2009 Lily Bloom # 8

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Thanks Moby...To me Touch & Touching looked the same that is why I wanted to get it cleared up!

Henry's Surprise from buggy last fall...It is a very cute little one..Love it!

No, and I didn't want to go there!! LOL Love that 'Tiny Ghost' they are showing as purple!!
Anyways, you have 'Nostalgia' and I have 'Brazilia', they look alot alike. I was wondering if Nost. changes colors as it ages? Mine starts out white w/a pinkish-rose edge, as it ages it turns completely pink.
Let me see if i can find a picture.

Oh, okay, now I see. There has also been something recently called 'Brazil', so I was confusing all of them. Lol.

I don't recall 'Nostalgia' turning completely pink. They are different! 'Nostalgia's edges stay pink and I don't recall the rest turning at all. I have had 'Brasilia' and it has been one I have tried twice to grow here. It grows and then the second year looks like crud. Yours looks great.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Well I'll let ya know what it looks like when it blooms ths year. lol

I had the same problem with 'Long Island' and 'Sea Treasure' I think they would need to be side by side for me to tell the difference!! lol

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Oh no, I keep seeing more and more I love. Pixie, that Cernuum is just the cutest little thing.
jmoth, you lily lane is lovely.
Henry's Surprise, First Crown and Coral Butterflies are calling my name too.

I post a photo a few days ago of what I thought was Radiance, but now I think it was Fangio and this one is Radiance.

This is the one I now think may be Fangio. It bloomed earlier than Radiance is was more upward facing while Radiance seems more outward facing. I have them both labeled as Radiance, but can see they aren't and know Fangio was one I planted last fall.

Such beautiful pics today!

Lefty ~ a teleidoscope has a triangle of long mirrors inside and an acrylic ball (fixed) on the end for magnification. All you have to do is look around for an everchanging view. A kaleidoscope has moving parts on the end instead of the ball.

So many pretty ones... I really need to make more beds!

Anastasia blooming so pretty! Her first year here so she is a bit short and hard to photograph. She doesn't have a very strong fragrance at all.

Wow you guys - I haven't been on much lately and now see how much catching up I have to do! What a spectacular bunch of displays! Mags I love your "Visaversa" and Moby that "Robina" is to die for - never realized it was a deeply colored s it is and now it is on my must-have list for next year. Also Susan (lincolnitess) I love your "Radiance" and in fact I have some blooming in pots right now on my porch, protected from this blazing sun we've been having.

Neal, what is that deep red American series lily? I love that one. I have many of the "Am" series but not one like that and it is spectacular.

Here is my Radiance - wonderful fragrance, too.

This thing has been blooming for over a week and is still not showing a huge amount of heat stress in spite of temps near 100 virtually every day.

Steve, that one is American Journey. It has the most Oriental looking shape of the series that I've seen, and good, heady fragrance too. I think it would be a good one for you- I've been astounded how well they tolerate hot afternoon sun without fading. I was noting today some Orientals that have been particularly strong for me, that may also tolerate Texas extremes as well. Sorbonne and Rio Negro are looking extra nice in their 2nd year, and both are in a dry bed with strong afternoon sun. Rio Negro is not only one of the deepest solid red Orientals I've seen, but doesn't fade. Bergamo just opened its first bloom today. I've had them 6 years now, and have divided and given bulbs away. They have extra strong stems for Orientals, high bud count, and the color is more intense now that I have them in full sun than at my old garden where they were in partial shade.

'Radiance' is wonderful!

Is that 'Leslie Woodriff' that is taking the heat so well?

perenniallyme, I love your collection of recurved petaled, spotted beauties!

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

Here are my FANCY FACE daylilies with the row of RED ALERT planted in back of them. I bought and planted these somewhat late this spring from Wooden Shoe. RED ALERT just recently started blooming. I am very pleased with the effect.

jmorth- Love that Beauty Rose!

Steve- What is your daylily above, the beauty that is not showing any heat stress?

Jamaica Plain, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks Neal. The recurved spotted ones seem to be my favorites. I'll take them in any color except purple, though almost purple is okay too.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Lovely folks, just lovely!! Please keep the pictures coming! :)

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Becky, I am not sure - maybe as Neal suggests it is Leslie Woodriff. I honestly do not know which one it is, but Neal is usually pretty good with ID's.

Tomah, WI

Sorry, I missed that ID in Neal's post. Sure is a beauty!

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Very nice pictures. Steve I thought that was 'Scheherezade'. But whoever it is, it sure stands up to that Texas heat, doesn't it. Are you enjoying your potted lilies. There is no bigger lily favor you can do for yourself than to find a way to extend your lily season ;) 'Red Strap' looks quite cute. And Rita your place must be quite a sight right about now. Lovely

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Faraway Flowers 'Geisha Girl' is an amazing lily. The color is a little bit pinker this year with our cooler summer.
