2009 Lily Blooms #10 and the fireworks continue!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Black Beauty has the same problem with photos. I seem to get a lot of shots of it's backside.

My Black Beauty is blooming and I tried yesterday to get a good pic and finally gave up.

So I settled for Montezuma instead!

Such lovely blossoms. Don't you just hate it when they won't look the way you want them to, in terms of pictures? I have one I have photographed 3 times and I think you won't ever see it because the camera is in this odd position and for some darn reason it would rather focus on the neighbor's house than the flower. Ugh.

Here is 'Paramount' after a night of rain

And I thought I would do two in a row for Moby's comparison

1st is 'Flashpoint' I think it has a slightly different flower form and a definite white edge.

Then 'Invasion' a creamer to light yellow edge and more curved form, less intense red.

The last of my Sims Trumpet Seedlings. I've really enjoyed them.

I was thinking the same thing about it smelling good!

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

It does smell so very good here. Don't you wish there was smellivision, at least in cases like these?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

YES!! lol

The tag says 'Montego Bay' , my 1st time seeing them bloom.
Is it M.Bay??

'Mistress' FFO what a short little cutie! I don't think it's more than 10".

That looks like my Montego Bay, but I think we got em from the same place (the co op, right?). Matches the pics I've seen too.

I got this one from my DGD school fund raiser.

'Gran Cru' is one of the ones i've had in my garden for over 8 years now .

This one is a fund raiser too.

Good to see those NE lilies. Why is it that everybody grows 'Megan' looking good and mine, well she always looks pathetic. I keep her around because of you guys and your pictures. It gives me hope, you know?

I thought I'd give a few examples i have of the cooler weather showing those nice colors that we normally never get to see in the Midwest.

I think 'Silk Road' has never looked finer here. Note the pink hue around the edges.

'Starburst Sensation'

'Porcelain Doll' doesn't ever have a pink hue on the edges, not for me.

I ran out and took another picture of Montego Bay, seems to be getting deeper colors. Maybe because it hasn't gotten over 70 here in several days.

So as much as this cooler weather wrecked my camping rip, the lilies are quite exceptional.

'Boogie Woogie' has never looked at all pink. But look at this:

It is strange how temperature really changes things?

Boogie is very pretty in pink!! lol
Mine was like that the first year I bought it, but always looked washed out after that. I'm hoping these cool temps make mine tickled pink too!

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Mags, look like your Boogie does have some Woogie after all! Very nice.

Ramona, if you tire of any of those NOIDs in your gardens they can come live on the farm in Iowa. :) LOL

Poland, ME

I have so many NOIDS that I couldn't afford to send them to anyone! LOL

This thread is still phenomenal. I usually go through the posted lily pics in the winter and select my favorites of yours to add to my collection...no WAY I can get as many as I'd like. These are just incredible...and Mags just never stops...I can't imagine having the space for that many and the option to leave them in the ground...

Now, Ramona...We'll gladly pay postage to take your beautiful but nameless children off your hands...

I definitely see what the temps do to the colors. Mine are always deeper, but many have gotten washed out in a day with the heat we've had this summer. Some I don't even recognize after a day or two.

Oh, they are all stunning. That SALMON STAR is soooooo pretty.

Can someone please explain this "Queen Strain" that you all keep posting pictures of from buggy. They look really good :-))
