This is a beneficial predator insect. They resemble dragonflies in looks and actions.

Owlflies can be found throughout most of North America, but little is known about them, other than they are capable of catching and consuming insects as big, or bigger than they are.

They tend to fly at dusk and at night and can be found at lights on occasion.
