the best company i ever dealt with. they r true to their lifetime warranty, i ordered 2 orders of mixed magic roses, it contained 10 plants, 2 of them broke their heads of on the way, I e-mailed them informing them and asking the procedure and the next thing i know my plants were on the way again after just 4 days without asking me for any explanation. I was so impressed that i placed 2 more orders with them. I understand that sometimes delays can happen in the busiest seasons but their plants are really nice, their warrenty is better than any local or online nursery and that gives me a lots of peace of mind and by the way all the plants i received from them are looking and growing very nicely within 20 days they r showing very good signs of growth. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND EVERYONE WHO BUYS ONLINE PLANTS SHOULD BUY FROM Spinghill Nursery,

Online order totaled $63.64. However charge came thru for $129.81. Contacted them and they stated coupon/sales prices/shipping couldn't be used in one offer. blah blah blah

Okay why did it tally up to $63.64 as I was adding things if that wasn't what I would get it for. Very deceiving. Cancelled order. Hopefully the charge will be reversed as they stated. I will post again if that turns out to be a problem.

Spring Hill is the BEST! The quality of these plants are above and beyond what I was expecting through mail order, they are much better quality then the ones from Home Depot, Lowes, and Bachmans. They are big and green and lush for being young plants. They are very healthy. They were shipped in a large box with a plastic air pillows on top and each plant individually boxed and labeled in boxes that hold them in securely and safely so would not squish or crush. The packing must cost them a lot because they are shipped in individual quality tall boxes that have safety tabs to keep them in place, and the reason the boxes are tall is because of the generous size of the plants they sent.
The plants were healthier then any plants I have bought anywhere. They are green and fresh. The leaves were slightly wet as was the boxes they came in were slightly damp so that they would stay fresh in transit. This tells me they do take care of the items while they in transit of being shipped. And not that it took long because my order was here in less then a week.
I have recommended Spring Hill to my friends and to my neighbor and I will with my other neighbors as soon as I see them out this season and I am sure they will take notice of the transformation of my yard once it starts blooming because I bought many plants. I recommend Spring Hill to anyone who is going to order online plants to at least try even a small amount of plants and they will see how nice they are. And the selection is terrific. And the prices are wonderful, especially with the $25 off coupon. This is the best place I'v found so far and I have shopped at many of the popular online nurseries and this is the best! Of course I have just ordered from other places where my plants have not arrived yet and hopefully they are very nice too, but I am just so happy with the ones I recieved from Spring Hill, they came fast and so very fresh, and low priced. I have taken photos of how nice they are and will update you with the my website once I figure out how to put photo's on it so you can see for yourself how very nice these are.

I am not just trying to plug for this company, I am just a very happy customer. After reading reviews of other experiences from many different online nurseries it is scarry on what to expect and what conditon the plants will be in. I had ordered two live plants and some bulbs last year also from Spring Hill and was happy with that order. And now this year I have ordered dozens of live plants from them which are the freshest, largest and nicest looking plants I have ever recieved, either through the mail or the local nurseries. I just wanted to share this with anyone who is planning on buying from an online nursery to let them know this place has wonderful fresh plants, and wonderful prices and you can even get a coupon (and use it with the sales), and it arrived in one week.
I also want to add that the plants I bought were: 16 Brilliant Red Hollyhocks, 12 Dwarf Gaillardia, and 2 Royal Ferns.

I have ordered from four different online nurseries this year. Spring Hill is the first to send my plants and the other nurseries might be (hopefully) will be good also. But this purchase has been above and beyond excellent. I very highly recommend them.

And I want to add that when UPS delivered my plants he set the box of plants in front of my house sideways. (My plants were packed so good that even if he threw the package in my yard, upside down they still would have been safe). Its nice that Spring Hill packs their plants with consideration and care. So if anyone has had problems with orders of plants in bad condition (from any mail order nursery) it might be due to the handling from the package carriers. I can see that Spring Hill has taken precautions with orders and sends them securely packed, sprayed, spritzed and dampened for the transit so they will arrive in great condition. And it is nice to see a company putting that extra effort into making sure there plants arrive in good conditon.
And if Spring Hill reads this I want to say Thank You. Your plants and service are absolutely wonderful! On a scale of 1 thru 10, you are a 10!

