beautiful morning. all the little peeps that are big enough are in their outside pen [NEW] enjoying hte fresh air and sunshine.

WHAT A GORGEOUS DAY!

be back later to catch up, gotta check out the names link, thanks Sharon!

still sad for all the folks in flooded areas. i hope this song brings a ray of hope...

The thunder echoes from the mountains to the waves
Sometimes I wish I could tell the clouds to behave
Calm the stormy seas just by stretching out my hand
But I am just a man, only a man so I’m

Praying for sunny days to return to me
Seeking the warmth of the solar rays
I’m not just seeing the grey skies in front of me
Praying for sunny days

This torrential downpour has my brain in a trance
I’d get up and move, but I just can’t dance
Lord, You know that I’ve done all that I can
But I am just a man, only a man so I’m

Praying for sunny days to return to me
Seeking the warmth of the solar rays
I’m not just seeing the grey skies in front of me
Praying for sunny days

Rain, rain go away, I have faith that you won’t stay
I don’t care what doubters say, sunny days will come my way
Then the birds come out to play by the light of one sun ray
Now I kneel me down to pray, please God give me sunny days

Spring has Sprung? Not here. Not Yet. We have 34°F here now and the forecast calls for heavy snow tonight with a low in the mid-twenties and more snow flurries tomorrow. It's not going to be above freezing again until Tuesday but the extended forecast does look more promising after that. We had heavy rains and snow melt for a couple of days but only have minor flooding is this area.

Sugarweed..........Love the "When God Paints" photo.

Ric............Looks like the project is coming along nicely!

We had fresh snow and a bit of sunshine last evening so I went out looking for some rural scenes.
Here are a couple of photos.

Sidney, your picture looks like in California but electronically enhanced to a degree. Maybe not, but I've never seen a place where the wildflowers were so thick on both sides of a valley. Usually one side is better than the other because it gets more sun.

I'll try again naming the chicks: Bathsheba Fruffles and Penelope Fairfeathers. (Aren't you glad I never had any kids?) And if you have any more boys: Earl E. Wakupkall and Billy Sundaedinner.

Hey everyone!

Had a gorgeous sunny day today, only a light breeze and a high of 39°F. Might not seem like spring to many of you but the first crocus and snowdrop blooms opened today and that's spring by my books :-) And the best part : I was well enough to be outside to enjoy it! :-)

Adina - so sorry to hear you're sick - hope you recover soon!

TF - love the chick photos - too cute :-)

Kelli - gorgeous view - it's so green! And the phlox in the foreground is so pretty :-)

EB - gorgeous as always!

Sidney - awesome photo :-)

Sunrise was at 7:21 this morning and sunset at 7:49 pm .... we have daylight past 8 pm now :-)

And here's proof that it's definately spring eventhough people up north have snow up to their ears ........ ;-) lol

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Rann...........Yep. Looks pretty "Springy" to me! Good to hear you're feeling better.

Kelli..........You have some serious green going on there. Quite a contrast from the photos you were posting last summer.

Gorgeous crocuses, Rann.

Yes, we finally have some green. My parents came out to visit in the fall a couple years ago and my mom asked if it ever got green. I'll have to send her these pictures.

Ric~kitchen looks good;
kelli~Calif. looks great all green and springy...
too many to comment on now, but have enjoyed the catching up.
One of the many ice sculptures at the Fairbanks Ice Show. Carvers from around the world presented work and it was well worth the cold to go see.

Tripod out on the Tanana River; attached to a clock that stops when the ice goes out. We bought tickets for the guessing game; date, time, wins the pot of money. (near Fairbanks, at Nenana).
It most often has gone out in mid-late April; latest was May 20. The river ice is now several feet thick.

Alaska! Wow, Kiska...you have a long time to wait for spring.

But judging by how my cable has been acting up, I'm guessing the aurora borealis must be pretty active right now. Is it? And does that help make up for spring being so late in coming?

(Zone 3b)

hi KaylyRed~
Spring is a ways off, but the longer daylight is very welcome. The aurora doesn't seem any more active, but I've not really checked the site to see what the activity level has been. You're right, the sky does make up the difference and winter is a good time.

Good morning!

Hi Kiska :-) So nice to see you back - we missed you ;-) Great photos - that ice sculpture is pretty amazing :-) And wild caribou!

Thanks Kelly and EB :-)

Deb - that spirea is gorgeous! Never seen a double flowering one. 70°F would be a heatwave during summer here - definately not "springlike"! lol

pepper and marsue - sorry to hear about all the flooding. Hope the water settles before you get more rain.

It's overcast today, breezy and 39°F this morning. The breeze is blowing at about 18 mph from the west gusting to 26. Sunrise was at 7:18 and sunset will be at 7:51 pm.

Here's another photo from yesterday - snowdrops :-)

Hope you all have a great day!

