brown color.. got to keep it moving... slowly whisk in the bourbon make sure the lumps are gone (I have an electric stove.. if you have a gas one you might want to turn the flame off when you pour it in)... add seedless segmented oranges cook them for a min until they are warm... add beef stock.. and a tablespoon of brown sugar...let it reduce a bit.. take off the heat add a pat of butter

some times I add some spice to the steaks before cooking like Cajun seasoning or just straight up cayenne pepper.. gives them a spicy sweet flavor

North Augusta, ON

Which movie? I want to see Julie and Julia so bad!

The last movie I saw in an actual theatre was "Who Framed Roger Rabbit"...

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Oh! Do go see Julie and Julia--it was wonderful!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You can rent it.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

It is, however, theater worthy...

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Still playing????

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

I think so for the Holidays--and it's up for lots of awards, which are coming up soon. I saw it advertised playing somewhere around here.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Saw J&J last week, (and copied it too! lol!)

Yesterday was King crab with steak fries and salad (and a lot of champagne!)
- Today is leftover pot roast & potatoes from the day before, with a 2 layer devils food cake DW just made as dessert, (of course I must add ice-cream to help 'smooth' it down... ☺!)

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

avatar is a good one

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Julie and Julia is on Demand on cable and is excellent!! I thought it was sad that Julia didnt like Julie.

Avatar was a real treat! (My brother got me AMC gift cards for xmas:-)See it in 3D.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Is Avatar really interesting or just wow special effects?

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Both. Good story line and over the top special effects.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Saw Avatar...mixed feelings...visual effects in 3D are over the top...acting and story were a bit corny for me, and it's really really long!! One to watch on the big screen though...

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Avatar has been recommended to me by friends also.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Don't think I would like it.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

your kids would - did not see it in 3D - that would be pretty cool.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

DD saw it with a friend and in 3D
Had a houseful yesterday. Pork roast and sauerkraut. The rest was potluck. Not sure if it's leftovers tonight or something else.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

leftover turkey and lasagna here

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Pizza night tonight, from the best Italian pizzeria in Brookhaven! Yipee!!

North Augusta, ON

As for the movie I'll probably end up waiting for it to be on TV. I've got a whole list I'm waiting for to be on TV. Then I have to hope DH has something to do when it's on or I'm out of luck. He'll sit there and purposely stare away from the TV at the wall, making all kinds of deep sigh noises...or decide to vacuum. Or he'll wander off 'til the last 20 minutes and I miss the end because he won't shut up trying to guess what happened or have me explain what happened to him. Oh well, when he dies I'll have lots of movie watching to catch up on.

I found a reduced price rib steak so it's in the crock pot with some mushrooms. Brussel sprouts simmered in butter to go with.

Sorry for the rant, can you tell I'm having an anti-hubby day today? LOLOL

Probably be pulled pork BBQ, some kind of taters, and a veggie. Bachelor night,LOL. Holly's off to the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, with her daughter and a couple of grand kids. She was a volunteer diver there, so she knows where the treasures are buried. Ric

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

I love diners! Was it one of those railroad car looking ones?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No, but a classic looking one. I love them too. Great food and large portions for reasonable prices.