I ordered 3 Spring Hill's Red Freedom Roses on 01/24/11. I received the plants in great condition and as it was still cold outside, I decided to follow the instructions and put them in a pot. I didn't want to plant them as March, and April is a terrible time as our native Oaks drop pollen and leaves. This year was especially bad. I watered according to the instructions. I have the pot in my enclosed front porch along with other potted plants I bring in for the Winter. The Roses' leaves died so I cut some of the stem and can't see any green. I'm afraid to keep cutting as I don't know if they are dead or alive. When I sent a similar message to Spring Hill on 04/24/11, I received a message on 04/26/11 indicating a replacement shipment had been made. As I don't know if it was my problem or the plants just didn't make it, if they arrive in as good condition as they did before and they die, apparently I'm doing something wrong. Nonetheless, Spring Hill has impressed me as a company that backs its products. I'll certainly use them in the future!

I have just ordered two Snow Fountains Weeping Cherry Trees and a Golden Chain Tree from this site. What got me to actually buy was their promotion of free shipping and handling this weekend only and how cheap the snow fountain weeping cherry trees were. I am a big fan of weeping trees, and this site had them on sale for 13.75. I was so excited i actually found this tree for cheap! Now waiting for the trees to get here. My estimated arrival date is 4/23. I'm very happy i got a conformation email really quick and they give you an estimated arrival date. That is a big thumbs up for me so far! :)

I have been a customer for decades with this company. I have never had a problem with their customer service or their replacement policy. There are still many plants in my garden that are over ten years old that I purchased from them, and they are still looking fantastic. The shipping of the plants is always at the proper time for my area and any replacements are sent the same way.

There have been some cases where the plants did not survive the shipping, usually becuase of the shipping company as many times the boxes had dents in them. The other cases were usually due to a hard winter and the plants did not have time to build up a root system to survive.

In every case Spring Hill has either replaced my plants the next spring (or fall depending on the plant) or given a full refund for the plants.

I'm afraid to see the shape my plants will arrive in after seeing all these negative comments. Last summer, through a mail offerring, ordered two of their new, mildew-resistant phlox collections. The sets were to include a beautiful orangs, white, red, blue, purple and pink. I planned out my gardens in anticipation of them. I don't know if these were suppose to be for fall planting or not. As it stands I haven't received ANYTHING, nor did Springhill answer my e-mails. I guess that it how it is-I'm not happy.

Yesterday Donna d-mailed me about giving replacement plants. Today, six days, yes, SIX DAYS, after my original complaint, I received two VERY-WELL rooted, HEALTHY, GREEN plants that had been packaged to both protect the plants AND keep the roots MOIST. Thank you Donna! When the plants, slated for Sept delivery, arrive in the same exemplary as the two I've just received, I will be most happy to upgrade this post to positive.

I don't want a replacement since I've had to go through that already with your subsidiaries several times and the plants themselves are not worth the price since they are too sickly, small, and spindly to be of use and I don't want to be listed as a high return customer from your other catalogs. I kept checking back every day to check the status but every day it still had not shipped and everyday the delivery estimate was farther out. I called about a week after my initial order. I was told the plants were backordered until the 24th and they couldn't guarantee when they would ship out. I called the 24th and they told me they were backordered until the 27th and again, they couldn't guarantee when they would ship out. I called again the 29th and was told they were never backordered but no one could tell me why they hadn't shipped. The customer service rep put me on hold and talked to her supervisor, who said she would call the warehouse right away and ask them to put a rush on my order but again, couldn't guarantee when they would ship out. I'm so frustrated right now. I live in Texas and it's already spring here. I wanted my plants in the ground before spring arrived. The next call I make to Spring Hill will be to cancel my order. I just received my first order from this company. I kept it small, only ordered three plants to try them out. The daylily looks great with nice big healthy roots and the same with the white feather hosta. However, and the reason for the neutral rating, the burgundy lace fern I ordered arrived completely mangled. I understand what a three inch pot is and was not surprised by the size of the plant, just unhappy with every frond being broken and hanging or laying in the pot. I called customer service and they basically told me it's only the roots that matter and that it would come back just fine. I'll wait and if it does then I'll change my rating to positive, but really for the price paid I don't feel like this plant was worth it at all. Hopefully it will bounce back because this was the plant I was so excited about this year.

