While preparing the soil for our vegetable bed we stirred up lots of ants and these red, beetle-looking bugs. There were MANY of them: we took some to try to identify and came up with immature Burrowing Bugs. They will feed on mints, as adults, but do not seem to be a huge problem. They may share my vegetable garden with me. Photos to come.
