I love leeks in any dish, but don't care for potatoes in soups. I'm a sucker for any kind of good bean soup.

I sometimes make a clear vegetable broth soup called the 7 lilies soup. It has leeks, red onions, white onions, shallots, garlic, scallions, ginger and carrots. It's a wonderful light soup full of good nutrients.

Potagere, I like your Endive recipe. Do they carmelize when cooking? That would help with the bitterness, so would the orange. Yes, I did find the Juniper. Mine was so old, it really had no flavor at all. I made a clear potato gratin in goose stock that called for it and you really couldn't even taste them. It probably was a good thing, given the young folks I served it to.

Sounds good Lilyhostaky. Did you ever try it in a crock pot?

Either a spicy Pork Stew with roasted tomatoes, roasted peppers, corn, black beans, and spices.

Or creamy chicken noodle with homemade stock, egg noodles, chicken, celery, carrot, thyme, parsley, and a little cream.

Couldnt be any of those you
mentioned above because
we have them all yea round
thanks to air conditioning!

Daddy always celebrated the
first cool front of the season
by making gembo udually
sausafe/chicken.... Another
I ONLy do duting cold days
is lasagne because it takes
so long to put together and
so many ingredients and is
baked.

We only make real scratch
authentic Mexican inchiladas
at Chrstmas/ New Years
week because so many
ingredients and so many steps
and it take moe than one pair
of hands to assemble !

Isnt it too bad you can only get
tirkeys during about 30 days
per year???

stormyla

I haven't tried it in a crockpot yet, but sometimes soon I will
I think that if it cooked in a crockpot it probably would taste better

We can buy turkeys any time here, but they are frozen. Fresh is only available around the holidays.

Yes, stormy, it does sort of caramelize. Really, good!
