You didn't see that bird in my coop! LOLOL Our Great Eastern Ruby Breasted Garden Hens are just the feathered kind.

Y'all crack me up.

Sheesh, I go away for the weekend and y'all get goofy. LOL. :-)

Wind, those 'Lolipop' lilies will likely get taller next year... Mine have increased into a good sized clump in the front bed, and they were at least 4 feet tall in bloom this year, quite stunning!

Sally, I will do my best to get out there this week and tag the unnamed DLs by color so I know which ones are peach! LOL @ Ruby's "coral" DL... can't fool me, that sure looks peach! Actually, I don't hate peach flowers (or orange ones) in somebody else's garden, but they never seem to fit in right with the pink and burgundy and purple colors that are my favorites!

I've got to download some more pictures I took in the garden on Friday... and I'll also be posting a bunch of photos from the Chihuly exhibit at Phipp's Conservatory (we went there this morning)... I'll find the best "red/pink" photo and post it on this thread, but I'm hoping some of the other photos came out well also... it was a really stunning installation of his glass sculptures among their wonderful plantings!

Glad that I was good for a laugh. ha-ha Chris, I have begun buying keyboards each time I shop. I am going through a stage where I keep spilling coffee on mine. You might get a hint why if you pay attention to the God Awful hours that I am on here. One of these days I might get my sleep patterns straight. I am now awake after spending about the past 12 hours on couch asleep. I finally had a day where other family members were away for the day and it was just me and the dogs. That was a good nap. Only problem is that I won't be worth a durn in the afternoon.

You are ALL the very greatest!!!

Hi! Everybody! Ya'll are too Much! I feel I really missed "something" by not going to the plant swap! :D Maybe next year!

Here is a peach....or is it pink?

We'll call that pink... it's too pretty to be peach, LOL!

There's a plant swap planned for this fall, Joey... September 8... in Frederick! :-)

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

I'll let music's DL be called pink. shell pink? that's wha they say when they mean very pale CORAL!!!!
I had a yellowish peachy rose this spring in by the blue and blue -white iris- I thought it was super. Maybe it was the yellow that did it.
ruby- you probably never get near a computer'show' but my husband got the keyboard really cheap at one of those. (to make up for the $$$$ he spent on other stuff?) I hope you don't have to spend too much on a keyboard.

Peterstown, WV(Zone 6a)

The blooms on my little Beautyberry busy opened to an unexpected delicate pink...

And this week the burgundy lilies in the front bed are opening early, or maybe the lavender is blooming a bit late, but the combination is stunning!

I've been lousy at getting pictures lately, but I do have this one - okay, maybe it's "cheating" a little - more white than red or pink but it's turning to a soft 'blush' :) Hydrangea macrophylla 'Nigra' - I loved the foliage on this one - very attractive black stems but now that it's bloomed I like it even better!

I started red ensign and blue ensign morning glories from seeds which were so healthy and hearty as seedlings; but upon being planted in hanging baskets they have been the only plant in the baskets getting attacked by aphids! I have sprayed them all several times to no avail...we have only had one blue bloom and this photo was the second red ensign bloom. The blooms shocked me at first they are really small, nothing like a morning glory in size. Has anyone had luck with this plant? I'm deciding on whether or not trying again next yr ~ I really like the combo in our baskets if only they would BLOOM more!!!!!!

Wind, can you spray those MGs with a hose to knock off the aphids? If your basket isn't too big, you might even be able to swish the plants around in a bucket of water to get them off. Aphids aren't too bright, and they don't seem to be able to climb back onto a plant, so knocking them off (and repeating for a few days as new ones hatch) seems to work pretty well.

First of all, I see new names here. Welcome everyone and thank you for sharing your pictures.

Sally, thanks for cheap keyboard idea. Actually I found 2 $9 ones at Walmart last week and bought them. The one I am typing on now was either $11 or$17 and I can't remember which, but worth either, if I am going to be out of commission. I called my vacation short because I couldn't get Internet access where we were staying. ha-ha

I got it bad, and will be the first to admit it. I am actually a little better about my Internet addiction that I was back in early 2000's. Now my first obsession seems to be gardening. ha-ha Oh well, it could be worse, a whole lot worse.

Ya'll take care and have a good day. I hope that everyone is staying cool. And oh yeah, HI MUSIC!!!!! I always love it when you pop back in. Good to see you.

Here's one of the Chihuly glass installations at Phipp's Conservatory in Pittsburgh -- an enormous pillar of glass chunks that look like hunks of rose quartz (or maybe rock candy).

And in the foreground, Crocosmia 'Lucifer'.

Very interesting submissions Critter. Cool!!!

The exhibit will continue through November, and it's well worth seeing! Phipp's Conservatory has recently completed a major renovation and expansion also, and even without Chihuly's stunning glass works it's an amazing place.

Here are some of the "Seaforms" he is known for... The sheer scale of the installations he did throughout the conservatory is remarkable.

Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

thanks also critter...I love glass work...his work is a bit on the wild side! Interesting to design it into a garden setting. I think that artist did some huge glass chandliers here in Atlantic City's borgata casino. I forwarded the link to my friend who has a glass studio but not sure if she can access this thread if she is not a member???

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

You're right... this forum is now only open to paying subscribers... I think nonpaying members can see the first post of any thread in the forum, but not the rest of the thread.

I'm sure she can google "Chihuly" and find lots of info... there have been some PBS specials on installations that he's done. I know one of the Las Vegas hotels has a bunch of his glass, and he did a remarkable exhibition in Venice once, with big glass "fishing floats" strung over the canals.

Oh, check out this site... http://www.chihuly.com/ That photo on the first page makes me want to go back to the Phipp's Conservatory exhibit at night!
