Haves, wants and oh please, please help me get a....

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

What are ya bringing to the swap - and what would you like to go home with!

I am still unsure what I'll have - if someone spots "something needed" - dig up or take cutting...

No specific needs or wants - I am sure there will be plenty to drool over :-)

Updated to add:

Anyway - I just took a quick look at what I have to share -

Polygonum aubertii (silver lace vine)
Siberian iris - purple and white
Alaskan Daisy
Black Eye Susans (of course LOL)
I can start some MG's if anyone wants me to
Columbines - blue/white
A white hydrangea (I believe it is a peegee)

Rose of Sharon
Geraniums - Rozanne (and another one - of course I have no idea what)
Sedums - at least 6 different types
Hosta ("generic" type)
Day Lillies (no idea)
Oriental Lily - white - Casa Blanca

What I was thinking is to have my little garden tools ready for anyone that wants to dig a clump here, take a cutting there!

Oh boy -- I think I have some cannas -- I got a lot last year -- I need to see how they overwintered. And I have some sedum. Whoee! Maybe we could work out something with those naked ladies, larlienda!!!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

hart--
Since most of us lost the blue lilies (the cluster ones) you had, maybe you could dig some up before they get so big and pot them up. They are so pretty! I think last time they were just too far along to survive--besides, they had very small root systems, with all the rocky earth you have.

Thanks, Gita

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Gita, I'll be sure to bring plenty. I'm assuming you're talking about the clustered bellflowers with the dark purple flowers.

Wrightie, are you confusing me with someone else? I have two mock orange bushes myself plus there's another one back at the cemetery behind the yard.

If cuttings work, I'd be glad to bring you some from the wonderful mock orange I have in the back yard. The blooms are huge - about 2-4 times the size of regular old fashioned mock orange. It still has the wonderful fragrance of the old timey kind, though.

I'll fill the rest of this in later.

Pink evening primrose "Siskiyou" - Oenothera speciosa - great for a dry slope or other spots where you want to choke out weeds. Height info in plant files is incorrect - it's closer to 10-12 inches tall. HAPPY,

adding these

Japanese mondo grass - Ophiopogon japonicus JODY, MIATABLU

Achillea Paprika - limited CHANTELL, WYLDEFLWR,

Wild black cherry seedlings - Prunus serotina - a couple
I love these trees. The cherries aren't really edible, they're tiny, but the birds love them. Nice fast tree, tough as nails.
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2519/
Box elder seedlings - Acer negundo
Very fast growing tree, also very tough and drought tolerant but they tend to lose their leaves in the driest part of summer in my dry yard. I've noticed they don't where they get a little less parched conditions.

Chrysanthemum Clara Curtis - Chrysanthemum x rubellum JODY,
Pretty pale pink single flowers in late summer into fall.

Mock orange cuttings
Two kinds, don't know variety names so I'm just adding the link for the wild one. These aren't wild

Another antique. Some of the photos in plant files are not accurate. This photo is. Climbs trees and thrives in sun or shade.

Adding again

Brunnera - regular green kind. I have at least one pretty good sized one and I think two babies which by the end of the summer would probably be blooming size.

Euphorbia polychroma - I have maybe four or five self sown seedlings of this if any of you euphorbia lovers want some. WYLDEFLWR, BEC,
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/825/
Hardy flossflower, EUPATORIUM coelestinum Wayside, just like the annual but it comes back every year. Very pretty and another nice blue. Doesn't seem to care if it's in sun or shade, very tough.

Hart, I thought that you said that you'd be interested in one of the cuttings from my grandmother's home in NYS? I'd have to go searching for the thread...

No worries, I can always change the list.

Shenandoah Valley, VA

I don't think so. Let me know if you want cuttings from mine.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Oh Hart! I'd love some Helen von Stein and Siskiyou -- just a tiny bit - I know they spread!

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Diane - I wouldn't mind a teensy bit of which ever lambs ear is smaller - to put in place of some of the cactus. I'm thinkin' that might be a neat plant for Chloe. :)

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Chantell, I have the regular kind too - just added it to the list. Take some of both. Obedient plant I added too and it's a really neat plant for kids. The flowers are hinged on the stems and stay where you push them.

Happy, I have oodles of the Helen von Stein and the siskiyou.

