Martagons

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

I could tell the difference right off! The first one is a lady ~ because of her curtsy. ;)

For Mrs. BH, how long did it take to get from scale to bloom?

This is the fourth year for Mrs. R. O. Backhouse. Last year it did not bloom. Quite good for a mart, I'd think.

A better pic, showing the bicolor backs.

What a lovely shot, and setting, and lily. Look at that black stem! Gorgeous.

Covetous....

Leftwood, your pink spotted martagon looks just like Pink Attraction in the Lily Nook catalog I was ogling last night.

I too would like some clarification on just how much shade martagons can take here in the north - Boston- 6a. I have no sunny space left, but plenty that gets only a few hours in the morning and just a few dribs and drabs through the overhanging trees during the day.
I'd love to try a few martagons there, but it would be an expensive experiment if it didn't work.

Those bunnies sure are cute.

Loving all of these martagons! So pretty!

Here's mine, but I cheated. I bought this one in a pot this spring, already sprouting. It was labeled as a seedling with pink/white parents. This is my first blooming martagon, and, oh, I really like it! Its spots are less fancy than Mags or Lefty's, but I'm happy. I've left it in its pot so I wouldn't disturb it this year. I hope I can keep it this happy once it's in the ground.

Thanks :) Everyone else's collections are exquisite, though

(And I forgot to mention how cute the bunnies were, too....)

Moby, Well, regionally available, really-they aren't exactly stocked at most nurseries-it came from this plant sale, which is a very, very dangerous place to go, lol

OOooo that looks baaaad! ;)

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

I see they also have a fall sale. Think I'll have to get the big ol' truck out of the driveway and head northish...

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Oh my, that looks dangerous ... don't you need some chaperones. ;-)

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Sure, sounds good-as long as they're good garden enabking ones....lol.. Weather's still nice out here in Sept-Do you and Moby want to volunteer?
Pard, if you do decide to head up this way and would like some company, let me know :)

My seedling Lilium tsingtauense did bloom a while ago. Looks like it could be true to the species. But there is something about it that makes me not sure. Besides, when the bloom is upright (as it is), signifying it is tsingtauense, if there is only one bloom it's not a good test. Many of you know from experience with other lilies that one bloom can be more upfacing than when there are multiple blooms on the same stem for the same variety.

So, I'll need to wait until next year for accurate ID.
