The company was upfront about a 10 day delay to ship due to high volume, but taking that into account, they arrived right on time. The plants arrived looking great, very well packaged. Very good price as well. |

I just received my first order and very happy with nice size and healthy geraniums. Besides I'm thankful for the assistance I received with questions and payment errors I made. It does take a little longer to receive the order but well worth waiting. Will definitely order again when some of the plants I wanted are back in stock. |

My only complaint? That they do not use correct names on the website. The plants I received were well packed, wrapped in newspaper and bubble wrap to keep the soil from spilling. The nummularioides is HUGE, each branch being over a foot long, with very little leaf loss. The curtisii is a bit on the small side, but for the price paid, it's quite a deal. I found a bit of the hard, brown scale on the publicalyx, but it wasn't anything too complicated to deal with, and I easily squished what was there. I don't expect any issues. Australis leaves are beautiful and unmarred, and I am pleased with this purchase. |

When I saw that Pepper's Accent offered many of the same plants in larger pots and for less money, I decided to give them a shot! Well, I received my package today ~ very fast shipping! ~ and when I unpacked the plants I was a very happy camper. Great care was taken to ensure the plants were delivered in the best condition, not necessarily an easy task given our unforgiving heat. As I unwrapped each one, I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the plants. They were in no way "skimpy". I will definitely buy from them again! |

Negative | garden4truth (1 review) | On Jul 26, 2010, garden4truth Pittsburgh, PA wrote: Just received my order of 6 Arizona Sun Gaillardia today. There's a total of one and a half dying flower and ALL of them had yellow, wilting leaves. Not one of them had healthy leaves on half the plant. I am hesitant to even spend the time to plant them in ground. The way is was packaged and shipped couldn't have helped. They came in wrapped in USPS packaging tape, all placed sideways in a standard USPS box - two layers separated by a cardboad. Had it not been the one and a half wilting flowers, I would have thought I received 6 pots of 4" weeds! Definitely a lesson learned. |

My most recent order arrived quickly, and although the plants were smaller than I've gotten from them in the past, they are healthy and very well packed, as usual. However, a few months ago I ordered a Columnea Fujiyama from Accents. Since I hadn't had one before, I assumed it was the correct plant. A couple of months after I got it, it bloomed one bloom. I saw that it looked nothing like a Fujiyama bloom, so I posted it here, and was told it was indeed not a columnea, but some sort of x-Codonanthe. I looked at the link the person provided, and sure enough, they are correct. I was sent the wrong plant. Well, I like the plant, but did nevertheless want to let Accents know of their mistake, so I emailed them. I was very cordial, and told them that even though it was the wrong plant, I would still do business with them. Well, I never even got a reply to my email. I had expected them to offer to send me the correct plant, or at LEAST to apologize for their mistake. I didn't get either one. Never even an acknowledgement of my email. I was very disappointed. I realize mistakes can be made, but I feel this was very bad business for them not to even bother to reply. Even though they have very reasonable prices and healthy plants, I'm not sure if I'll order from them again. I got first a very angry letter from him but later, in several exchanges he explained to me that the 10 plants his website indicated was a wrong datum, because actually he didn't have any sinaloa sage, he lost even the mother plant during this winter. I think think that had he notified me in advance all these could have been avoided but that does not mean that I want to with was myself of my rushing to conclusion to fast. The sale slip was a bit confusing. In fact he didn't charge $13 for the shipping alone, but in toto $13 for the 2 pots of tarragon and the shipping. I just double-checked this vith my CC carrier and this is the fact. So, while I am very sorry that I didn't get my favorite edging plants for the tarragons I got a very fair deal shipping included. Of course, I will send him an email with my apologies but I think a public correction of my previous statement and an apology of mine in this case mean much more to him since this could effect his nursery's reputation. On April 13th, 2010, Nigella changed the rating from neutral to negative and added the following: The owner bombarded me with emails after emails ( that I must straighten up things on Dave garden and I told him that I would do that as soon as I talked to my Visa credit card company. But every email was very rude, no salutation and the mails were closed either by nothing or by 'my name is Fred'. I told him in my answers that he could have been more polite and rudeness is not part of our dealing. I also mentioned that if he could spare so much time to write rude emails, maybe he could have spent two minutes to notify me in advance,in late March, that he would not send me those Sinaloa sages and this could have saved him a negative evaluation on Garden Watchdog and a huge disappointment for me. His answer was that he has no time for corresponding. However, on April 8, after I posted my comment on "Dave" I got 4 email from him. And several emails the following days. Not one closed with "sincerely", or started with a proper salutation. Yesterday I apologized to him in private and in public. Did he say a thank you? NO. So this man is rude by nature, I am sorry to say. I can believe that he lost his sage plants. However his manner is not what I am used to getting in trade in this country. A minimal courtesy is necessary in business. I get 98% of my plants by mail but I would not have a garden if online vendors acted like he did. On April 13th, 2010, Nigella added the following: The owner bombarded me with emails after emails that I must straighten up things on Dave garden, and I told him that I would do that as soon as I talked to my Visa credit card company to verify how much I was charged. Positive | atisch (1 review) | On Mar 30, 2010, atisch Alameda, CA (Zone 9b) wrote: I discovered Accent's/Pepper's about six months ago and I originally purchased 4 plants. All were plants that I either couldn't find elsewhere or for much less than I found elsewhere. One example from this order was an established Hoya imperialis in a 4" pot for $5.95. If you have ever priced potted Hoyas, particularly choice species like this one, its price--and availability--may very well elicit skepticism. I certainly did for me. Since that first order, I have placed upwards of 10 others for a total of upwards of 50 plants. I am no longer skeptical of anything they offer as I have been convinced that with them the unusual value is an everyday experience. |

