Midwest Lilies 3

Northwest, OH(Zone 5b)

NOW 'Samur' is blooming. :-)

Samur is lovely. Kathy Jan is really striking too. I have no idea who this is and don't seem to remember planting it last fall, but it's a new one for me this year and I like it. White with yellow center inside. About 2 1/2 foot tall this first year. Any ideas? i'm guessing maybe an OT.

I was disappointed with Luminaries last year, but I think it was because I planted it late and it was very hot when it bloomed. This year it looks like the catolog photo.

Luminaries looks great! As for the other, how about Ortega? http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/lilybulb_1902_13891869

I'm really excited about this one. China Express, an Asiapet. It went missing in 2004 and surprised me this year.

This was a lovely grouping of whites.. Don't know who they are either.... Edited to say that this is probably Antartica.

Once again, I'm floored by all the choices!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

So many beauties! How am I ever going to make a list for next year?? Ticker ~ I especially like that yellow/orange/red one. Is it a lost-name or a no-name?

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Moby, yeah, I like it too, but it's a "I haven't got a clue" lily. *sigh* I'll just have to go out on Lily Nook and see if I can see anything like it out there...

Thanks, I'll check em out.

Orange Giant sure looks like a nice one. I like Samur too. I had a couple new ones starting to open today, but did not get any photos taken. Moby, Ortega does seem to ring a bell. Looks like it too. got my new B&D catalog today and am making a wish list.

Wow! I just can't wait to hit the bulb sales this fall after looking at all these lovelies!! I'm up north now and missing some of my bloom, so I sure hope some will hold until I get back. Lost my Casa Blanca bloom to a big wind this year - snapped it off clean as a whistle. Fortunately I have some new ones to look forward to so it wasn't quite as devastating. Doeskin is doing great up here in zone 3, but not sure when it will bloom.

Oh, and, as a follow up:

This was back on the first thread of Midwest Lilies. Just wanted to let you guys know that my friend did confirm that this martagon is Claude Shride. She got it at Ambergate in Chaska. It really did put on a show!

Keep those pictures coming! I'm doing my shopping right here.

Always sad to lose an oriental :( Doeskin was one of my first to start blooming so it shouldn't be much longer for you.

Great lily shots! I have more lilies than last year, but other projects are keeping me busy.
I'm looking forward to the Iowa Lily Society tour on July 8th. Are you coming, Moby?

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Here's American Dream. It's a really tall one for me. I'll try to get a better photo when the light is different.

Back from vacation to a blooming lily garden. Amazing how much growth happens when you're gone a week.
Here is Latvia ....Count 24 buds on one of the stems!

That's amazing! Hope mine does that well next year. How old is your plant?

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

I bought the bulb in a pot 3 years ago from a very local garden center. It seems to be happy where I planted it. Two years ago I had 3 bulbs from one bulb, last year I had 6, this year a whoppin 9 from that original bulb! The original bulb is the one with 24 blossom count!
Sometimes the less you care about it, the better it does. I baby my Orientals and OTs and tell them they are my favorites! Then the Asiatic comes through like this, making me eat my words!

I don't think that is African Queen. The reverse should not be green.

Yest another one that went missing 2004, Peach Butterflies. LOL, when I first saw it peeking through the foliage, I thought, that's the uglist orange tiger I've ever seen. It took me awhile before it dawned on me what it really was.

Did you call? LOL I NEED to get that lily....

Oooooh, I love those Royal Sunsets!!!

Columbia Heights, MN(Zone 4a)

I bought Wanda at the NSLS Fall Bulb Sale in 2004. I think I've seen it in the Lily Garden catalog. You might try looking there. It's on the short side. Maybe about 2 to 2.5 feet tall. Mine are more like 2.