I ordered three "shade grab bags" to plant a bed under a Bradford Pear. Only 6 of the plants were suitable for shade. The 6 other plants and 9 bulbs were all for full sun to partial shade. I understand the concept of a grab bag, but I also understand what "shade" means. I called and complained and they are sending new plants, but the customer service representative I talked to said there was no way he could pass along my feedback. That's why I'm doing it here. I gave the plants to my neighbor and hopefully I will be able to use the ones that Springhill is re-sending.

The shipping date for the new order kept getting pushed back so I called and they expedited it and it arrived yesterday. It was the EXACT same thing. I called and actually got a helpful person on the phone and she asked around, and apparently Springhill will include plants for sun in the shade grab bags as long as the plant can tolerate partial shade. This time they are sending a fern grab bag and an astilbe grab bag, and a Brise d’Anjou Polemonium (which is on backorder). We shall see.

In mid April of this year (2010), I placed a large order with Spring Hill Nursery for a variety of plants for spring planting. My credit card was immediately charged, however I received no shipment notification. After multiple follow ups and repeated requests for updates, I kept being told my order was going to ship the following week for 2 weeks running, after week 3, I asked again why there was such a delay and I was finally informed that a few of my items were back ordered. Not once was I informed via email or phone call that 1 or 2 items (in this case a clematis and a hydrangea) were holding up the rest of my items from shipping. If I had not asked or followed up, I have no idea when my items would have shipped, if at all. I reiterated, again, that I had items in my order that needed to get in the ground ASAP because the weather in Georgia was already in the 80's, headed into the 90's. I first requested that my order be shipping incomplete and the customer service agent told me I'd get charged extra for that, even though the delay was their inventory management issue and not mine. I finally just told them to cancel the items that were back ordered. They said they'd put a "rush order" on my remaining items and they still didn't ship till the following week.

When the items arrived, I had a mixed review of the products. My roses have done quite well and the Spiderswort (tradescantia) root plantings took off like weeds, however the pictures on the site of the Spiderswort were misleading and didn't truly show what the full plant looked like. If I'd known what the full plant looked like, I wouldn't have purchased them. I have actually ended up digging up the plants at the end of the summer and will be replacing them with other perennials and looking for new homes for the Spiderswort. I also planted 3 ginger orchid roots and 2 of 3 came up, but were very weak plants (however, to be fair, I believe that is due to where I planted them and not Spring Hill's fault). The summer cheer daffodils I ordered did NOT bloom during the summer. I did not even get a single shoot, let alone a flower. I dug them up this fall when I put in my other spring bulbs and discovered that they had active roots, but their guarantee of "Summer blooming daffodils" was erroneous. They may have gone into the ground too late in the season to bloom in the summer, however that delay was also over a month due to their late shipment of my order.

Finally, it took almost 2 weeks to get a refund on my items that had been back ordered.

I will not be using Spring Hill Nursery again.

I have spent (embarrassingly enough) a *LOT* of money with Spring Hill and have had relatively few issues that required follow up. In our area, we experienced a drought and unusually high temperatures which wreaked havoc on my new garden. Our soil is rock and clay which is not conducive to growth, but things are growing! I haven't experienced the phenomenal growth some people have with a lot of these plants, but I assume that's due to the relatively nutrient poor nature of my soil.

I used a professional nursery slow release 3 month fertilizer and watered as much as I could (no rain = empty rain barrels) and most of the plants came up but even with the care, a bunch died.

After notifying SpringHill via email and phone, I have received new plants (with one oops that I called about and offered to return the mistakenly sent plant and was told to go ahead and keep it) but all in all I have had a pleasant experience with them. I just placed another order this morning. I have to total my orders from them for my taxes next year and fear the total I'll come up with, but local nurseries don't provide the warranty and low cost nor variety. The plants are tiny when they arrive, but that's probably the most viable way to send them.

