Luv Rustler! I'll trade you an Autumn Prince for it.

Oooooh, tempting. I don't think I have enough to divide this year though.

Denham Springs, LA(Zone 8b)

Phooey. Maybe another Iris then. I have about 25 of Autumn Prince blooming right now.

I think I bought Witching from Hank's last year:) It's been in a big pot all winter and looks great...probably won't get much this year but I love that one. The flower looks a bit odd--is it a particular iris form?

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

It may be the angle at which I took this shot that makes it look different, I looked in the PF and they all seem to look normal. I don't think it's anything but a tall bearded.

Lufkin, TX(Zone 8b)

thank you! it is even prettier in person (arent they all), it is a little hard to tell, but there is a nice sparkle all over the flower.

weegy, maybe you can help me.

I bought from several different farms and individuals last planting season....planted like I am supposed to.......but several of my first bloomers are blooming on very short scapes, I really haven't yet checked to see if they are from the same farm...is this normal for first year plants?

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Jackie, I have some that are doing the same thing and they've been in my garden for 5 years. It's just the first bloom though, the others after that are coming up normal. I have one that's been blooming for about 2 weeks, all the first blooms were very short, almost at ground level but now the blooms are standing up where they belong...I really don't know what causes that. Someone told me once and I've forgotten. Maybe someone else knows why that happens.

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

I asked about irises with short stems at the AIS Convention last year. Apparently, short stems are commonly caused by being nipped by frost as they prepare to bloom.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Paj, that could very well be the problem, we did have a little frost right as these were opening up.

Love that Plum Perfect!!

Deer River, MN(Zone 3b)

Jackie, you know that Blast is an IB, not a TB, right? It has a difficult time in my climate, unfortunately, since I do enjoy its color combo.

Laurie

Blast never did well here so we no longer have it. I think it was fine in MO and original home in CA.

Texas/Okla central b, United States(Zone 7b)

The scape on Blast was maybe 10 inches...you'd think with our mild weather here it would do well.......experience is key, I learn all the time and thanks to you my gardening friends...
Look! One of my favorites, Frequent Flyer is just about ready to bloom
