Comments regarding Accents for Home and Garden (Pepper's Greenhouse)

First time ordering: 3 Sinningia, 2 pomegranates, 1 hibiscus, 1 orange jasmine. Got a UPS click-it message with tracking number 2 days after ordering. Plants arrived in very good shape - a bit on the dry side, but they recovered well. I found that the price per plant is one of the better deals available. The shipping is somewhat expensive (about 50% for an admittedly small order), but I found it to be a good deal altogether, considering what other companies charge for similar sized plants. In other words: I found that Pepper's price per plant plus shipping per plant still comes out less expensive than similar size plants plus shipping from other companies. I will order again from this company.

It's been over a year since last order. I think I just bought from these guys once, but it was a big order. I bought a j. Sambac moe, a chenille, justicia, philodendron pink princess, and a couple others I don't remember what. All arrived nice, the philodendron was enormous and too heavy for the pot to support it. Wow things have changed a lot in just over a year. I just up potted that sambac to a 3g, that chenille is in a 5g. I'm done with this review.

On August 28 I placed an order for a "madusa's head" and "flame leaf spurge. I never received a confirmation eMail or tracking number.

My messages were curt and the responses, were all repetitive of how an eMail is sent right after a purchase was made. None of the response had given me the information requested; confirmation, tracking number...

Adding insult to injury, pictures online are terribly misleading. The plants received were in a USPS box that looked like it was trampled on and the plants themselves looked just as bad as the box they came in.

I ordered a number of plants from Pepper's. The plants were
a nice size, for the price. Well packed and healthy! I just placed another order!

This is my second order with them.

I placed a small order in May. Fred contacted to let me know that a few of the plants were small and would be a few weeks. I actually changed my m ind a few weeks in and asked if I could get another item (Fatsia japonica "Camouflauge" after seeing a friends plant from them). Fred promptly replied and let me know what the additional cost would be. This was on Friday, order went out Monday afternoon with delivery confirmation emailed to me. Plant arrived perfectly packed, and I could not have hand picked a nicer plant myself, nice 2 gallon pot.

I have ordered last year several tropicals and they were well rooted and packed. Very pleased with the communication from Fred. Would defintely order again. Thank you!

i have ordered 4 plants from peppers greenhouse.and all of them is healthy and beautiful. just perfect, thank you,

Two of the plants they sent me had a fungal disease. I took photos with them still partly in their packaging and sent them to them, asking what I should do if one or both died. No response. Sure enough, one died. I sent another email telling them this, and again no response. I don't recommend them at all and won't order from Pepper's Greenhouse again.

How do these people stay in business? I placed an order with them over two and a half weeks ago and have neither heard from them nor received my order. I have emailed them and called and left a message - still NOTHING! I will not order from them again....if I can't find a plant somewhere else, I will do without.

I bought three each lavender and anemone. I contacted this company by e-mail twice and informed them that none of the three anemone have shown any sign of life yet. Considering it is June, I don't think these plants have survived and they have yet to respond to my request for advice. I don't like leaving negative feedback, but I feel I have no other choice.

Good experience with this company. All the plants ordered were well wrapped for transport, and all look wonderfully healthy. Also had very good communication with Fred. Very happy and will do business again.

I placed an order last week for 2 jasmine plants.
They haven't shipped yet. I emailed them 2 days ago to cancel as per website. No response. I called them and they didn't bother checking my order. Said we will respond to email. I told them I sent email 2 days ago with no response thus I m calling today. She goes we are very busy with running the nursery we will respond to ur email. And hung up !
No professionalism. I m also very busy. But I managed to email n call. Be courteous and respect my time as well. I ll not b ordering from them again. There is no communication n lady was arrogant. Regret ordering .

I found this company on the web when I was looking for a particular plant. I was drawn in by the low prices on some things that I had been wanting and I did put in the order. I did receive a confirmation right away and the next day I got a Click-N-Ship® shipping notification telling me that my plants would be shipped on the 3rd and they arrived today which is the 5th. The pots were all 4x4 not 3x3 or 2x2. I really liked the packing method also none of the dirt was spilled or missing from the pots. Nice plants and I do recommend them to everyone and I will do more business with this company.

