Arilbred Irises - are beauties too!

Gee, Margie, that arilbred you posted really is disgusting. You just send it to me and I'll give it a good talking to. LOL

Well...................... I just may be getting rid of it this year to make room for others. If I do - - I'll let you give that iris a 'good talking to'. LOL

This little one opened today. I got it as "Vera Louise," but haven't been able to verify it yet. Does anyone else grow this one who can compare it with theirs?

Thanks

Oh Neil..................... I've got to get that one someday!! Gorgeous. Yes, it is "Vera Louise". I don't grow - - but I've seen other photos of it, and the description matches.

Hi Margie-

I got Vera Louise and Vera Merina in a trade last year. They haven't established well or I'd offer you a piece of it. But I'll send you the trader's email in a private mail. I'm in contact with him and I know he's looking to set up some trades for this year.

Neil, I really like 'Vera Louise', the colors contrast beautifully.

Margie, i really appreciate all the pictures. I planted about 30 aril breds last year, having covetted them for years and finally being in a garden where they would (perhaps) thrive. almost all of them have made it through the winter and are thriving.

No bloom yet, of course in this miserable excuse for a spring, so your pictures are doubly welcome.

I got most of them from Malevil Gardens, and notice you don't mention them above. They have a wonderful inventory of ABs and are fine people to deal with. Have you had different experience or just not ordered from them?

Hi M,
Wow! Sounds like you have a nice bunch of arilbreds to look forward to this spring. I hope they do well for you. Don't be surprised if you lose one two - - some can be finicky growers.

I've never ordered from Malevil Gardens. They have a great website with what seems to be pretty decent prices. You never know - - I just may have to order from them this year. :-)

I hope your spring turns nice soon, so you can enjoy those irises!!

Yes, i am looking forward to them (even breathlessly). Malevil sent me some nice bonuses, including one of their own breeding -- Burnished Star and one of Sharon McCallisters -- Cup Runneth Over. In spite of the fact that I ordered embarassingly late, only a few plants were out of stock and the rhizomes arrived nice and fat, though not enormous -- but then neither was the price.

I am very glad to hear that you haven't had bad experience with them -- the spectre of wrong names is always with us. (well, me anyhow)
:>)
