Taz I have same problem. Takes forever to load one pic and it may or may not take it. Your pics are beautiful.... keep trying... they are sure nice once you get them here... :)

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Patty, how big are the jpeg files (digital pictures) you are loading? If I forget & try to load a BIG one---it takes forever! most of my stored files are 50-85 KB.
Check the properties of your pics.

Off to the Iowa Round Up tommorrow. Moby, llilyfan and I are scheming....

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

have fun and make a paper tazzy and take with you so i wont feel left out
LOL

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

I don't think a paper Tazzy would have survived this one! We'd all be grabbing an arm, leg or whatever--"over here ,Tazzy"---"Which iris shall I take , Tazzy?" All at the same time , but all directions. it was that kind of day. Exhausting & FUN!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Everyone's Iris are so pretty! What is it about Iris and Daylilies that makes them so special? I could spend hours looking at photos of them. I've just added 8 to my wish list. The only problem is I have no more room to plant. Guess I will have to start getting rid of some I have too many of.

Susan

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

I spent last summer cleaning out daylilies that were too similiar--you would be surprised at all the room I "found" that way! I'll be evaluating my iris this spring .

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

I love all the pictures posted here... what a very nice thread... I particularly like that Granpa's Girl.

A very close friend of mine, Donna, passed away last April 2004 of pancreatic cancer. I miss her a lot. She had two iris in her garden, a yellow and a soft blue, and gave me some of them. I was tickled to see them blooming today...

here is the yellow...

and here is the soft blue one... it has a bit of a treat in the middle... I am not sure how to describe it... but I will try to get a better photo of it tomorrow....

the crinkled standerds are the ID point very few have this crinkled look in standerds .

It's nice that you have 2 such pretty Iris to remember your friend by fsr333. I treasure plants that remind me of their previous owners. Here is a photo I took this AM of the narrow strip between the sidewalk and the street out in front of my house. Lots of the varigated Iris in bloom and the first bloom on Stepping Out which is the first tall bearded Iris I ever planted. I have been growing it for over 20 years and still love it.

Susan--your garden must be a treat for neighbors passing by...

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Susan I love that you planted the strip by the street. I really would love to do that too! Cept, mine is about........3 x 3, and has a water main cover in the center of it!

Tazzy I'm so amazed with your knowledge of iris cultivars.

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

Thank You, Tazzy! It is so nice of you to share your knowledge with me and ID these iris. I appreciate it very much! Donna had a great sense of humor and y'all would have liked her.

Susan, I also treasure plants I get from friends and love to see them come up each year. Your strip out front is really nice and I bet so many people enjoy it!

Hello to All....

a pic of Donna....

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Sue, can't you surround that watercover with plants to hide it? My strip is about 6' by 40', so just a nice width to work with. Good thing the street I live on is not too busy because I sit in the street sometimes to weed it. I do have lots of people stop and talk to me as I'm gardening, which is always fun. I've ended up meeting lots of other gardeners that way and doing a lot of trading.

Susan

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

Susan your
Blue and white iris could be stepping out or Going My Way ?think the other are Palldia's
They make a lovely blooming bed in front of your house

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Hi Susan, I wish I could :) The water main cover is so big it leaves very little room for anything but 4 strips of grass. :( The city comes and opens the cover quite a bit too.

I have a garden island in my front yard that I change frequently. I have met many of my neighbors while working out front. It is a nice ice breaker. Most people are interested in learning about the plants and once in a while I will get a complement on how nice it looks. Makes it all worth while!

Sorry to hijack!

Back to the iris! :-D
