CANNA ?

Aurora, CO(Zone 5b)

Oh, no such implication intended. LOL Can get Wolf Blass, Penrod and such for abt $12 American. I always spot the alcohol in pics, but my drunk days are behind me (I survived somehow) Hop, skip and a jump of 18+ hours. Thank goodness international planes are better than domestic.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

vadap

Quoting:
How many cannas do you think you have going now?

With this latest lot of Yellows, I would have 35.
But that`s not 35 Different kinds.
This is the Yellow that I mentioned earlier in this thread .
The neighbour Slashes them with his tractor .
They are also where I got the seed from .

MMMM....an alcohol forum--see how that suggestion goes over with Dave! LOL
Never could go for wine-but anything from a Carribean Island, preferably spiced...yum
Have heard of the Great Barrier Reef but QLD? tourism
Oh how I wish I could be putting out cannas now-too cold, but they were peeking out just a few weeks ago before the frost hit them again.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Australia is made up of 6 States .
Queensland is one of them.
And because of the Tropical climate here.
We take the Lions share of Tourism.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Queensland-now I get it!
We Southerners are not well known for being particularly fast!
Here is a snow pic-as you can see, not very much--but nearly half the state closed down,
and I'm sure if you own an Auto Body Repair shop, you've got business, today!

If that is your back yard ,
I`m not surprised your Cannas are sleeping.

Aurora, CO(Zone 5b)

Add another 9" or so to the ground, which has been that way since December! LOL We hit -18*F this morning at 4am. Very windy also. We just had the 4th wettest(ie snow) January on record, and 8th coldest. Still have 3 of our normally wettest months to go!!! With yesterdays snow, we have surpassed our average annual snowfall in Denver metro area. 40's by mid-next week.

It sounds like You guys are going through hell.
Of cause with the opposite temperature.
I ask my self "WHY" ?
When you have a choice .
There are warmer spots in USA .
Are you a glutton for punishment ?
I admire yall for sticking it out .

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Vadap-our snows are so wimpy compared to yours, I have friends in CO--doesn't it usually melt about June?

ginger-yep, that's the back yard. It's all melted today, but still wet and pretty cold, about 45F. Probably won't see the cannas until March or April. Some crocuses are blooming, though! All I have to look forward too, now, but probably more than vadap!

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Heres a Pic to cheer you up.
And a link to the whole story.

Kell, this is a very unusual winter for us. The sun is out(blue skies) and that helps, especially if the wind wasn't blowing. With no wind and clear skies and sun out(say 10-3:30 this time of year) and abt 40's, which is more often normal, you could get by with jeans and a t-shirt. We are the "mile high" city, so being closer to the sun, and better angle of rays through the atmosphere, makes it feel warmer. We are known for having 350+ golf days in the year. And I am looking to move, but for more than just the weather. I grew up in Houston with to many 100* and 100% humidity days. No desire to live in the south again(will ALWAYS be a Texan though- 7th generation- gig 'em).
Tropicana, our snows USUALLY melt within a few days to week. Even our 4' blizzard we got in Mar '03 was mostly gone in abt 2 weeks. Our last frost date is Mothers Day, and 80's to 90's in June, 100 by July, and VERY dry.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Gosh, Kell (male or female, don't want to offend)-
I'm a vegetarian and don't know the first thing about cooking ribs other than the first time I saw a "riblet" it cracked me up-what part of an animal is the riblet , anyway!
But it does make me think of cookouts-I make bags of veggies out of foil, marinate, and grill them. MMM..nice thought.
I"m already on the rum forum, don't know about you..

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

How close is Aurora to Dylan?

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

"Mile High" City . ?
I think I`ll leave that one alone .
I`ll let some younger person go there . LOL
A younger person with a better memory .

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Kell ~a boy flower~
Where is the Rum forum ?

Aurora, CO(Zone 5b)

Rum?!?! Mile high, as in elevation is 5282' above sea level. People who come here from sea level tend to get winded very easy, and when we go to sea level, you have newfound strength and vigor, and I'll leave the rest of that alone. LOL Aurora is the east side of Denver, literally. If you mean Dillon, as in Keystone, Breckenridge and A Basin (ski resorts), its about 1 1/2 hrs w/o traffic. Takes about 30-40 minutes to drive across city to base of foothills.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Mile high-haha!
Glad I didn't say, "You go girl", Kell!
This is the rum forum as far as I'm concerned!LOL

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

It must've been Dillon (sp) I was thinking of when talking about snow in June-is that anywhere near reality, or should I give up?

Aurora, CO(Zone 5b)

You got it. Not so much getting snow, but they are high enough that a couple of resorts on the right side of the mountain try to stay open to July 4th. Not very good sking then, but...?

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Pretty laid back people in CO, I like that!

Aurora, CO(Zone 5b)

Not like it used to be. Population has doubled since 1990.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

=ruin of every great place, it's happening here, too, faster than I had ever thought it would.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

As a father of young 3 kids,
My thought is they have to live somewhere.
If these new Estates don`t get built,
Where is every one going to live .
And don`t say 'Home with Dad'

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Home with Dad. LOL

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

I SAID DON`T SAY THAT .
That sounds like Maxwell Smart . Don`t it ?

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

LOL. I had to. You said not to so I did. LOL. Yeah it does sound like Maxwell.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Hey Pep, Few new ppl here since your last visit.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Yep, saw that.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

What do you think of a Rum forum ?
A bit like a chat room,
For ppl with a common interest.
No not getting Smashed.
Home brewing and that type of stuff ? Kell

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

My old man homebrews, nice idea!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Sounds interesting.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

The New bird thread was started Because there was an interest.
I stopped going there cause they go at break neck speed.
If you didn`t post at least every hour .
Your thread finished up 3 pages back .
I got tired of going back all the time looking for it.

Pep haven`t seen you there for a bit ?

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

No, I had the same problem. I couldn't keep up.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

This is one of the Yellow cannas I planted 2 weeks ago.
I dug it up purely to see how much root it put out .
It was the Black part only to start with .

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

That canna looks real good.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Taa M8 .
When will we see some of your Pics ?

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Of cannas? This spring after I get them planted. It's only gonna get to 24*F today and gonna stay in that area for another week at least. Spring doesn't start til sometime next month if we're lucky.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

OK.
What about one of those with your Black hair and the funny hat ?
Post one of them here .

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Hold on. I took out most of my pics and put them on a cd to free up space. Gotta find it.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Pics don`t take up space on your hard drive .
Not enough to make any difference any way .
I have over 15000 of my own Pics .
And not one iota of difference to Load time .

If you break or scratch CD you loose everything .
