You might try this for the potted JI as I know what you mean about the mice and voles they love the sibs and JI roots, I now put a little of the baited grain in the pot and the holes and they are not a problem...and this one is not a domino effect on other animals either...so pretty safe since I have the 4 cats and 1 dog you know I watch out for that...

Yea rhizomes--train the yardboy what to call them. He can earn money & learn something.