Jody - I sure hope I have some things you'd like, you have a bunch of things I love and don't have.

Petasides - definitely
amorphophallus 'Konjac'
Arum italicum or
Arum italicum pictum
Chelone/Turtleheads
Euonymous, Emerald N Gold, creeping
any sedums you can spare except Autumn Joy
Lily montenegro

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

I gotta pull together a list, but for now the IRS' call is louder!

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Jody - I'd love some of your Chocolate Joe Pye Weed & if you have any more to share after Diane's request, I'd be thrilled with a amorphophallus 'Konjac' too.

Strasburg, VA(Zone 6b)

now i see it was happy for some naked ladies...
cannas & sedum sound great :-)

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Yum!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

I guess I better post what I have and want. The haves, as usual, will outnumber the wants....

HAVES:

"Naked lady" Lily. about 12--one gallon pots--about 4 bulbs in each. Larienda--don't worry about dividing your clump...I have plenty. As I said in one of the posts--by the time of the Plant Swap--all the leaves will be gone. You will just get a 1gal. pot of dirt....BUT--trust me--there will be about 4 bulbs in there!
Happy--you already asked ME! You can have 2 pots--or more, if you want. More, if there are no more takers....Wrightie--You also asked. Got YOU covered!

Ajuga-about 6-7- 4" pots. Could "scrounge" more.....(already did!) Now I have more for hart.
****note on 5/18***--many of these have died out. Hart--you can have all that are left. Can't "scrounge" any more. The people have moved in...

--A few dbl. purple and white, and dbl. yellow Daturas. Grew from seed. I think I have more than I need. Have been sharing with folks at work...

--Oodles of baby Tiger Lilies--one year old sprouts. They are not doing much at this point. I think the cool weather is to blame.

Seedlings coming up--a lot of:
--Sally's Nicotiana Alata (tall, white, pendulous blooms)--5/18--still minute! Will try to pot up some....
--Some of Brent's perennial Salvia--a few sprouting--also micros.....(5/1)-coming along nicely! --5/18--still very, very small. Not sure I can transplant!

Hoping for some "volunteers" in my beds from last Summer of:

I see some coming up that I planted in pots. They are ALL mine! Sorry!
-A HUGE, bushel basket sized clump of some kind of Daylilies......My neighbor dug them up and
does not want the clump. It is a SOLID mass of roots/bulbs. Cannot be divided for the Swap.
Whomever wants it will get the whole thing! Will need a chain saw to cut it apart! I do not know
the color--but I don't think they are "Ditch Lilies".....I have a few starts from it. Nothing has
bloomed yet.....Dying to see what color they are!
-I have some of the mini-sedum with the tiny yellow flowers that becomes an invasive Ground
cover..... Every little "leaf" of it will make a new plant......They must "fly" through the air--as I have now had some of them in my beds......
- A bunch of baby "Pregnant Onions" rooting......
- I could dig up a few of my Shasta Daisies. Every year--I need to contain them in the areas
they are in. They spread---and I dig! These are indestructible!

WANTS:

From hart----some clustered Bellflowers
----Some tall Phlox "Robert Poore".

Will update this as time goes by.

Gita

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Gita, I'll take as much ajuga as I can beg. Lamium too if anyone has any. Still trying to get that slope next to the driveway covered.

The lamium and ajuga I got from you all last year is blooming. It sure is pretty with the yellow and blue together.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Hart: I have tons of plain green ajuga and at least 2 kinds of lamium.

Brunswick, MD(Zone 6b)

I'll be mushroom hunting in the woods for the next week or two. Would anyone want me to get them some Jack-in-the-pulpits, mayapples, lady slippers, or noid wood ferns while I'm out there?

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Me, me, me! Could you get me some Jack-in-the-pulpit or lady slippers? My mayapples from the last swap are coming up right now, I'm thrilled to report, along with the hostas and lilies of the valley. The mayapples look like fingers poking out of the ground then the leaves just unfurl. It's magic.

Strasburg, VA(Zone 6b)

i want some too....any of them are fine....i read mayapples are ok with black walnut trees & i have those!

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Is it ok to collect them from the woods you are going to be in? If so, I'd love all three, but not if it isn't . . . .

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Happy, just saw your note. Plain green ajuga and lamiums sound wonderful. Thanks for getting me some too, Gita. I have lots more slope to cover.