I ordered the reblooming iris collection and got a group of bulbs with an extra variety due to the fact they had two of their varieties wiped out, so it was obvious to me that they wanted to make things right.

Thanks, Spring Hill!

I would have to agree with the majority of this company's customers - SpringHillNursery needs to be better organized with their stock, and more consistent on shipping. They missed to ship few plants to me, re-scheduled some shipments to much later dates, and their stock could be great, or could be a disaster. I hesitated for a full year to even order again, despite of their reasonable prises and good selection of plants offered, due to all the mishaps.
After many e-mails and few conversations with the customer service reps, I believe they made it right. But it was sure a hassle to get to this point.
I am still hesitant to order more plants from this company.

I ordered about $150 worth of perennials from Spring Hill on 10/7/10. Later that day, my mom called to say that she had just dug up all of her perennials and wanted to give them to me. I clicked on the link in the order confirmation e-mail to check on the order status, and saw that my order was scheduled to ship in approximately 3 weeks (part of it even later than that). I e-mailed Spring Hill, in accordance with the cancellation policy listed on their site, and stated clearly that I wished to cancel the order and would like the full purchase amount credited back to my card (if it had even been charged yet).

The next day, I received an e-mail from "Sonia" in customer service, saying that she had applied "rush shipping" to my order and had taken $25 off the total "to save the order". Immediately, I e-mailed again to say that I had not asked for rush shipping or a discount; rather, that I had clearly asked to cancel the order. I stated again that I did not want the plants, that I was canceling the order, and that I expected the full purchase price credited to my card.

The following day, I received an e-mail confirming that my order had shipped. I again responded immediately by e-mail to say that I didn't know how to be any clearer...I wanted to cancel the order. I quoted the text of my first two e-mails, which had been crystal clear, and reiterated (in bold, large, red type) that I did not want the plants, I wanted to cancel.

The plants arrived and sat in the box on our front porch for a few days while we were out of town. This morning, I called Spring Hill to escalate my complaint, and was told by the customer service rep that they had expedited and discounted my order because I had called and asked them to do so. When I emphatically told the rep that I had NEVER called Spring Hill but had e-mailed my cancellation three times, she kept insisting to me that their "call log" proved that I had called them. She argued with me at length that the call log can't be wrong. When I asked to speak with Sonia's supervisor (remember, Sonia was the customer service rep who e-mailed me to say that she was rushing and discounting my order), the rep said that they have four call centers and there is no way to know who Sonia was. I asked to speak with ANY supervisor, but the rep would not allow me to talk with anyone else. She agreed to credit the full purchase price (I'm waiting to see if that actually happens) and kept repeating, "I'm giving you back your money. It's taken care of."

When I expressed concern that there must be a training issue or an employee integrity problem because Sonia had clearly lied about receiving a call from me, the rep just kept repeating, "You're getting your money back."

It's very clear to me what Spring Hill did. They're winding down operations for the season (I had ordered in response to an end-of-season clearance offer), and the customer service rep (who most likely is compensated in part on "saving" orders) figured that if she rushed my order through I'd just go ahead and pay for it. This much I know for sure...I did NOT call them, ever, until this morning. I did, however, e-mail them my cancellation in accordance with their own policy.

I wish I had seen this site before I ordered from Spring Hill. I will never again make the mistake of ordering from them. I'm not holding my breath that the purchase price will be credited as promised...but I'm not opposed to making a big legal fuss if it's not.

The last 4 plants I purchased from Spring Hill were back ordered, double back ordered & substituted. And I'm a little confused about the back order on 3 of the plants. I ordered the plants in July for fall planting. At the end of September they were on back order. I don't know how much of an advance notice Spring Hill needs to have the products on hand. But I do wish I knew who they order the back orders from. I could maybe just cut out the middle-man.

i am giving this company a neutral rating because though the plants i received are healthy and the person i talked put a lot of effort into finding a yellow variety for me trying hard to make me satisfied, i am not pleased of their slow response in emails (i got responses on my emails about a week after i called), selling more than what they can supply (they still have not pull down the item from their website last time i checked) substituting a plant without getting my pre-approval and selling a plant is classified as invasive in a state without more information on how to handle the plant. i hope it is not always going to be like this.