I live in southern Delaware, and my experience with Accents (Pepper's) is therefore from visiting the nursery rather than mail-ordering from them. I moved here 2 years ago and joined the Delaware Master Gardeners (was an MG in my former location). Pepper's was the first recommendation many of my fellow MGs gave for a local nursery. It surprised me to see on this site that they have a mail order business. It's a family company and the nursery is huge, with a really extensive variety of plant offerings and garden-related products and a well-organized and well-signed layout. It is worth a shopping trip if you live within a reasonable drive. The plants are very healthy in my experience, the prices are generally very good, and in spring the multi-packs of annual flower and vegetable seedlings are particularly inexpensive.

This is my 2nd experience in dealing with this company and I would rate both of them a 5 STAR ***** rating.I didn't rate the first dealing as I could not figure how to do it out as I am not all that PC Savvy. So now I got help and I can do it. The shipping was lightning quick and pkging was the ultimate.His communication was not so good first time around but it was a fast in all nurseries it seemed so I can not fault him there but the size and qualty of plants are really qualifyingly excellent.I have told people onnline about him and the things he has and I keep checking on items I want from there.

This seller sucks. I ordered a mint tree and in three days it was dead. I contacted the seller and he did not contact me back. I told him that I would Contact Paypal and he finally he contacted me and said send it back.I asked him for a shipping label and no contact again. I contacted paypal and they ruled in my favor.Don't buy from him!

The plant came when it was supposed to. There was slight damage to the packaging but the plant was okay. Its still alive, I put it in a pot the moment it came to my door. Its still alive, its been 6 wks.

I ordered online on 10May - 24 variegated hakone and 10 gold hakone in two transactions. I received no email confirmation or any correspondence to confirm the order (only indication was the charge on my credit card). At no time did I receive an invoice/receipt or confirmation of shipping.

By 26May, still nothing. I emailed. I was told then, one part of the order was shipping and that the remainder was on back-order. I finally received the first 24 plants early in June and 10 plants in early July.

Obviously, had this information been available or communicated, this would have led me to purchase elsewhere. Instead, my card was immediately charged and I had to chase Peppers' staff to get information. In all correspondence, I received only blunt one-liner responses.

The plants are indeed well packaged and arrive in good condition, but don't be fooled by low plant prices - shipping & handling is astronomical and should be reflective of the expectation of service.

I am disappointed.

I recently ordered 3 fuchsia and they came well wrapped and were a wonderful size. Two even had buds on them. I am pleased with their swiftness in posting them. Surely I will buy from them again.

This was my first order from Accents for Home and Garden and I am very pleased! The plants were packed well and were very healthy and large. They have a nice selection of plants, and very reasonable plant prices and shipping charges. This was my first purchase but it will not be my last!

Today I received my first order with this company. I am very impressed. I pre-ordered my plants and they were shipped on time. They were very well packed. They were wrapped and taped to hold the soil in and then wrapped with 2 layers of newsprint to protect the foliage.
The plants, 15 of them, are very robust and healthy appearing. They are the type of plants that I would choose for myself from any local nursery. Each plant was given very specific growing requirements.
All in all, a very nice company. Great plants, good packaging and kept to the shipping schedule. Nice plants at a very fair price. I will be ordering from them again!

The good: most of the plants looked really good, Some where quite large (8 inch+) and had good root systems, also (as occasionally happens with nursery stock) one of the trees I got separated into two well rooted trees. They also had a plant that was in stock but said that they don't ship it till mid summer which is mildly annoying but they gave me a refund for it and the shipping.

The bad: 2 of the 7 were pretty root-bound, they were poorly package, wrapped in newspaper and laid in the box with nothing stopping them for bouncing around. Some plants were quite bent up but not many broken limbs since it was mostly herbs. The jiao-gu-lan I ordered both looked dismal, dead bits and extremely small (one with just a few leaves above the surface),

Overall I'd prefer they packaged them a bit better but for the price the plants were nice and I might order from them again.

I ordered a Candy Corn Vine and I love it. It arrived very healthy and strong with the beginning of several flowers. I will order from this company again :)

I ordered a Purple Passion and Wandering Jew plant in December 2012. I'm in freezing Illinois and had to wait for warmer weather. No problem! He sent my plants the very first 3 32 degree nights we had in March. They were gorgeous and packed extremely well. I'm very happy with my purchase. Thank You Pepper's!

We received our order quicker than we expected. The three plants we received were in excellent condition.

I received my well-packed and lovingly cared-for plants and am quite pleased with the service. My order was processed and shipped quickly and everything arrived without a leaf out of place. I can't wait to try my hand at growing my own tea!