The order was not correct and they lied when they claimed that a certain plant was unavailable and that the refund (in dollar bills yet) was somewhere in the plant boxes. The plant was still being sold on their website that day. I do not have any idea why they decided to cheat me out of seven dollars but I do know that I would not order a dead weed from them. If you do order make sure to use paypal as they will get your money back. The plants that were sent were not worth the effort it took to keep them alive/I should have tossed the lot onto the compost heap. If you want to be cheated and lied to order here. |

I posted a pic on the begonia forum and some of the DG friends thought I should email/write or phone and let them know. I emailed Mr. Pepper and was told they do not send pieces of plants and that I had planted the leaves with no roots, the plants were too wet and in too big a pot. I had JUST gotten them, they did not have time to get in this kind of shape! I had just planted them and washed the dirt off the main plant and the small rooted pieces - of course they were wet!! I have been gardening for over twenty years and my yard and gardens has been on several city and garden tours, I think I know a piece of a plant with roots on it when I see it and I know a POOR quality plant with blackened edges when I take it out of the box. There are too many other nurseries out there to buy from rather than to deal with a rude individual such as this who insinuates his first time buyer/customer (which I was)are such stupid gardeners! This was my first and LAST dealings with Peppers Greenhouse! |
Positive | atajr (3 reviews) | On Aug 7, 2009, atajr Detroit, MI wrote: Three months ago, in the spring, I placed an order for a few small advertised Cleyera plants from Pepper's. I sent in my check, and noticed it cleared a few weeks later on my bank statement. Anxious to receive my plants, I emailed Pepper's, inquiring when I could expect my plants. I received a response the next day. They informed me that these plants would not survive in my climate, and promptly asked if I wanted a refund. I then said in another email, that I had a greenhouse for the plants, and was still interested. They then informed me that their Cleyera plants were too small, and were waiting for them to get bigger. On August 14th, 2009, atajr changed the rating from negative to positive and added the following: Yesterday, I received my beautiful Cleyera plants. They were packed well, and received in excellent condition. I previously gave a negative rating because, after an earlier response from Pepper's, I thought they didn't want my business, and after about a four month wait for my plants, it appeared my hunch was correct. However, after posting my dilemma, Pepper's contacted me within one day, and cited being on vacation as reason for the delay in getting back with me, after I recently "re-queried" as to when my plants would ship. All in all, there was probably just poor communication between us. |

Unfortunately I did not read the "in stock" numbers for the items, and in less than 20 mintues I received a very nice email from them stating 2 items were out of stock. They asked if I wanted the one plant, or did I want to order other items? I apologized and asked that the order be cancelled. I received another nice email very quickly stating that it had been. With 1/2 hour the money had been refunded back into PayPal. My point is, WOW! With customer service like this for a cancellation, why would you not order from them? I will do so as soon as the ones I wanted are back in stock. On July 29th, 2009, ChuLin changed the rating from positive to negative and added the following: On 7/23 I emailed a 3-plant order; paid with PayPal. I received an email stating all three had been sent on Sat the 25th. I received the plants yesterday, but one begonia was missing and a not stated it was out of stock. It was listed as instock when I did the order. I wish I had been contacted as I could have picked another plant. The money and shipping cost for the missing plant has been refunded to Paypal. However, I cannot recommend this company, and would not order from them again. The two plants I received are spindley and do not look good. I was very disappointed. Had I seen these two plants anywhere, I would not have considered buying them for even a dollar each. I do not DO rescue plants...which is what they look like. I had high hopes when I ordered, but was sadly disappointed. On July 29th, 2009, ChuLin added the following: Oh, did I mention the centipedeS?
