Rarely encountered due to its underground habitat but is said to be fairly common, living anywhere away from daylight like cave and mine entrances, cellars & culverts etc. Apparently the offspring go out into the light but when mature seek out permanently dark places. It doesn't actually live far inside caves but within a few yards of the entrance.
