Chicken portraits and pictures- lets see 'em

San Bruno, CA

I always enjoy looking at the pictures of everyones chickens. I thought we could have a thread just for the funny, interesting, beautiful, or just fun pictures people want to share. Add some info if you can.

This is my Blue Andalusian Hen Soup sun-bathing. She is six months old.

WOW! That's a great picture! You must have a knack for photography, a great camera, a very tame chicken, or some combination of above.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Super shot! I am jealous all over again of Soup! She is just gorgeous. I will have to get creative with my camera now!

San Bruno, CA

Thanks guys! Encouraging people to get creative with their cameras is part of the point (in addition to seeing pretty chickens). Chickens aren't that easy to take good pictures of, and I am trying to improve by practicing. The picture would have been better if it hadn't been taken in the mid-day sun. The high contrast makes Soup's comb too bright and her eye in too much shadow. Next time I'll get out there earlier.

PERTH, Australia

Myrrh, Soup is stunning! What a great picture.

I hope you don't mind me joining in with my beautiful Black Orpington whose name is Manhatten. This shot is from a scanned photograph (before I got a digital SLR). The original photo shows her in a much better light, but I still thingk she's gorgeous.

She is beautiful!!! Her posture is particularly regal, almost statuesk. Thanks for joining in. I didn't expect people to be so reticent.

Harmonyplace, jump right in. That's the point. Share all the pictures you feel too much like a showoff sharing elsewhere. I hereby proclaim that I at least (and I suspect many others) am interested in everyones braggy pictures.

What gorgeous pictures you all have! Keep them coming. I'll try to get something new of the girls over the weekend or something. :)

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Wow Harmony - I'm amazed at the size of the comb on that baby. None of mine have ever had combs come out like that so young. That is quite impressive! What kind is he? Are they known for having combs start out so defined at such a young age?
