Are ya'll ready for S-N-O-W?part 2

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Jets do not fly that low here in nowhere land. At the same time my cell phone started blinking red for the whole sunset.
I am thinking little green men. LOL

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Brenda,
We were typing at the same time.
That is very strange about the checkerboard. It would have been a good picture for sure.

We also have fighter jets and those copters going over our house very low. They shake the house and they are gone, you don't even see them they are going so fast.

Remember the old sonic booms?

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Has anybody noticed its lighter at 5:30 PM instead of pitch black now!
Its downhill from here on folks!

Ooookay... one more and I'll stop.
(I could do this all day long I have 5 grandkids)
This is one of my very favorites of all the photos I've ever taken.
This was right after witnessing the birth of my grandson Leyton when
he was surrounded by his daddy and attending nurses.
I call it "Loving Hands".
I love how all the hands are reaching out to him from the darkness...

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Know what you mean. I walk the dog in the woods every day. We break a trail with the quad, but it is still hard walking. Flared my knee up something fierce. I had to walk the dog riding the quad yesterday morning. Put heat on it last night and it is much better.
Tramped through the swamp and over trees last night to find DH deer he shot. That, probably didn't help. LOL. I thought I would realy be in trouble with it today. The old body isn't what it used to be, but I still keep trying.

Sanford, MI(Zone 5a)

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

We didn't loose even half of our snow. I hear that Saginaw lost it all in the melting before the freeze.
I am glad that wind calmed down. I thought I was going to look out and find a yellow brick road in front of the house.

Sanford, MI(Zone 5a)

I'm glad it did too but its still breezy out there not as cold had to sweep off the walks and deck be for all the kids get here and track it in

Merry Christmas everyone!!

We're having a quiet Christmas eve. Hubby is all retired now and we are going to be slugs for a while. :) The son and his family are coming over tomorrow for dinner. I can't wait to see the grandbaby open her presents.

Weather is calm now.. We did get a little bit of snow but not enough to measure. We still have a white ground from the last snows.

Stay warm and come back after all the hoopla and tell us about your Christmas Day.

Brenda

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

merry christmas everyone!!!! we had a wonderful suprise our son drove home from georgia hes in the Army. almost everyone knew at the hospital where i work the family knew. my husband didnt know either. but my ex knew, the daughters of course knew. so we were at my parents house for a christmas party on sunday afternoon and Matt drove up and suprised my parents and my self... what a wonderful gift to have him home for christmas. :):):):):). can you hear my joy???? I didnt have a ny gifts for him so i had to go shopping after work on monday. I had some gift certificate for him but i couldnt send them to him we had no address for him. so this way i got to give them to him, and thats much better. he looks really really good he seems like he really has followed his calling. im very proud of him. have a wonderful holiday Ronna

AuGres, MI(Zone 5b)

Wow Ronna, what a great Christmas gift............having your military son home for the holiday. I am so happy for you.

It's all over here. Dinner done, kids gone, dishes washing in the dishwasher, hubby snoring in the recliner with the TV blairing, dogs asleep between his legs. Another Christmas past. We had a wonderful day. Dinner turned out great and on time. Everybody liked their gifts. We got a kick out of watching the grandbaby open her toys. Weather was good. Still had enough white on the groung to make it look Christmas-y. Now on to New Years. We'll probably babysit so my son and DIL can go out and celebrate.

I'm attaching a pic of the granddaughter. We discovered she's crazy about black olives! She even opened a cupboard in the kitchen and found a can. She put it in her box of toys going home. She saw the picture on the can of the olives and said, "yum yum".

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Cute pic of the lil' olive eater.
I always feel a little let down after they all th kids and grd. kids leave...like it was over too fast.
All that preparation and anticipation then in a few hours its over.... sigh...
never-the-less much fun.
My husband and I always say as we are waving goodbye..." we love to see them come and we love to see them go."
Boy those grand babies keep you hopping and poop ya out don't they?
We've gotten rather spoiled by our empty nest life style. ;o)

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

My gathering is today....CR you are right....all that work for such a short time. We have 2 new grandbabies...should be a fun day watching them! I'm using all 'real' dishes, so I'm dreading the aftermath of dinner...yuck...all those dishes...