Brunswick, MD(Zone 6b)

Okay y'all.

Hart - Jack-in-the-pulpits / Ladyslippers
Larlienda - Mayapple / Jack-in-the-pulpits / Ladyslippers / Ferns
Happy - Mayapple / Jack-in-the-pulpits / Ladyslippers
Wyldeflwr - Jack-in-the-pulpits / Ladyslippers

Happy, I hunt in my uncles woods and am more than welcome to take anything I want. In fact they can't even believe that I'd actually want to take home mayapples. They are a royal pain when hunting mushrooms! They grow in huge stands and make it hard to find the mushrooms that are hard enough to spot. I've resisted bringing any back for myself until this year, but I've just brought myself home a bunch this last time. I think in the back of my mind I'm trying to recreate to some extent the woods I've hunted in since I was a child.

I've had good success with the Jack-in-the-pulpits. The second year after transplanting them I didn't get a spathe on them even though they had one when I brought them back. Last year I not only got great spathes I was even fortunate enough to get the red berries in the fall. Hopin' the multiply this year.

Ferns do great.

Lady slippers are a little less common and a little trickier, but I'll see what I can do for everyone. The first year I brought them back I didn't have much success, but I don't think I planted them properly. The ones I brought back last year I think are popping up. Can't wait to see how they do.

Happy, you said any of the three, did you want ferns too?

Hart--

The Ajuga I "stole" from my neighbor's yard are the deep red-leaves ones that have a pink flower--whenever they bloom. Most are pretty good-sized clusters.....

I now have about 20 plants for you.....in 4" pots.....
If no one else asks for any--they are ALL yours!!! Here's what they look like.....

Gita

Thumbnail by Gitagal
Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Hart: Mine look like Gita's, but I remember the flower as being blue.

Bobbie: No ferns, many thanks. And if the ladyslippers are tough, then let other people take them before me. Do you want more wood poppies? Your uncle's property sounds fabulous! Many thanks!!!

Brunswick, MD(Zone 6b)

Happy, I didn't want to be a greedy girl and ask, but yes I'll take some more wood poppy! I'm still waiting to list my haves. Things are doing well, but I don't want to promise anything I'm not sure I will have by then.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

I'd be delighted to bring you more. I have a good-sized colony.

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Could I get some, Happy? I got one from you last year but it didn't live. Wish I'd put it up where I planted the hostas and mayapples because I think that would have been a better shade spot.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Happy and hart----

Of course!!!! The Ajuga flowers are blue! I have no idea where i got the notion that they are pink??????
Just scratching it off as another "Senior Moment".......^_^

Gita

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Hart: You managed to kill the ajuga? That is absolutely beyond belief. It has spread into my lawn, and I keep digging it up but it comes from I-don't-know-where. I'm going to bring you an undivided shovelful because that will probably make it easier to transplant. But once it takes hold, it is easy to uproot and divide into a million plants.

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

*ducking head and running* Mine died too. Although on a postive note, I'm proud to say the Mazus came back up with all it's bitty blooms...yipee...I'm not hopeless after all...LOL

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Good heavens no! It's doing great, has started to spread and is blooming like crazy. I was talking about the wood poppies. Did I post in the wrong thread? Sorry to be confusing. boink

An undivided shovelful sounds wonderful.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Chantell -- what died, and do you want more?

I am so jealous that your Mazus bloomed. I think it is a degree or two too cold for it here. It does great as a ground cover, so I have tons to give away by late spring, but it isn't doing well enough in early spring time to bloom. If yours is blooming, mine has not yet awakened. I'm really disappointed, because I've worked hard to spread it hither and yon. I wanted the twinkle of blue. Oh well.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Has anyone had any success growing Kirengeshoma palmata (yellow waxbells)? http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/54273/

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Ahh happy - your's will come up...here's the quickie pick I took of mine (wondering now why the color's off...grrrr) http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/189163/
I'm embarrassed to say that I obviously was clueless last year about planting ground coverings until Jill (I think) gave me some step by steps with the Mazus last fall. So any ground coverings with color esp. - I'd be happy for a bit of...now that I semi-know what I'm doing...sad, isn't it?

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

I know my mazus will come up, but I'm afraid it'll skip over the blooming stage.

What are the step-by-steps for ground covers? I didn't know there were any!
