I believe this to be Beverly Sills, can't be sure, it is a heritage from my Mom's garden...note the light blue vein on the falls.......

So lovely! That looks like Beverly Sills to me to, mine is not blooming yet.

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

Jackie ;
I think its Vanity ?
Beverly Sills has very corduroy substance on falls and standers
Vanity has a blue pink and is thiner in substance.

Alamogordo, NM(Zone 7b)

Now you have me excited about seeing mine bloom so I can see if I understand that difference you mention. What fun!

Is Vanity an old one? I know this one to be over 10 years

Denham Springs, LA(Zone 8b)

NOID that was given to me about five years ago.

Tazzy......thanks for the heads up on the pinks...I'll research the two. I knew it was an old one but I couldn't remember just how long Mom had it.....she's been gone about 8 yrs now
...By corduroy do you mean a light brown veining? Mine has that with a pale blue vein down the center and a peachy colored beard. The falls are not thick they are delicately ruffled, whiter towards the center.
This white is another I can't ID, from my friend Jane.......it has a soft gray glow to it

No Jackie
corduroy means thick substance like corduroy verse silk
like thick - thin, rough-smooth .

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

I agree on Michale Paul. Anyone know where to find it?

Hanson, KY(Zone 6a)

Check with LaurieF here on DG. She has them in her online catalog.

High Master tickles my fancy .

Raleigh, NC

first year High Master bloomed I thought, "well, that was a waste of good money." the bloom was small, odd shaped and little color contrast. Then I met Keith Keppel and got a chance to see his garden. He said to wait for 2nd year bloom.

Even though it didn't grow (drought) much, the bloom this year is breathtaking - the photo does NOT do it justice. it glows.

I sure like seeing your early bloomers, guys. Nothing is blooming yet here, but I am going to the Aril Society Convention in Albuquerque on Sunday. They are having a show and garden tour, so I guess they have some things blooming. Albuquerque is 100 miles south and 2000 ft. lower and arilbreds are earlier than most iris -- so I gather there will be flowers at the Convention.

My very FIRST iris bloom EVER!

This is a NOID I got at a RU last year. Can anyone tell me what it is? It's planted among my Knock-Out roses along with some very old iris given to me a week ago by my DH's 87 yr old aunt. They came from her mother's home. Will need help to id those later. This is my first year for iris and couldn't be more excited. Am planning new beds to highlight my 'future' finds. Iris and roses are such old fashioned, romantic flowers. I'm a softie for the flowering plants our grandmother's grew.

The color of your iris is an amoena (white standards, colored falls). It needs to be fully open to have someone try at ID. Difficult as there are many iris in commerce. Did the RU supply a name or just have the plants by color?

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

Congrats Fleurs!

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks, mrsj!

irisMA, I had to laugh at your question about the RU and plants by color. We weren't anywhere near that organized! LOL! I hosted it and there were several NOID iris left behind - this was one of them. I'm hosting again next month and hope to trade for more iris - doesn't matter what kind. Beggers can't be choosers, right? Thanks for the info about it needing to be fully opened to id. I created a seperate thread to id it and will add more photos after it is fully open.
