I have placed several orders with Santa Rosa Gardens over the past year or so when I found them at Dave's Garden. I look forward to receiving their emails. I recently ordered two Maple leaf Hibiscus from them. I think due to them being closeouts for the season I received four. Yay! They are all thriving in my garage right now waiting for spring planting. Santa Rosa ships quickly and I mean within a couple to few days, the plants arrive in great condition. Santa Rosa has become my favorite mail order vendor. Very healthy and good quality plants.

I just placed my second, and much larger order, with this company. My last order, back in the fall, was sent very quickly, the plants were large and VERY healthy!! Everything is still growing well for me. My next order will come in April and I know I will be receiving beautiful, healthy plants once again! The communication with the company is superb, they offer fantastic deals - join their mailing list! Their website if extremely well built, easy to find and locate just what you're looking for, and the flowers are just as pretty when you get them as they are on their website pics! Thanks so much! I highly recommend this company if you're looking for some great plants!!

Excellent, excellent experience. I ordered 6 Japanese Silver grass and 9 Panicum Northwind. The Japanese Silver grass specimens were much larger than I expected, and both types had extensive healthy roots. I ordered during the absolute hottest months of the summer but they included cold packs and the plants were all beautiful upon arrival and are actively growing now. I've ordered alot of plants through the mail in the past and have given up on all but a few companies for a variety of reasons. However, I plan to create a large ornamental grass garden at our new property, and this company will be hearing from me again and again next year once we move.

I've ordered many plants over the years now from Santa Rosa Gardens. A few of the plants from a 2009 order never thrived, but I just recently (January 2011) got around to asking if they could be replaced or substituted at this late date. The response was absolutely, no problem, we will ship a new batch in the spring. So not only do they have remarkable customer service, despite the rare failure of these few plants the quality of their plant stock is tremendous.

Also, the grasses from my original comment? So huge and beautiful now I will be able to split them next spring!

I have been purchasing plants and supplies, both on sale and not on sale for a very long time. There has never been any problem s that can't be resolved. All transactions have always been dealt with by courteous individuals and never dropped or forgotten. Everyone that I have ever spoken to was unbelievably helpful and friendly. Orders are shipped out so quickly that it sometimes seems impossible. Everything is carefully packed and they all arrive safely despite the weather. All plants have been healthy and grew quickly. Even in the rare situation that a plant I have ordered is no longer available there has always been ways to remedy the situation. In a nutshell, this is a company that aims to please, and they do.

I ordered some sheep shears from this company about 5 years ago. As a result, they kept sending me e-mails about their plants. I finally decided to give them a try and ordered 16 verbena and some bulbs. The plants arrived nicely packed & vibrant. I was impressed and placed another order within a week. A week after planting the verbena, we had a searing heat wave. 4 of the verbena were negatively impacted and are not doing so well.

I e-mailed them to see what they recommended. They offered to replace the 4, even though I did not ask for that.

The second order I received, planted, and are all doing great.

This is an excellent company in my opinion and I will continue doing business with them.

I am very happy with the orders I have received from Santa Rosa Gardens. I first heard about them last year on a gardening forum, and I got in on their late summer sale. I admit that I was hesitant to order plants from a company based in Florida, since I live in zone 4 in upstate NY. The prices were great, so I ordered several grasses and carexes that I hadn't tried before, plus a few perennial plants. I ordered several things this week in this year's similar sale. In both shipments, the plants were a nice size and in great shape. Last year's plants did fine here, despite moving several zones north. (Of course I only ordered plants rated for z4 and z5.) And no plastic peanuts were harmed in the wrapping of their plants. I also appreciate that their policy is not to ship late in the week, so that plants don't languish in a truck or warehouse somewhere over the weekend.

I just received my first order from SRG, 5 types of plants to try them out. It won't be my last. The plants were so inexpensive I hadn't expected much more than rooted cuttings. What I got were well rooted plants. They are now potted up and actively growing. The packaging did a very good job of protecting the foliage of each plant. I like buying from Florida nurseries since plants started in our humid, hot climates seem to survive better than the same varieties started in more arid western climates. I'll be placing a bigger order with them for spring.

I had said I would provide follow-up on the blossom color later when the plants came into bloom. I am writing to let you know that now that summer has advanced and my plants have grown, that all of the Campanula Carpatica which I was in dispute about with your company have turned out to be the CORRECT BLUE plants. I originally ordered 4 and when I complained that you sent WHITE instead of BLUE, your company kindly sent a replacement order of another 4.
I had included a photo of a WHITE blossom on the bud stem of one of the original plants when they arrived.. This was not a shrivelled bud, but an actual blossom. However, I think that what happened is that the blossom opened during pack-and-ship and stayed pale white. I came to this realization during the summer, after a rabbit chewed off a stem with buds but didn't eat it. I took the stem inside and it went on to bloom but the blooms were very pale, almost white.
So, your company was CORRECT in both the original order and the replacement order, and all plants bore BLUE flowers when they bloomed outdoors in the sun. I am grateful for the way you stood behind your product and feel somewhat ashamed to have complained, when there was actually no mistake in the order.
Thank you,

My experiences with Santa Rosa Gardens rates among my top experiences with any mail-order nursery. I received over 100 plants within 1 week of ordering, all very nicely and professionally packed, plants were very healthy and received in good shape with no wilting, despite 100+ temps outside. Prices were far better than anyone else on the web. I even had a little trouble with the checkout and was well compensated for this. So, from customer service, ordering, plant size, to delivery, I am extremely pleased with this company and would highly recommend them. A++ Thanks Santa Rosa! I'll be back!

