I am a teacher who sits on our schools PTO and basically ran our spring fund raiser. I found touch of nature on line along with about a zillion other similar services. I ordered some brochures for our PTO to look at and hands down they had the most complete package -- Easy to see, easy for small children to sell, inexpensive, and understandable. We thought we would go for it, we had never done something like this and figured we would sell about $2,000. In the end we sold more than $5,500. The shipment was almost perfect (only 3/200 pkgs missing) WOW!!! The bulbs were really top notch, they were bulbs that I would expect to purchase from a local garden center!

As a fund raiser we exceeded our goal by more than half, Bert and Ingrid were great, I would shop there site for gardening supplies, anytime I needed something - school related or not.

This is a great company to work for, the profit was outstanding - USE THEM FOR YOUR NEXT FUND RAISER!!!

Daylilies are big division and healthy. good deal for that discount price. but the hosta plants are 1 eye division , not very impressive, guess that's what I pay for. ($5 for one) and also short of one plant. It says " not all patriot survived the winter" in the invoice. so they deduct the total amount. But they are still selling it in the website. it doesn't look like they are out of stock, huh??

Now that I've planted everything, I could make the following "complaint". I suspect that they sent me a lot MORE than 100 crocuses per pack, and a lot more than 100 Chionodoxa per pack. Accurate counts or not, I felt compelled to plant every last one of them. Come to think of it, there were more than 10 daffodils in my 10-daffodil bag, as well... And now I'm paying for the generosity--I hurt ALL OVER! Perhaps Touch of Nature should include a little packet of Aleve with every order? :-)

This is my second purchase from this company. The bulbs were large and healthy. I am very pleased with the quality, the price and the quick delivery.

This winter I made three purchases from the end-of-season vendors' specials and was very pleased with the products I received. A couple of days after having placed the first order, I decided to order again and they combined the orders for shipping (without my requesting it) which saved me money.

After planting everything I had purchased, I decided to buy more bulbs for forcing, but by the time I got around to it, it was past December 31st, which the site indicated was the cut-off date. I took a chance and sent an email asking if they still had any for sale; which Bert answered quickly and Ingrid sent my order immediately; I had it in a couple of days, and when I opened the package, I found 100 FREE tulip bulbs! Thank you! These people are great! They have always responded very quickly to my emails asking for gardening help too.
On November 12th, 2008, veejay added the following:

I purchased items from last year's vendor sale and everything performed wonderfully. Some of the bulbs I bought were for a narrow strip of ground owned by the city and woefully neglected....nothing but weeds was growing there. For only $25 we had a succession of daffodils, tulips and Dutch Irises which went on for about three months. I couldn't afford to spend a lot of money, but because the vendor's specials are such a spectacular bargain, I was able to buy a lot of bulbs and what was an eyesore became a thing of beauty.

I just bought alliums and was pleased with how large and healthy the bulbs are. Thanks!

Although it was shortshipped (I noticed that others have had this same problem this October), Bert and Ingrid in customer service couldn't have been nicer, and I've been assured that the rest of the order is on the way. Bert promptly answered my emails about planting (I was a bit concerned because of the delay). I'm pleased to rate this as a "Positive" despite the short-shipping, just because the quality and customer service were so good!

I found this company through DG Watchdog--after reading the reviews by so many happy gardeners, I checked out their site, placed an order and also asked for a paper catalog. Although Bert told me the online site had the most current items and deals, I found it extremely useful to also have the paper catalog: there were many varieties in the paper catalog that I could not find online, some of which I had been looking for (for instance, I bought Narcissus St. Keverne from WFF in the past, but the area where they are planted needed some filling in with more, and WFF stopped carrying them a couple years ago--it was great to find them with Touch of Nature in the paper catalog). The customer service was great. I added to my order probably more than once, and they had no problem consolidating orders and sending me everything very well packed and identified, just as the other gardeners have reported. I appreciate that at the bottom of the of the shipping invoice there appears the total number of bulbs shipped (in my case, 245). I am hoping that the bulbs, which look really healthy and great, will be gorgeous in the spring. I've ordered a lot from WFF and Brecks in the past, but have become dissatified with each of those vendors and am hoping that Touch of Nature can become one of the primary places I turn to each year as I feed my bulb addiction.

On December 5th, 2005, shimer added the following:

Since posting my last review, I've taken advantage of specials and end-of-season discounts, adding items several times as I continue planting and think, for example, "gee, wouldn't more chionodoxa or scilla make this spot look even prettier in the spring?". I could not be more delighted with the quality of the bulbs and the friendly, EXTREMELY helpful customer service. I feel comfortable turning to them with questions even about plants and bulbs from other sources and always get prompt, knowledgeable answers that help me become a better gardener.
Also a note about lycoris radiata: I had purchased a few of these from White Flower Farm last year and wanted more, but really didn't want to get them from WFF, as last year's bulbs arrived sprouting about 3" already and in a very fragile state. I ordered several from Touch of Nature in Sept., and they arrived as one would expect a healthy bulb to look: plump and firm and not yet sprouting at all. Within maybe a month's time, the foliage from these bulbs matched the foliage from last year's (and I'm still waiting to see about the blooms, which I guess will come next fall).