Morning! :D We have had some pretty days...while others close by have had it really bad. Ric, E_B, Pepper,Se_eds, & Marsue take care in this crazy March weather!
Spring has definitely sprung here. Sidney, what a beautiful picture to start it out with! :D
At the moment we have 36° & it's Dyson Dark.
LOL! You all should be ashamed of yourselves!...I've been reading & trying to view pics for over 1/2 hour! :D And I still didn't get finished! :D

Kelli, What a beautiful Green! :D And Congrats on "being published"! :D I can't wait to see your article! :D
Ric, Your cabinets for your speakers! Wow! I wouldn't know what kind of music to play 1st, but I know I would probably run everyone out of the house! :D
Sharon, LOVE the Orchids! THey're Beautiful! Garrett sold his Indian for $500 & took it to Louisville, KY. on Wednesday. My poor little boy drove in all of that rain! But he did OK & took his time. I will try to get a good pic of JW this week end.
Adina, Hope you are feeling better, soon! Your house is looking Great! Love the flooring! And I see that Spring has sprung for you, too!:D
Kiska, Hang in there! I know spring is right around the corner! :D THen you will have "green", too! :D
Marylyn, OH NO! I hope you find your camera, soon! :-O
TF, good luck w/ all of the "naming"! They are really cute, tho.
Juri, Has Spring come to your part of the world?
Rann, You Have Spring! :D What Beautiful Crocus! :D And are those Snow Drops? Neat-O! Are you & the girls feeling better? 'Hope so. :)

The trivia for the day is...
Temperatures usually decrease with height in the lower atmosphere, but where they increase with height, we call it:
a) An atmosphere fold
b) An inversion
c) A geomagnetic storm
d) A thermocline

Have a Happy Easter! :D

43° (Wind Chill 35°) Grey and the temps are going down.... 40° by dark...
32° by morning.
But after today it's smooooooth sailing.
Temps near 70 by Friday..... or so 'They' say....LOL!

Today's Trivia should be easy for anyone in an Urban area.... think Smoggy.
Eh Kelli...LOL!
Speaking of which...we are spoiled CA visitors.
Going at Christmas it is usually starting to green up.
No Smog and few Fires.
We can usually see the Ocean from Tijunga Hills.
Those Coreopsis? are beautiful.
And if I even find an abandoned Aureo Marginata around here... that Agave would be on the move.
We bring them back in 2 liter pop bottles every time we go out.

Kiska those shots are again Amazing.
All the snow is gone here.... ground's drying up....

Yesterday WAS a Good Friday.
We broke a bolt changing the Thermostat in the Car last Fall.
Jimmie was working to fix it yesterday as we were getting some seepage.
Usually that's a long and tedious process.
Involving a lot of drilling, cussing and 'barked' knuckles.
But he managed to extract the stub in minutes.

I'll get a few Flower shots today if the rain holds off.
We have A Daff open and our neighbor has a TON of Crocus.

Off to Lowe's for some more molding...

Ric

Good morning, everyone!

Quoting:
...Earl E. Wakupkall and Billy Sundaedinner.

Kelli, those were the best names yet! LOLOL

I've seen the "God spilled the paint" picture before in e-mails. It's gorgeous!!! It is real (not digitally enhanced) and it was taken in California ("...East side of Carrizo plains in the Temblor range...")! Here's the Snopes page about it: http://www.snopes.com/photos/natural/flowers.asp

Welcome back, kiska!! Are your eyes feeling better? What date did you guess for the ice melt?

I found the camera. It was in my purse (blushing).. Joey, was Garrett happy to get $500 for the bike? (I love the name Garrett, by the way. It's always been on my "if I ever have a boy...." list.)

Beautiful spring pictures, Rann. :-)

Hang in there, E_B! It was pushing 80° here yesterday, so spring is at least past here and on the way north. :-)

Yesterday afternoon we went to the Mercer Arboretum, which is on the north side of town. Neither Charles nor I had ever been there before. It is gorgeous!! They are having a big plant sale next weekend which I have heard is fantastic, but I took a part time weekend job and next Saturday is my first day. Bummer.

Here are a few of the pictures we took...

This is Texas Bluebonnet, our state flower.

Here's the same bed. I think the white flowers are amaryllis? The butterfly was beautiful. I really do need to get a butterfly book!

Thumbnail by Marylyn_TX
Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

They have everything labeled, of course (although in beds that were full, it was sometimes hard to tell which label went with which plant). I thought this one was amusing. Charles had never actually seen poison ivy before, so he was glad to see what it actually looks like. I'm more familiar than I like to remember with the stuff!

Thumbnail by Marylyn_TX
Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

After we left the Arboretum (which closes at 5 until their "summer" hours start in April), we went to a park nearer to our house. We'd never been to this playground before (an afternoon of firsts! LOL), but we will definitely be back! It was huge... It was hard to get a feel for how big and complicated it is with the camera. The bunnies had a great time. Here's the big bunny. This contraption wasn't quite as much fun as it looked and she gave up on it pretty quickly.

Hi Joey - thanks, I'm feeling much better :-) Pretty daffodil :-)

Marylyn - great photos! I'd guess the white flower was some kind of phlox? It looks like summer there already! T-shirts, shorts and sandals in March! lol I'm not jealous though - I hate mosquitos and 80°F is too hot for me ;-) lol