I started gardening three years ago and bought my first perennial grasses from Santa Rosa. They arrived beautifully packaged with precise instructions on handling them and in great condition. The first year, they outperformed identical plants I had purchased from a local nursery. Every year I have added more grasses as well as some tropicals, purchasing from them nearly exclusively. I lost about 30% of my purple fountain grass this past winter and sent them an email asking if they would regrow. They unexpectedly sent me 7 new plants, because they replace any plants that do not survive their first year. I was so impressed by this, since they certainly had nothing to do with the cold winter. They always answer my emails promptly and go the extra mile in customer service.
No matter where I may live in the future, I will continue to do business with them. They are fantastic folks to deal with.

In the spring of 2009 I ordered about 80 Karley Rose grasses from SRG, along with some Blue Knight butterfly bushes and some black-eyed Susans. The grasses and butterfly bushes were purchased to fill a large planter my husband had built to help hide a container building. They did well last summer but this year the grasses have at least doubled in size and put out large, beautiful pink plumes. They are quite simply--glorious. The Karley Rose has quickly become my favorite landscaping plant. I will be ordering more from SRG. They are wonderful to deal with and answer all emails quickly. I was VERY pleasantly surprised. Plants were expertly boxed. Only a very tiny amount of soil escaped on their long journey from Florida to NY. My little girl and I were unwrapping just like getting gifts at Christmas! There was only one plant that looked a little worse for wear but I think it will perk up. Healthy plants with nice strong root systems. Might even have to hit that sale list again....

Hello there, I am a first year perennial grower. I normally only plant vegetables, but since my Mother's yard was in sever need of a remodeling I figured why not. I chose Santa Rosa Gardens because they had some of the best prices, a high customer review rating, and they offered all the odd and ends of grasses I can't find too easily here in our Local Nurseries.

The size of the plants was not a problem, the plants came generally from about 7"-13" tall and I will say that the 4" pots are above their smaller counterparts. I ordered two Astilbe’s in the 2" and they didn't make it. I asked if this was normal with company and they gave me some tips on how to help them revive, very good ones might I add, but the plants didn't make it. I also noticed two of grasses weren't making it either. I e-mailed them again and they shipped me out replacements for both of these plants. The replacements we're large beautiful and this time instead of just watering the Astilbe’s I placed them in a container full of water . It worked, they're doing very well now and look great in the garden.

As for the rest of my plants they are doing much better than what I would've ever hoped. Our front yard get's 8+ hours of direct sunlight, and the heat. With this environment many of our new plants tend to have a die off period before they get back on their feet and start growing. I expect this and usually it take our plants 2 weeks+ to start growing again. The grasses I received seriously began to grow back within their first week and by the 2 week most of the harm was done with. I ordered these plants back in May and looking out into my Mom's new garden their growth is quite noticeable. Many are even blooming!
It may sound a bit too good to be true, but I'm sure this is why they're ranked so high in customer service. Just be sure to be careful with their 2" inch pots since their soil is so much more dry than the 4”.

Sure enough I recieved my latest order today via Fed Ex and this time the plants are healthy large and moist. I've said it once but I'll say it again, they really do have great customer service and the plants themselves are wonderful.

Just got my big box of 21 plants from their sale. It was like opening a X-mas gift. Plants were very good sized for the price, very well wrapped, and arrived in great shape. Two minor concerns, there were some whitefly larvae on the bottom of the lower leaves of a veronica, but I removed the lowest leaves, and I don't consider it a big deal. An Agastache rugosa "Tutti Frutti" has oddly mottled leaves (dark green/lighter green irregular patterns) which look like a virus, fairly subtle but definitely something I will watch. Maybe they should check their stock and see if other plants of this cv are showing similar symptoms. The plant is robust, though, and I will plant it out and see what it does in the hope that maybe it is just a reaction to shipping stress or some other condition that will go away when it is in the ground. The ornamental sedges and grasses are nice starts, actually the Arundo donax "Peppermint" is ready to bust out of its pot. And I don't think I could find butterfly bush starts for cheaper, they are nicely branched, one with flower buds, not huge but very well grown and ready to go. I'll definitely order from them again.

I got their special 18 plants for 19.99, their choice, and got two each of 9 varieties, all in just as good shape as their usual stuff. Whatever I wasn't especially fond of became gifts for a new to gardening friend to try their skills on, and the rest will add more color to my gardens. It was an incredible deal. Super company, great prices, can't go wrong.
