This is an Oriental so I am not sure why it is blooming now!

Maniac...That pic of Tibetan Snow almost looks obscene ^_^, but I'll need some of those. Are they pollenless?...And when do your Orientals normally bloom? Later in the season?...BTW, thanks for the d-mail last week.

As for not liking the weather this year. You're getting what we had last year, which we called the year of no summer, cool and rainy all June/July/Aug. This year we are having record breaking warm temps. High 80's (we broke 90 last week), very low humidity and minimal rain. The temps are cooking my lilies (and me) and washing out the colors.

Wow, such beauty! Especially love those seedlings. Can't imagine how proud you seedling parents must be.

Delighted to have White Henryi blooming.

Also bicolor Henryi, from Buggy. Surprised at how early this one bloomed. New for me this year.

You folks have me in lily-dreamland. I can't even begin to mention all the ones that just blow me away!

I was so happy to go out today and find that my Henryi in alive and blooming. I thought it was dead and gone after a late freeze a year or two ago. Guess it shows never to give up on a lily just because it disappears for a year or two. Moby, so you remember how long ago that late freeze was that got a lot of lilies around here?

Stargazer had made it through 2 winters now and that may be a record for me with an Oriental. have it in a narrow strip between the house and driveway and it seems to like it there.

Diamonds in a short one that came from one of the co-ops. This is my first year growing them in pots and I'm finding 3 per pot was a mistake because a lot of the blooms have been so crowded they don't open right or get pollen all over each other. May try these in the ground this Fall.

King Kong was moved last Fall and is much shorter than normal this year. I gave it a trellis since I know it will get tall and need some support.

lincolnitess...Great pics! What program did you use to get the 3 in one shots with the colored background (post # 6818766).
How cold do you drop down to in the winter? Curious re: Stargazer making it through...

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

We get maybe 15 degrees below zero at the lowest. I think the heat from my house and the cement driveway on the otherside offer some protection from the cold. My main problem with Orientals is the drainage, not the cold. Others in this zone seem to grow them without problems.

I used Picasa 3 to do the collage. Here is a link to the free download. I use it for all my photo editing.

Susan, it was 2 years ago ('07) that froze so many lilies and irises. Last year was an iris bonanza while the lilies bulked up their babies. This year is lily madness with all those juveniles blooming.

Thanks Moby. I knew it had been awhile since I'd seen some of these.

Mainiac, you're getting some nice ones. I especially like Dots and Dashes and Mango.

I have had Mango for many, many years. And it keeps on ticking!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Really? i've never heard of it before but I think it's beautiful!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

I just looked at that bicolored henryi again and it sure is furry!

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

What a nice day for blooming lilies! It seems like my LOs are late, my asiatics are off and my orientals are early, or it could be that they are the only ones who are on time.

Here is Seedling DC #3 It seems more organized than number two.

All 3 of those DC seedlings are nice. I think I like the Drunken Artist one better than #3. Guess I like disorganization. Those big dots on it are really interesting.

Jamaica Plain, MA(Zone 6a)

I definitely like the Drunken Artist name for that one.

Oooh, that is neat... :) Has it finally warmed up there, Ramona? Or are you still wearing parkas?

Poland, ME

I guess I am not sure what warm means any more! LOL Highs in the seventy's and 50's overnight. Things are very slow to bloom

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Heh, we're supposed to have overnights in the 40s this weekend... Good sleeping weather. Things are holding their blooms longer with the cooler weather, once they bloom, of course. :)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

It dropped to 48 here the other night.....where is summer?

These lovely little lillies are missing the tag......anyone recognize it?

Thought I would add a couple of pictures today. My asiatics are almost done. O/T have started to bloom. Still cold in New England but has stopped raining for a while.
Thought this first picture really shows the difference between Honeybee (right) and Graffity (left)

Looks like Gluhwein has that satiny sheen that makes the color hard to capture.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Yeah, I like that in a lily. :)

Agawam, MA(Zone 6a)

Moby, you are so right, I took about five pictures of Gluhwein. This was the best I could get.
