Plants of this size typically cost around $3.99 in nearly any nursery I have shopped at, even those nurseries whose prices surpass most other places. Instead of covering the soil of the containers with plastic in order to conserve moisture, these plants were shipped with some masking tape applied to the edges of the containers, leaving most of the soil bare. This worthless tape was applied in a sloppy manner -- kind of just stuck here and there along the edges. Why Hirt's bothered to use masking tape is baffling; it served no purpose whatsoever. It was obvious to me that these plants had not been watered prior to shipping and care had not been taken to ensure that they would not be dried out upon receipt of the order. I have no intention of ever ordering another thing from this substandard nursery. |
