So Mag, what was the bud count on your L. leichtlinii? From your pic above, you have a happy, healthy plant.

I planted a leichtlinii bulb last fall from our North Star Lily Society sale. It has 12 flowers. The size of species bulbs, being smaller than hybrids, can really fool you sometimes!

18! I was so impressed. It really packed some punch for the size of a species bulb. It seems to have a long bloom time too.... nicely staggered. It still has a couple more to go yet.

Did you just love yours too, Lefty?

I am loving my leichtlinii, Mag. The flower looks exactly like yours. 18 is certainly something to crow about!

I had gotten the last bulb we had at our sale, so I can't make true L. leichtlinii seed (self infertile). Do you think you could send me some pollen?

I'm loving mine too. Not as many bud and blooms as your Mags, but lovely just the same.

I may have to get that one! :) You guys are such bad influences on me, or at least that's what I'm telling my husband.. :) LOL

I have L.leichtlinii, "King David", and "Citronella" I am not sure I can tell the difference.

I placed a 'Citronella' bloom right next to a L.leichtlinii bloom, and there are subtle differences in flower form and spotting; I was curious myself at a distance. I prefer the species to the others. Have you held them side by side intercessor?

We, well I, want a new thread about leichtlinii/Citronella. Go here:

for more discussion on this subject.

Just a little birdie reminder for all of you and your fabulous pictures! Don't forget about the photo contest with Faraway Flowers for those who have taken such lovely photographs, many of which appear on this thread.

It ends next Monday, September 15th! Seriously, what do you have to lose? I was lucky enough to have some free bulbs this year as a contest winner from last year.

Show off those lilies and good luck to all!