This is my very 1st PLANT mail order and I could not be ANY HAPPIER with my products. I ordered 6 Hoyas and thought about ordering more in that shipment. Mr. Fred was kind enough to let me know in advance that he did not carry what I wanted to add. Somehow in the process though he was kind enough to throw in an extra HOYA! Talk about a pleasant SURPRISE. My plants showed up very healthy and each one individually WRAPPED EXTREMELY well. Something I've never seen before that Mr. Fred does is provide taped description & care instructions on the pot of each plant. That to me goes above and beyond any level of service I could have expected. I wondered about the "Shipping charge" but with that kind of care IT'S WORTH IT! Thank you Mr. Fred -- Your customer for LIFE!!!

I love the plant selection. My experience with this company has been A +++.
I received beautiful ,healthy plants from them. I have jasmines, crossandra, aglaia,gardenias and few other tropicals from them. I am embarrassed to say ,I requested a couple of order changes closer to the shipping date and they graciously complied. I am thankful for that.
The shipping is reasonable and the customer service is GREAT. The packaging is wonderful. I definitely recommend this store and would never hesitate to order again.

I love this place! Luckily, I live close enough to actually visit the shop/greenhouses often! I have also ordered from their website. The prices are great, the plants are always healthy, and (in store) the customer service is always excellent. Pepper's has your every day favorites and a huge selection of unique and rare plants. If you're ever in the area of southern Delaware, I definitely recommend setting aside an hour or two to visit Pepper's!!

I just received 5 Salvia plants from this vendor. Although the shipping charge is rather expensive, the plants are green and healthy, were well packaged, and arrived promptly. Green Thumbs Up to Pepper's Greenhouse.

Hoping to do business here in the future, however so far the customer service appears to be lacking. I placed my test order a couple of months ago for three Spigelia Marilandica (Indian Pinks or Maryland Pinks).

After a few weeks there is still no sign of life on any of the three. I sent an e-mail to ask for care instructions and to ask about how long it should take for them to sprout.

No answer to the e-mail so far. I tried calling but I was abruptly informed that they would not answer my question over the phone because they are swamped and to just be patient and wait for a response to the e-mail.

I know people can be abrupt when it is very busy, but brisk business means good profits and I feel that customer care and service is as important as taking in the order and getting credit card info for the sale.

I strongly recommend that you adopt a business plan that will allow you to slow down long enough to answer a question, or else hire someone to answer customer inquiries and promptly respond to e-mails.

I ordered because i wanted a Pagoda plant which it said was in stock but it wasn't. My package arrived in good time and the plants look fine, however, shipping and packaging is expensive. I wouldn't have bothered for just the 2 plants i received. I should have been told when the order was confirmed that it wasn't available.

I have inspected the remaining 52 pots of Lollipop plants in my nursery that yours was chosen from and found NO bugs, so, I want to see them. Remember the refund will only be issued once ALL the plants that your received, along with ALL the bugs are in my hands. This could have all been eliminated if you had only had the courtesy to contact me first, but no, you wanted to show all your laundry to the world.

I received my first order from Pepper's Greenhouse a week ago. I ordered a sweetheart Hoya and a variegated wax heart hoya. I was impressed with the size of the plants, they also arrived in good conditions. I will use them again.

I recently ordered 3 Queen's Wreath plants from this company along with several other plants. ( it is hard to only order what you are looking for when so many great plants are available). I received large well packaged healthy plants . This is a great place to purchase hard to find tropical and subtropical plants.

I received my first order from Pepper's a couple weeks ago. I was extremely impressed.

I ordered 4 tropicals (Medinilla myriantha, Impatiens velvetea, Petraeovitex bambusitrum and Camptosema grandiflora), which were sent across the country in January. All look great; the Medinilla arrived in bud with 3 spikes and lots of new growth. I look forward to it blooming. It was $6.95 in a 4 inch pot.

I will recommend Pepper's enthusiastically to others.

Great company to deal with no problem ever. This is my second order. This time I received the Dwarf Barbados Cherry ! Its a nice plant. Great size. Real healthy. And best of all a great price ! That always helps.

I recently ordered two Allamanda Cathartica "Hendersonii" plant's from Pepper's Greenhouse. The plants arrived in great shape and were nice and healthy. I immediately repotted them and since then they have doubled in size. This is my first mail order with this company and I did so after checking the comments left by other members of Davesgarden. I am absolutely pleased with the entire experience (cost, shipping and customer service). Thanks Fred for outstanding service.

Ordered from them this spring and was happy. A couple of the plants were a bit small but for the price, a very nice value. I will order from them again.
