Have been finding gnats in my Norfolk Island Pine. This plant sits by an east-facing window in the kitchen. There are no other plants in the area. Noticed that the branches were wilting and dropping from below upwards. Then saw the gnats all over the table that the plants sits on, and the windowsill. Stopped watering. Let soil dry completely. Plant is in a clay pot. Watered again when plant "drooped" a little, and they're back!!! Would like to find a non-toxic way to rid plant of these pests.

I have a large collection of houseplants. Recently I have been noticing gnats at the soil. They dont seem to be harming the plants but are a huge nuisence to me.
Any idea how to rid them?
