Seeing this array of gorgeous lilies makes me almost sick with envy. So little room here.

But then, in the category of counting one's blessings, Black Beauty starts opening up, and I think I don't really need a lily more pleasing than this.

And I can't seem to stop taking pictures of Scheherezade. The blooms hold on so well. So luscious.

Aren't they fantastic? Now if they just had fragrance.... they look like they ought to.

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

I know! My Black Beauties are too far away to get a whiff of even if they did smell. So I don't miss the scent. But Scheherezade has a faint scent, doesn't it? It seems to me it does. Or did I just imagine it?

Love that stand of Schez. She really likes it there ;) What can you say about a lily that performs that well? Amazing strength!

NYR- those orientals are beautiful. 'Dizzy' is a really strong grower here. Your mass plantings must have the neighborhood in heaven.

I bought the spotted oriental mix from VB Wholesale two years ago, dug a big trench and planted them. They looked good last year but this year they are just stunning. The bulbs were planted two rows and very close to each other so there is lots of color and bloom. I really like the way it turned out.

Mags, your Satin Slippers looks completely different from the ones that were traded to me, and both look different from the plantfiles postings. Here's mine, if I can find the pic:

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

no kidding!!... you had to smell it last week ... when I got home from work the one day.. it just stopped raining... the whole yard was flooded with the scent... really wonderful.. Randy actually asked when we dig that one up this fall.. if we can put some closer to the house... LOL

I just happened to mention since Pixie sent me all these nice bulbs... don't you think we should give her one of those???.... he agreed ... so hope all goes well
