Bought two 3 gallon pots of variegated ginger lilies at Lowe's 3 bucks a piece,heck of a buy!!! Love those clearance rack items!!!
Well now I don't feel so bad! LOL Mine is still nice and green and it has been out there at least a week with all the cold weather.

Kim, thanks for that info. Am always at Lowe's..there are 3 Lowe's around here and they never carry the same stuff! Looks like Lowe's smartened up trying to 'harvest' faithful gardeners!

We are at one of the Lowe's almost everyday except for weekends! Actually, there are 4 Lowe's. The new one will be opened this Monday, and just 10 minutes away!!! Thank God, Kel loves gardening!
Wow, I thought it was dangerous around here with a Lowe's, a HD, and three nursery/garden centers within 5 miles, but I think you have it much worse!

We live close to Myrtle Beach, SC. It's booming there and affected nearby areas. Yes, there are also HD and local nurseries...still not offering much 'specialised' gardening, like tropicals! For those, I still have to purchase online.

But we have a terrible Wal-Mart! LOL Only one Lowe's, no HD, and just a few nurseries that I never think to visit, shame on me! HA HA HA
Same here Tammy but worst of all HD they don't even have a clearance rack for plants .. just dump them I guess.There are a few nurseries... very pricey.I will go to Lowe's Tuesday and try to not go overboard ;*)
No clearance rack, terrible! I know Wal-Mart can only drop their plants down to 50% off, then they said they threw them out. I later learned that they donate to one of the schools, so I felt better about it then! I don't understand why they can only do that with the plants when everything else can be dropped more than 50%? Shoot, some time before Christmas I bought a BUNCH of candles that had been up to 11 & 12 bucks for a dollar a piece! Now that was a steal! LOL

Good morning all! I have two Lowe's near me. I live between two states! Can go either way! I get some good deals there too. Now, the Walmart that I usually go to...have two of them too!...I was such a regular that the manager of the plant dept. knew me very well...lol. He would even buy things on my reccomendation.! And he would give me good deals on things....not just plants, but other things too...like I bought a new grill at the end of the summer this past year for nearly half price! It had a broken grate, but he told me, if I bought it, then emailed or called the company, they would send me a new one, at no charge. And they did! Worked for me!!
But now, he left Walmart!!! Boo hooo!! They have a new manager, a lady. One of the girls back there has already introduced me though...LOL! I love to find deals!
And I think it is terrible the way Walmart throws plants away!! I tried so hard to get him to give them to me...or sell at a reduced price...and he wasn't allowed to do that. Said he HAD to throw them away!
That is ridiculous!!
You talk about savvy, look at Marcy! LOL You go girl! The people at Lowe's have become to know us quite well, too, and I can get reduced prices on some plants, but haven't asked for anything else! LOL
Now that's what I call good public relations!!! All gardening managers need are a few diehard gardeners who'd recommend other potential customers, drop a good word about the managers, and their jobs are secured!!
As for WM and their plants, if I can't say anything good about them, I won't! ;)

Here's one of the plants my sis,was going to leave outside,but I went over and got it,before the first freeze came.
Our Wm has mostly lousy selections. I did get a really tall red maple at the end of the season for $15 though last year. It probably was 7-8 ft tall. A good deal. lol
Lowes and HD I don't get to go to very often unless my dad needs stuff for work. Then I can't convince him to check out the garden area!! Grrrr!! lol