On December 13th, 2007, shimer added the following:

I gave several amaryllis gift boxes from Touch of Nature both in 2005 and 2006 to nurses help me with my care. All winter I heard how glorious the amaryllises were, even children eagerly engaged in following how they unfolded and blossomed. Super big hit! Enormous bulbs, never seen anything like it (not like the ones available in places like hardware stores and chain nurseries). One nurse wanted to plant the bulb after it bloomed, and Bert gave her detailed instructions. She showed me a photo (in the spring or summer, don't remember)--fantastic customer service. The bulbs are always healthy and plump. If we weren't in such a drought, I would have purchased from them this fall.
So this year I bought the Amaryllis collection to give to my friends and nurses (one for me), and just a handful of miniature irises--all healthy and very promotly delivered by the time indicated on order.

Fall came and went as did winter and now it is mid-spring. Zero blooms on 100 bulbs. I planted too early, too late, too deep or not deep enough with too much or not enough water. To strike out in such a big way was very disappointing. I am willing to take some percent of blame but I planted the bulbs as instructed when I got them and then waited and waited. Plenty of leaves so maybe next fall will be the show. I'll reevaluate my ratings then but for now I have to downgrade from positive to neutral.

Excellent all around. Online ordering is very buttoned up--with order confirmation and shipment tracking, etc. Plus, all bulbs came as promised during the proper planting time for my region. Once, a bulb order came up short 5 bulbs and there was no problem straightening things out. The customer service has been great--both Ingrid and Bert have been super helpful re: orders and questions. Definitely, I felt well taken care of by professionals who knew their stuff--and were warm humans on top of that. What's more, all bulbs ordered from Touch of Nature have come up--unlike another company I ordered from this past spring. Touch of Nature's tuberoses are beginning to bloom right now and are quite lovely. Added to this, comparison shopping on various plant and bulb Web sites shows that Touch of Nature gives good value for the money. So it comes as no surprise that I've got a fall bulb order in with Touch of Nature. --Hilary Smith

There are several reasons to give this company a postive rating. They answered my question right away via email, Bert was very friendly, shipping was super fast and packaged well.

The only slight problem I have is that the fans are not as large as what I get from Oakes Daylilies. I should add that I only paid 16.00 for 18 daylilies including shipping. It will take a couple years to get these daylilies to a decent size. For the price I guess I got what I paid for but really was expecting more out of them because of the great comments people have left about them. I would still order from them in the future but would expect less than I did when I placed this order.

On May 29th, 2005, c2garden changed the rating from positive to neutral and added the following:

After inspecting the fans again this morning after soaking I still am not thrilled with the divisions. To clarify about the fan size...I emailed Bert to ask about the size of the divisions. He said he would ship out three fans per division which he did. The fans themselves are very tiny even for Stella De Oro and hardly green. The root system is very tiny compared to the other Stella De Oros I have bought through the mail. The roots were very dry and after soaking are not what I get right out of the box from Oakes Daylilies (nice plump healthy roots). If you are looking for great daylilies that will thrive and bloom the first year you should try Oakes first since I always divide the ones I get into three plants and they are still healthier and larger than the ones I just received. When I buy from Oakes the daylilies after dividing come to $1.38 a piece and with this company were .60 but not as healthy. In the future I will only order from Oakes for daylilies since I feel like I need to create a space for the daylilies to grow for the next two to three years before I add them to my display gardens. It is not worth the time to save .78 per plant. I am changing the rating to neutral because of the plants not the service I was given. I will not buy daylilies from them again and am hesitant to order anything else.
On May 30th, 2005, c2garden changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following:

Bert emailed me after I posted the comments. He explained that I could send them back to him. He was and has always been very nice. I emailed him and told him I would have them ready that day and asked him what my credit to my card would be. I never received an email back from him. I understand because it is a holiday weekend. I talked to a newbie gardener about some of the daylilies I had in my gardens and she wanted to try some. I gave her some of the daylilies that TON sent me. I decided not to send them back because I already paid 6.00 for a ten dollar order. It just would not be worth it to send them back for a few dollars in return. Maybe I will plant some and be proven wrong. I really hope I am because of all the great comments people leave about this company. I would love to have another nursery to order from that I can trust. We gardeners get burned way too much and I just don't think this company is out to do that.

Although the website is slightly difficult to navigate, being a bare basic site, searching helps find the things one might be looking for. Mind you, I live in Ohio and they shipped from Georgia. Now I don't know whether to compliment TON or USPS :-) or both.
I am waiting for the tuberoses to grow leaves and maybe then i can comment on the final quality of the product but visually, the bulbs look just right and there shouldn't be any problems with the product. I certainly wouldn't mind doing business with them again, as a matter of fact, i might prefer doing business with them as compared to say Breck's who end up canceling your order and not informing you about it, just because you happened to have a coupon as part of your payment.

This is the company that turned me into a bulbaholic five years ago, and they remain my favorite mail order firm of the several I deal with. Their prices on paperwhite narcissi begin the season at what most other places offer during the last week of sales, and the vigor of the bulbs is phenomenal for any price. I've also had great success with their daylilies, which were so unbelievabvly low-priced I was really expecting dead roots to turn up in the mail. Their offferings are a bit limited compared to some retailers, but they have been slowly expanding.
