And that first white lily in this thread - Nepal, also not to be confused with Lilium nepalense.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Thanks, Lefty ~ I meant to go back and add the latin name. :)

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Wow, you guys have some really nice lilies! Yeppers, I'm going to have to start buying them from Lily Nook or Lily Garden. Where else do you get them from?

I always had great bulbs and service from B&D Lilies http://www.snowcreekdaylilies.com/lily-bulbs-2006.html

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

beaker - nice lilies! - when is the 'bare' -ing to be? Can we watch? LOL

Columbia Heights, MN(Zone 4a)

You know, I thought about whether it was bare or bear and I guess I guessed wrong. LOL, English has never been my top subject.

Het, Lefty, that's the name of one of my cats.

I also find a lot of nice potted ones locally at Bachman's towards the end of summer when they are on sale. They always seem to do really well over winter. I also pick up quite a few at our lily society bulb sale.

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

One that is blooming in our yard now.
Much needed rain fell here all day. Total so far 3" plus 3/10"

Maxine - Your pinks seem to be a lot pinker than my pinks.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

WOW! You guys are sure making up for lost time ~ Great lilies!

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

What type of camera are you all using? I have a Nikon Coolpix 4800, and I like it, but am always interested in what other folks use... I got this Nikon primarily for the optical zoom, 8.3.

And yes, you guys are making up for lost time! :)

I have the same camera but it's a 5200.

Columbia Heights, MN(Zone 4a)

I have a Kodak 330 and for being cheap, the colors are pretty true. I'm having a realy hard time because I can't figure out all the exposure stuff. I'm beginning to like cloudy days because my pictures are better when the sun isn't shining.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

I have Olympus D560 - wanted the higher one, but too much moolah. :) I agree on the cloudy days - seems like especially with this digital camera, cloudy days are best.

Divernon, IL(Zone 5b)

I use a Kodak Z730 w/ 10X optical zoom mostly; a Sony DSC-P6 for sunny days. Some of the best shots are at night.

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

Mine is an Olympus d-560 zoom, 3.2 megapixel, 10X zoom.
At least 4 yrs. old, but am thinking of purchasing a new one maybe later in the yr. The prices have drastically came down since I purchased it. It was rated No. 1 when purchased.
Has always taken excellent pics. true to color, etc.

Have a great day.

Prophetstown, IL(Zone 5a)

wow, Maxine, your lilies are gorgeous!

I've never seen so many different lilies in one place. I love all of them.

Formosa lily. Not the best photo, but better color than the other photo I took.

Beak- I think your pictures are pretty good, as are yur lilies! Have you played around with the color saturation in your photo editor? I've been playing with mine and think I have improved on pics, especially when the flash goes off the pics look too blue. Is Viva lighter in the center or is it just the lighting?

Columbia Heights, MN(Zone 4a)

As soon as I find out what color saturation is, I'll look into it. Is there another name for it? Never heard that term before. Yes it does get lighter in the center, but I don't think it's as obvious up close and personal as it is in the picture. The color is sort of an enigma. Sometimes it looks like a true orange, sometimes a red, sometimes a reddish orange. I think it depends on the time of day. I just love this one. Tiny, nodding flowers with no spotting and it's slightly fragrant.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Beaker, wonderful pictures!! I really like that pink perfection! Very nice. I had a bunch more pop today, but didn't have time to go out and snap any pictures. I'm in the hosta beds weeding and I need to stay there and get things under control. :) But when I get home tomorrow night I'll try to get out and get some more snapped... I also need to spray everyone with messenger and then fertilize everyone.... I need a month off or an army of bored 13 year olds who want to make some money... :)

A 13 year old in my garden....shudder. A few years ago, I fell off a ladder and messed up my right arm. It wasn't broken, but every muscle must have been pulled. A friend gave me her 15 year old son to help me with yard work for a few months. I don't even know where to begin with everything he destoyed, including my garage door. Young and dumb is not what anyone needs in their garden.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Good point. Maybe I'll just keep at it myself. See, that's the problem, I don't want to just turn any one loose in my garden. I really don't even let my husband in them too much. I had a couple of neighbor boys, 10 and 12 a the time, (who are now grown men) and they were fantastic. They worked their tails off and were very careful of stuff. Of course, they were doing mostly clean up and raking. Those boys were worth their weight in gold. One's is the Army now working on helicopters and the other one is waiting to go to Highway Patrol training...

Love the Pink Perfection -hope mine opens soon. It's blooms last year were lost to that late frost we had. I'm so anxious to see it.
