First Lilies Part II

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Yes Lily_Love - thank you!! I love daylilies - they can handle ANYthing and almost always look good! (as long as I remember to deadhead every day! LOL)

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

It looks great! It's just amazing to me that on June 7th you have all of this out! Wow.

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Closer-up of American Dream. I just wish they were more outfacing!

Thanks Tracey! In another month I won't have anything but Crape Myrtles and maybe some Rose of Sharons - oh and Hardy Hibiscus. Bur no lilies (sigh)!

I think this is "Satisfacxtion"

This is "Surprise" from Lily Garden.....looking a little rough....hopefully it'll be prettier next year!

Thanks mattsmom for the nice words!!

I hope you'll take my word for it because the pic is absolutely lousy. I have Dazzle (I think from the Faraway coop) blooming today and it is in front of variegated alpinia zerumbet ginger (yellow/green variegation). It is soooo beautiful, it's a shame I can't get a good pic of it. I also have two yellow roses in the area, ahhh, just divine. It makes my heart soar and forget about the @#$%? armadillo that is destroying everything!

Oh the purple daylily with the silver edges - mattsmom - that is "Indian Giver". I got it from Oakes and really like it. Surprisingly I saw it at White Flower Farm for a much lower price!

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

LOL Nery you have an armadillo? I didn't think they were that far southeast. I have seen them on the road dead but not a live one in my yard. I think it is the Texas version of the Opossum.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

I think I read somewhere on DG while I was poking around that the armadillo is the Texas form of a "speed bump". I thought, yuck!

Tomah, WI

I googled armadillo for pix. Having never seen one. They look like a possum with armour.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Hi Steve, here in Al. we've both apossums and armardillos. lol.
I've this "pink" tiger lilies, though labelled pink. But they're off pink...

Embarrassment

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

I like your pink tigers, Lily_Love - I ordered some at and end-of-season sale and just got them, so haven't planted yet. I have to help them get through the summer before I put in the ground - maybe pots inside to start.

Nice, jmorth - the "Embarrassment" is really vivid.

Nice poly on your Lolli ~ you know I love garden weirdness. ;)

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

lily love that looks like the one I have but I have yet to find the name. I keep forgetting.

we have opposums and armadillos. they are a HUGE pain to gardeners around here.

Divernon, IL(Zone 5b)

Moby, Is the extra an aberration or mutation?

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Wow, those are all beautiful lilies... I can hardly wait till mine start in.. :) Steve, is that Satisfaction or Red Hot? I do know that my Satisfaction tends to fade really fast.

Diann

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Hi Diann,

I am pretty sure it is Satisfaction, as I have never ordered Red Hot - though I did get is as a bonus come to think of it!! Maybe you're right. I grew Satisfaction before and have it in other areas as well, and I thought it was pinker. I only had one Red Hot bulb so I guess I'll wait to see what the lilies near that one turn out to be, LOL

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

j ~ just an aberration, nothing permanent. All's good. :)

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

I think it would be fun to have a forum named "garden weirdness". Moby could be the moderator. I love the weird stuff too.

Steve, I love the photo with the combination of yellow lilies and purple daylilies. I find myself always just popping lilies into whatever blank space I can find and end up with some strange combinations. Yours looks really well planned.

Susan

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Well thanks Susan - I trey to plan but find I am not nearly as good at it as many here are. Last year things bloomed at differenty times and this year it all happened to sync up, so I got lucky!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

What I was hoping Stargazers to open up, but these turn out to be some unknown lilies. The light pink is sweet though.

Steve, your "Silk Road" is just stunning!

Lili_love, I love the shot you took of your yellow Tiger lily. Beautiful.

Finally had a lily open up at the new house. Absolutely no idea on the name, but love the deep color. :)

Melanie, the scarlet red lily is lovely! I can't seem to get enough of lilium's blooms. Love them all. I've a new planted Silk Road, but for its first year it's putting out but one lone bud.
Here is the pink Tiger if I didn't post this already. ^_^

That is fabulous! Both the flower and your photography.

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Thanks countrymouse - I really like it - puts up with our heat and gets better each passing year!

Love the pink tiger, Kim - I only have yellow ones.

You're right country - your red is very even - I have always had trouble finding ones that don't fade. Very nice!

Steve, if I see them on the market, I'll get you some. :-) Mine will take several years before they're ready for division I think. I'm looking out to for the red ones. Carolina's Tiger lily (the red ones), I'll be searching for those this years.

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Thanks Kim!! I did order some from B&B that are supposed to be "Tiger Like" but it didn't specifically say they were tigers.

Danielsville, GA(Zone 7b)

Kim, you can post that beauty as often as you like.I am going hunting for the yellow, and pink.
B&B?, not sure I have heard of that, but am looking for a good source.Mike

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

I think he might mean Brent and Becky's Bulbs? Or B &D Lilies?

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

There's B&B (Brent and Becky's Bulbs) http://www.brentandbeckysbulbs.com/ and B&D http://bdlilies.com/f2008.html , amongst others.

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

I was referring to Brent and Becky by B&B, though B&D is one of my favorite sources too! B&B however had this nice 50% off sale going until June 2 or something like that, though. Nobody I have tried can beat B&D for quality though, except maybe Buggy from what I have been hearing from everyone. I will try her this fall.

Danielsville, GA(Zone 7b)

Thank you, Moby, and Steve. This puts me in the market for bulbs.Mike
