This year's project

Santa Fe, NM

I've heard of other parakeets talking. They have to be taught to repeat phrases. They generally will only do it as a last resort if there are no other parakeets around to talk to. They are quite smart for small birds. Parrots are very smart indeed.

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

Interesting. They learn English if they don't have another bird to speak parakeet to. It's a social thing. I wonder if that is true of parrots also.

Santa Fe, NM

Probably so, since Human is not their native tongue and birds are Very social animals. I think they find us large, rather stupid and unpredictable.

Gastonia, NC(Zone 7b)

Sometimes I find us that way too, Roybird, LOLOLOL! Good one. :-))

Dave who is Dave might want to start another thread for his project, as this one has gotten rather lengthy, not to mention that we snuck fairies of all seasons along with various birdlife into his yard there, tee hee.

Albuquerque, NM(Zone 7b)

Will do. The fairies are fine as long as they stay online or naturally put themselves in my yard. Is there an herb fairy?
