Post Your Early Bloomers II

South Hamilton, MA

I commented in that thread about the flower parts, With luck in your next RU people might know what they are contributing. Great for you to save the plants, hate to see plants go to waste.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

After the last RU, there was a box left with misc iris, crocus, tulip, daffs, etc. I didn't care what they were - just wanted to get them in the ground. I've got NOID plants of all kinds coming up this spring! It's been fun to see what they are. They will be tagged once id'd.

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

I finally have a few Iris pictures to post. These are all new to me this year, I purchased them from Schreiners last summer.

Alpine Lake is a Miniature dwarf. Did you get your plicata flowered plant (the purple on white) from the same source? If so they could probably give you an ID.

Those are beauties Cathy!

jackieshar, it's very similar. I took a peek inside and it has 6 standards! There are three small ones inside with a blue streak in them.

Your terra rosa sure is a looker. Very unusual.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

ROMANTIC MOOD - introduced by Joseph Ghio in 1988. Actually this is a late bloomer, unfortunately we are winding down our bloom season.

jackieshar... maybe I misread the post, but the photo of Sky Hooks is likely Thornbird. However, lighting could be playing a trick with the color and it could be something altogether different. Sky Hooks has yellow standards and white falls edged yellow, beards are tipped with violet horns. I saw that you were trying to id some of your iris and was just hoping to help.

I NEEED Hippie in my collection! My bro was really at Woodstock! Even got hassled by cops because he was 17, looked 19 and had no draft card.

who carries Hippie?

Denham Springs, LA(Zone 8b)

well, darn - should have looked it up myself. If it's P. Black, then Mid America will also have it. Thought maybe it was older....like hybridized back in the 70's?

LOL thanks Ladysaltfire

My purple and white plicata came in a trade, the person who sent it to me sent it as a noid, I do love it.

Hippie is so cute, it came in a collection from Schreiners, I love there Iris collections, such great buys, I bought 3 collections last summer and most of them are sending up buds, all mini's or dwarfs.

jackieshar, what color is Champagne Elegance? They are so pretty in a mass planting. Lovely. Can you tell me what the multi-lobed plant is growing amongst them on the right? I believe it's the same as my mystery plant that is about 3' tall now. I got it in trade at an RU last year and cannot find the label. Cannot for the life of me remember what it is. Wanting to call it a 'giant coneflower'???

That is a beautiful iris. Such subtle blending of colors. It has a very delicate look. I'll have to check out the poppy mallow and see if that's what I have. Thanks.