I placed my order with Spring Hill after receiving their mailings offering wonderful prices and no payment until you receive your plants. I didn't think I had anything to lose. I sent the order form back the middle of July. I ordered a daylily collection, an iris collection, 2 lilacs & a poppy collection. My order was processed on August 2, but no iris collection? I never received an email explaining this so I emailed them. The first email I got was just another order confirmation so I emailed again. This time I did get a response stating that the iris collection was no longer available. OK fine.... The shipping dates then changed on my order 3 more times and still today (Sept 16th) I have not received my order. I have scheduled vacation around this order and have to cancel and reschedule 3 times now. I can't do it anymore. I emailed customer service yesterday and told them to cancel my order. I am really disappointed with this company. This example, and the examples from others shows how disorganized they are and really unaware of their inventory. I do not want to do business with them and wish I would have read these posts first.

I truly recommend SpringHill for: 1) better price (you laways get $25 off when ordering $50 or more), 2) healthy plant (I ordered more than 40 plants this spring, all but one have been doing great, with nice blooms). 3) Delivery time was reasonable but sometime could be better (my spring order was delivered within 10 days, the replacement one plant was ok). 4) The website is more user friendly and do give you update on your order daily. 2 out of the 3 customer reps are very friendly and helpfull. 5) The packing is very professional and really protect plants very well.

Plus lots of sale items which were part of my spring order. Very healthy.

The only thing I wish they could do better is to give more accurate estimate of delivery time so people can be prepared. eg, I had to be out of town for 2 weeks after my order so called them to inquire about the delivery time. But the customer rep told me they can not tell me when plants will be shipped, nor can they delay the shipment time. I was luck to receive them prior to my trip. But imagine they had to sit outside and in a box for two weeks. I do beliver Springhill can do better than this as other web order places do. To be competitive, they need to improve on this aspect.

On September 16th, 2010, Vivian_2010 added the following:

I forgot that I did have two bare roots that somehow did not come out. Called SpringHill and they will be shipped to me next spring.

Also I read other comments and do agree that they need to do better with their estimate of delivery time and to accomodate people's schedule (away from home, etc). Think of it, it is for SpringHill's benefit if they do this. Otherwise if my order all die siting outside in a box while I am away for 2 weeks, SpringHill would have to replace all of them. It will not be cost effective. Again it should be really easy to keep track of the inventory and decide on the delivery schedule. Not sure why SpringHill can not manage this aspect as good as other places.

But Overall I am happy and will order from them again, just need to have patience.

Hello, in May of 2009, I ordered 2 Apricot Princess Roses and some other plants. This year I was going to order a couple more Apricot Princess Roses to add to my collection of roses ; but Springhill sent me some Early Bird specials including Sugar Plum Mini Roses. I wanted them badly because they ran out in 2009. and I hope to order them, if available in 2010. They became available in 2010 after I already ordered the Apricot Princess Roses. Well I made a choice to cancel the Apricot Princess Roses and order the Sugar Plum roses instead. Later in the spring, the leaves on the Apricot Roses turned yellow with black spots, turned brown became crinkly and the branches started turning brown; When the roses tried to bloom, instead of opening up with beautiful roses, the roses would open crinkly and die right away. I sent Springhill this letter on June 4th and they wrote back on June 6th that there are so many pests/diseases and other situations that are specific to certain areas and then apologized for the inconvenience. A reship has been issued and I should receive my item bt the end of September. I checked their site to make sure my new shipment was there and it was cancelled. On June20th I sent an email wanting an explanation and Amanda wrote Thank you for your email. I apologize for the inconvenience. I have reviewed your account and see that your reship order for the Apricot Princess Roses has been cancelled as a replacement certificate had been issued for this item in the amount of 17.18 which was used on your order number for the Sugar Plum Mini Rose. Therefore, we are unable to issue a reship for the Apricot Princess Rose. I wrote them back, let me understand, this year when I placed an order for additional Apricot Roses, I cancelled the Apricot Roses (in which I already had in my garden from last year and they died this year), and ordered Sugar Plum Mini Roses (in which I didn't have in my garden), that I can't get a reship from a previous rose item when my original Apricot Princess Rose was ordered in May of last year. The order number for when I originally ordered the Apricot Rose and the order number for the Sugar Plum Mini Rose I ordered this year is two different orders. My Apricot Princess Rose should be replaced because it died a year ago and for Amanda to tell me I can't get a replacement is wrong, now the only way now that I will have Apricot Princess Roses is to buy them. Springhill should honor their guarantee. This is 7-17-2010 and still no response.

