Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Isn't that a Spanish (or French) Lavender (lavender stoechas) blossom?

That must be because that is just what it looked like.....

RC, 'I see the light' is so pretty. As are all the bugs, butterflies, and bloom. Judi that rhodie does look just like my flore pleno. Mine blooms much later.

Willow my rhody still has a lot of blooms to open. Don't you just love the color?

I have lots of bees in my yard - no shortage here!

This is Mrs. Furnival's Daughter. Yes I agree, it is a great color.

Patricia - my Centaurea is just about to pop now, too. I figure next time this year, we'll be seeing lots of babies . . .

I filled in my Physocarpus 'Coppertina' and Geum 'Borisii' container tonight. I can hardly wait until the Ninebark fills out. This will be its last year in the pot, for sure.

And my new pot is Phormium 'Dusky Chief' and Geum 'Mango Lassi'. A surprise that kind of hit me tonight. I added another two favorites to the pot, Euphorbia 'Bonfire' and Heuchera 'Obsidian' (the only one that made it through the winter).

Interestingly, I just saw a site that recommended a pairing of Mango Lassi and Coppertina. I think that would look good, too and may be a good long term planting idea for me.

And look at my lovely Trientalis. It's blooming now. The rain didn't even phase it. It's pretty tough!

In this same spot around a mature fir tree I lost three mature (10 years old or more) Nandinas. I cut them all back to the ground. And now I'm four for four for them coming back.

Katie.... those are great pairings!

Willow.... you have such great taste in Rhodies!! I say that mainly because we have so many that are the same. I love corally/orangy/yellow type colors. It looks like you do as well! and the yaks are great for small spaces.

I love the tulips!

Bea... you and the bee look close enough to be good friends!

red.. I was pretty close to that bumble and I am friends with all the bee's. They don't bother me. It's those pesky wasps that get on my nerves. Once the sunflowers begin to bloom it is bee central around my house. They seem to love those the best! Planted a bunch a seeds today . (second round) . I try to plant some every week so I have blooms into the fall.

Everyones pictures were lovely today.

Kathy - Bonfire will not come into its glory for another year - so don't get discouraged. I almost heaved it but this is what is the result of resting for the winter:

Good to know, Kate, about Bonfire. I picked it up as a tiny pot at Heidi's last year and it's still pretty small, so I figured I'd start it out as a pot plant (not that kind of pot plant LOL).

I just love the red/orange in it.

Nice pictures of your garden. What's to the left of the Bonfire in your picture?

oh - glad i checked back! Hypericum 'Albury Purple'. Gets about 4' x 4', deciduous shrub, golden yellow flowers, love the new foliage. I had 3 - this is the lone survivor. If I'm not mistaken, it was Withey/Price that brought this back from the UK about 10-12 years ago.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I love the foliage on it, too. But to lose two out of three - frustrating.

i love the davidia Katye. They have such interesting blooms!

sooo.... A few more things from the other day while I'm going through more pics.

Other than some weeding, I'm actually pretty ok with this bed right now. Although, I do need to do some transplanting from there.

check out the size of this flower! For comparison, you can see the rhody leaves in the background, they're standard sized large leaves.
