Summer Lilies 2008 Pt.6
Bev, can't say for sure. Do you have a shot not so closeup to show the whole form of the flower? I am not an ID expert either, mind you! lol So maybe someone else will chime in on your lily.
I was very disappointed in Boogie Woogie too. It was alright... but nothing like the pics, other wise I wouldn't have bought it. DH liked it though so it will stay I guess!
Ok thanks will get one. BEV
Hi popgeo and welcome to the lily group here. Your lilies are spectacular to say the least! I've bookmarked your album and will be returning to it often. Soooo... how did you become so interested in lilies? (This is a good question for everyone here!).
And what is the airy looking plant in the foreground of this post? Baby's Breath? Statice of some sort?

Wow, Popgeo, those are some beautiful stands of lilies!! :) Your American Spirit is one of the best I've seen. Keep the pictures coming!
And yes, thank you, I know that my Speciosum Album is not a Speciosum Album. It's another Skyline Trumpet from Buggy. Buggy and I have it already taken care of. She is truly a sweetheart to do business with. I can't wait till August and I can order more lilies from her.. Yay!! I encourage everyone to buy bulbs from Buggy, but of course, if you've bought lilies from her before, you would know that no encouragement is needed. :)
The plant in foreground is Baby's Breath. I am interested in lilies since a good while mainly because I found it to be a very reliable flower with a lot of diversity and a lot of stance. Is not very picky (except orientals and a few others ) and it is a good garden plant for making a small green paradise.
Here is a pic of elise
For people interested in pictures of flowers... I am not interested only in lilies... but in a few more

Revclaus! Yeah, that's it. I really wasn't expecting it to be quite as dramatic and the garden porn shows it to be, but I did expect a bit more color. :)
Wow Popgeo, I've been looking at your albums, and wow... How long have you been collecting? Are you a private collector or are you in the business? Do you hybridize? Wow, breathtaking! :)
Oh yeah, you need to come play on the this forum more often! :)
Oh, it's going to be fun to have you here! :)
Regarding 'Boogie Woogie', I guess it's sort of like buying 'Eyeliner'( the newer asiatic from Faraway Flowers) and having it bloom with no lines. I should preface this by saying I really love all sorts of lilies, but another plain old creamy white one with no edge, I'd prefer to save the room for something else. The edge really made it what it was.
Can any costal folks chime on the 'Boogie Woogie' lily? Doe sit get an pink hue on the edge for anyone? I mean, it might, I'd just like to hear about it (yeah, go ahead and make me jealous ^_^)
Welcome popgeo. So nice to have you here and what a nice collection you have. Do tell us about yourself and your lilies.
Another dark one.. Alex8
You guys have to remember that the producers (holland specially) will put the best picture out there that they have. Since Holland grows most of their lilies in greenhouse... and OT have a bit of genetic variety that alllows them to change colors depending on amount of light, water and few other factors. ..it's pretty much like a used car sale.... the item is presented in it's best outfit... what you get might be not that close.
Ya know the aggravating thing about Boogie Woogie is the pink promise on the bud (and the bloom).
It seems to be a lily very misrepresented. Usually I buy from vendors free of "garden porn", but that one was an exception.
Oh yeah, everyonce in a while we all cave and buy one we know will not be what it promises to be.. :) LOL
It's quit raining here so hopefully I'll get outside to look and see if anyone new has appeared on the sceen, and maybe pull a few weeds.. I know I have to mow lawn today...
Where did you see the colored margins, I mean in what climate. Was it coastal?
Unfortunately I do not recall... but i kind of remember that it was in BC, Canada. It was on a forum...in 2006... that was the only person having a flower resembling what was on the original package. And funny thing... the guy replied to me saying that he liked my version of Boogie Woogie because it was almost white and no margins... I do not recall the forum...

Bev, watch out for next year, that thing will really surprise you on how big it will grow. :)
And to all you guys... I am looking forward to holland's next OT..Purple Prince. I may have a few blooming this year in my garden.. but the "porn" looks like this so far...;-)
I bet this is another gross misrepresentation ...but i'll have to wait another 2-4 weeks and i'll know something..;-) Please all post pictures of this one, once it blooms in your garden...
'Purple Prince' is not purple. ...it's red. I'll see if I can dig up my picture from last year.
dogwalker is it from Buggy Crazy? It looks like 'Stunning' to me.
Dogwalker, the yellow one with purple spots.... is gorgeous... what is it ? Somebody else in this forum posted it as well a while ago...
Regarding Boogie Woogie, I read somewhere that cooler temperatures enhance the pink edge. I have seen a faint pink edge on mine that lasts maybe an hour or so as the bloom opens. LOL. Its getting shovel pruned out this fall because it is performing poorly this year. Still, I have enjoyed it for quite a few years now. I have never been able to set seed on it no matter what pollen I used.
Dogwalker, your yellow lily is Stunning from Buggycrazy.
You know, your right. I forgot that's where I got them. The only one I remembered was Black Beauty.
