We live in Amador County CA. My husband found a strange looking (what we thought was) black ant. Tried finding pictures and finally came across DAVE'S GARDEN with the exact image of our bug. I noticed that there is a "Regional" section and wanted to add our County to that! Very interesting critter!!
Thank you for the information and providing identification. It was driving me crazy now knowing what it is.
