What would I do without Gardeners Supply? They have a wide range of items designed to make gardening easier--plant supports are outstanding, and if you haven't tried their Hydro mats for potted plants --you're missing out! Their customer service is outstanding. I order from them several times a year, and it's always a positive experience.

I ordered through the internet a couple weeks before Christmas. My order arrived in a couple of days (ok I live the next state over - but still it was Christmas time). Everything was packaged well and looked just like the catalogue. Their web site is easy to navigate, and they include directions to their main store and outlet store (definitely worth a visit if you are in Vermont)

Always happy with the quality from Gardener's Supply. I feel like a kid in a candy store whenever I get their catalog. There's always so much I want to buy.

I purchased 2 of their APS Seed Starter kits, and have had great results. The idea of having a self-watering starter kit made me feel a whole lot better about trying to grow from seed. My tomatoes and peppers that I started in the APS look great.

Bought some 'potato bins' from them three years ago. I guess they (and I!) didn't know that you should NOT bury the leaves while they are growing. I proceeded to monitor growth and added straw and soil up to almost 3 feet high in the bins, always leaving the last few leaves uncovered. In the fall, I expected to see a lot of potatoes, but found only TWO marble sized spuds in the 6 bins. Even though I thought that I may have done something wrong with fertilizer or soil mixtures. Tried them a second year, and got only TWO small potatoes. After that, I figured that something was wrong with their instructions. I contacted them to ask about the problem, and was told that many others experienced the same difficulty. I was given a full refund even after two years. Since then, I have cut down some of the 3 foot all bins into one foot tall rings, and have sucessfully grown potatoes last year, WITHOUT burying any leaves.

There was also an instance of buying their very expensive, custom made plant grow flourescent lamps (4 foot size). Once they were installed in my light fixtures they would burn out in less than 3 days. This happened to six different lamps. I called them about the problem and was told that no other complaints were given, however they would refund my total cost. Later on, I suspect that because all of my fixtures have electronic starters, and NOT the small plug in type starters usually found on these fixtures it probably burned out the start 'filements' inside the bulbs. Since then, I don't see the potato bins or lamps being sold through their catalogs anymore. They DO listen to their buying public and take to heart any problems that we might have with their products. All problems are quickly resolved.

I purchased a weeding hoe from Gardeners Supply some years ago, paid a good price for it. It's my favorite tool. Keeps an edge like no other hoe I've ever owned, is lightweight but powerful. I also purchased a grub hoe from them at the same time,,,a back killer, but a workhorse of a tool... I find their tools to be of excellent quality, and made for serious gardeners.

If you are like me and can't seem to find that special tool or some other item that your grandmother might have had in her garden, then this is the place to find it. With Lowes and Home Deport driving out all the smaller nurseries and specialty hardware stores you just can't find many items for the serious gardener except in catalogs, at least not here in Houston anymore. Shipping has always been prompt and in 5 orders over the last two seasons they have not gotten one thing wrong yet.

The items in the catalog are consistently of high quality and come with clear instructions. Shipping is very fast and products are well packaged. Their customer service is unusually friendly, helpful, and fast. I also like the fact that, by and large, the catalog contains supplies for gardener and is not loaded up with lots of junky ornamental stuff. Their pricing runs from competitive to a bit high. My only reservation is that I have found a few products can be purchased less expensively from other catalogs. Overall, I am a very satisfied customer and this is one of the most reliable catalog gardening companies I have found.

I've spent more money on gardening at this place than anywhere else! They have the greatest gardening supplies. I often buy the sale items. I buy both on-line and from the catalog, mostly on-line these days. If I've had a problem, Customer Service has always come through to my satisfaction. Gardener's Supply Company is the best.

I love Garden Supply Company. About 6 weeks ago I had to cut down the tree growing at the edge of my patio. No big deal, but it was my 'privacy screen', as my next-door neighbors' kitchen window looks right out on the patio, and the fence is only 6' tall. For some reason my house is situated on the side of its lot, not in the center, so I have practically no side yard on one side and a big one on the other. I searched EVERYWHERE for a 10'-high trellis as a quick privacy fix (I'll be planting a new tree this fall). Then I found GSC. I ordered two of the Bamboo Lattices, Insecticidal Soap, garden-twine-in-a-can (guaranteed not to snarl!), 4 Bamboo Teepees, and 2 strawberry bins that I'm saving for next season. GSC sent me email updates regularly until everything had shipped. I think the entire order arrived in about 5 days. I was quite happy about this, but when I saw the box that held both Bamboo Lattices I had grave doubts - it seemed way too small to hold both of those! Was I ever wrong. They're riveted together accordion-style, and when closed take up very little space, but you can open them up to as high as 11'-12'! I decided on 31" wide, and I trussed them to my existing fence with the new garden twine which truly is the best I've found anywhere (I ordered 2 more cans). When the climbers I planted really get going, these trellises will provide a totally perfect, 10'-high privacy screen. Last week I ordered 2 more, and of course they've already arrived. Just a quick word about the Bamboo Teepees: they're fantastic and take maybe 3 minutes to assemble & install. My cucumbers out in the garden proper are happily inching their way up one. On the patio in two whiskey barrels I have 3 tomatoes planted (in each one) along with oregano, basil, nasturtiums, sage and parsley, and the tomatoes are loving the teepees. Another one is supporting a Charentais melon. And they look cool, too!

I am a relatively new gardener with much enthusiasm. I have ordered many things from this company with great success. Their best deals are at end of season and in mid winter when they are trying to clear out last summers merchandise. I've gotten some great deals and the quality of the products has always been superior. If you don't mind storing things for a few months, this is the way to get some great products at a reduced price. The service and customer service people are knowledgeable and friendly. I definitely recommend them now and in the future.

Last spring, I ordered from Gardener's Supply as I had done many times in the past, but was disappointed with the product - not their fault, it just didn't do what I expected. In the fall I put it away after it had spent the whole summer in the garden. Then I remembered their guarantee and sent it back to them. They refunded it, no questions asked. Also, I once ordered from them and a few days later received a catalog offering5% off everything. My order had already gone through. I wrote them a letter whining about my misfortune. They sent me a refund for the difference, although they did not have to do it. The person taking phone orders has always been friendly and knowledgeable. I now feel totally confident to order from them.

GSC sells those wonderful Accelerated Propagation Systems (APS) that utilize capillary matting. The APS makes germination much easier and greatly improved. I've used mine over and over for years now. Also something new: GSC is now marketing a home study `Master Gardener' type of course series for the University of Guelph (Ontario, Canada). I've already taken the courses and they are extremely beneficial. They provide consistent information with continuity from step to step which isn't always easy to obtain in the field of horticulture. Most of us can't just drop everything and move to a college campus to get this kind of training. With U of Guelph you don't have to, and you still get the same high caliber classes and assistance that on-campus students have.

Regarding Gardener's Supply Company, I have also been in touch with them via E-mail and they are very definitely most helpful! I requested any information, etc. they had on indoor gardening as that is the only type of gardening I can do, (I live in a second floor apartment). The response I got was both prompt and very much appreciated.

The Gardener's Supply people are great folks. I ordered a humongous light fixture from them and UPS apparently dropped it in shipping, slightly denting inwards one end so I couldn't install the bulbs. GS took it back without a peep. I have placed at least five orders for various things over the past 2-3 years and been very pleased. Their order takers all seem to be gardeners. Also, they credited my charge account twice for the return, (due to a disk crash, as it turned out), and when I called to let them know, they said thanks, and a few days later a freebie thank you package of maple syrup from one of their employee's sub-businesses showed up.