I had plants to be replaced this spring. All but about 4 things came in on time. I knew I was going to be gone when it would be delivered if it was more than 3 weeks, so I called the company rep and told her that I needed to cancel anything after that time. She said she did. I left on over month long vacation. I got back and called to order my plants to be sent to me as I was home for the rest of the time. They said they had shipped it and would not ship it again. I did find out that a neighbor of mine saw a box and the plants were all dead and then she has been on a long trip abroad till now to give me that information. They also said none of the replacements were guaranteed at all. I have probably spent at least $1000 with this company that says plants are guaranteed FOR LIFE ............but then they say it is a new company and they don't honor the guaranteed plants from before 2000........well if they have the same name....use the advertisement that they have been in business for over 40 years etc so they use the time to make them seem like a strong company but then they don't accept the responsibility of the other owner. I feel like it is very unethical. I hope they can change my opinion of them. I absolutely love their Prim Roses and hate to think I have to buy them somewhere else. We will see. Hi, I recently placed an order with spring hill nursery and I have not been satisfied with some of the plants, or the customer service. This was my first time ordering from this company but I used the coupon I received on the catalog:Buy $50.00 worth of plants for $25.00. I placed my order and was most excited about the green envy coneflower. I paid the most for that flower, and it is the only one that has just up and died. It did not look that good upon reciept, but I planted it anyway, as it said it was drought tolerant etc. and coneflowers are pretty easy to grow. Anyway, to make a long story short, it has died and I have contacted spring hill via email, three times now concerning their lifetime guarantee. I want a replacement for this plant, but they continue to ignore my emails. I have sent a new email, and if something is not resolved concerning this by Tuesday of next week, I intend to cancel the remaining order I have with this company. Should they address my concerns, I will change this rating to positive.

I am back again! After emailing spring hill multiple times and receiving no response, I finally called them and told them the green envy coneflower I had purchased from them had died, and according to their no risk guarantee, I would like a replacement. They agreed to ship me another green envy coneflower, which I planted immediately. It looked healthier than the last. It thrived and did well, but when it finally bloomed imagine my surprise when it looked nothing like the plant advertised on their site, but was in fact just regular purple coneflower. So basically I paid $19.99 + shipping, for a plant I could have just gone around the corner to my local home improvement store and purchased for significantly less. I feel very cheated, and will never do business with this company again.

I had no problems. Since then, I have made a number of orders from them and have been extremely pleased. The live plants that have come from them have been very healthy and arrived within the expected timeframe. Recently, I tried to take advantage of a sale and came upon a glitch when ordering online thru their website (which is the only way I order these days). When I contacted them via e-mail, they were very receptive and proactive, and went out of their way to work with me and gave me a great deal as a result. While I don't expect perfection, I do believe a company should be given a chance to address any issues when they are brought to their attention. I also don't think it's okay to be an abusive customer. I have been EXTREMELY SATISFIED with their excellent customer service and the quality of their products!

Around March 2010, I ordered 6 hydrangeas and 9 roses using the $20 and $25 off coupons. The shipping date kept changing for all three orders, so I stopped checking. Luckily I have a pretty flexible schedule so I wasn't worried about scheduling the planting but it could be a problem for someone with a large order. The hydrangeas came very well packaged and small but healthy (lots of pretty green leaves). I didn't plant them for a week or two, but they were fine. Now, they are doing great and had flowers in May and June. The roses came bare root and also well packaged. Some of them didn't look so good but I planted them as soon as possible (after a couple days) and they started leafing out right away. I've had lots of flowers since late May, and the two that didn't look too good are now starting to flower. I just hope they survive the winter but if they don't I'm only out $8 so I'm not too worried. I'm very happy with my order and the quality of the plants.