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Sounds like everyone had a great Christmas. I love hearing about the great surprizes and fun with your families.
We had 2 dinners here. One on sat and one yesterday. Both meals went well and everyone was over filled and happy.
We had so much fun seeing everyone. Our grandbaby, the kids, cousins, parents, brothers and sisters. What fun to have everyone together.
Should have been a big stress, but I planned well and it went off great, and I had plenty of time to enjoy everyone.
We had a special treat in the morning. A rooster pheasant came to visit us at our bird feeder. This is the first one we have seen here in 12 years. We thought it must be a good luck sign. And I think it was.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

wow cpartschick, about the pheasant. over here in gladwin twp they are like rats. we have them everywhere. they are a bit annoying in the spring when they are mating, they make lots of noise even before the sun comes up. very pretty birds though. merry christmas all, my gosh is that the sun? yes.yes i think it is.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Ha,ha. I thought I saw some bright stuff, but didn't know what it was called. Sun, you say?

greathorse, are there alot of fields around you? I can see where a bunch of those buggers could be noisy. I sure enjoyed seeing this one though. We do see them flying over the road and that, but never by the lake, river, or in the marsh. Too many coyotes and bobcats. This pretty guy may be lunch for somebody, if he hangs around.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

funny, yes we have lots of corn fields around us.i hope he's not lunch, they are pretty. i've never had them in my bird feeder though.i think the new dog may keep them away too.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

I live in Sage township, right next door!
I am glad to hear that the phesant population is doing so well. Used to see them all the time as a kid. They are a beautiful bird.

I had to laugh about your spring mating season. Here we have the geese and peeper frogs. So loud at night that you have to close the windows.
In the woods, the owls, coyotes and bobcat get pretty noisy.
I love it though.

Hastings, MI(Zone 5b)

Merry Christmas to all!
I am glad everyone got to share with their loved ones, young and old.
Dori-
there is a jewish joke about the family leaving. Its a little risque', so
if you want to hear it, send me a dm! LOL

Now, we are waiting for the new election year, oooops, i mean
happy new year. And so it starts.

we only got about 1" the other night, just white to cover it up on
the christmas morning. very pretty.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Wiggly, already got an automated call about someone running for president. Sheeeesh. On Christmas eve at 6 pm.
I think we will have to unhook the phones for a year.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

I'm pooped...had our family gathering at our home yesterday and even though I had things all planned out....it was still a little frazzling. Just got the third load of dishes in the dishwasher. Now I just need to put away all the Christmas dishes and serving pieces.

Someone dumped a big glass of mountain dew on the kitchen floor, so that needs a cleaning now too. I always wait to burn all the wrappings for a couple of days as I can't tell you how many times I've received a frantic call..."missing money or gift card!"

Weather looks foggy out...can't tell if it is a light snow or what. But I hear that we are under a winter storm watch or something of some sort for Friday...I don't plan on venturing from the house, so that is fine with me!

Off to just stare out the window for a bit!

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

We are getting snowed on good right now!! It so pretty.
Visibility is down to maybe a 1/4 mile
Staying in watching movies and playing rock band or dance dance with the family

It's still snowing here. We have about an inch or more on the ground so far. It is a wet heavy snow.

I plan to stay in my jammies tomorrow and not go anywhere. That's the beauty of wintertime.............getting to be slugs for a while and just veg out. :)
Drove by the casino in Standish today. The parking lot of full! It looks about ready to open to me. There were still workmen there and deliveries coming in. It looks like it will be really nice.

Hubby bought some cards and poker chips. He's going to teach me how to play. It's something to do. I'll let you know if I beat him. ha ha ha

Looks like we got at least 6" of the stuff. Windy this morning.
We sure have had a good snow year so far. I bet the sport shop people are loving it. Snowmachines and skis. Some years you can't even get them out.
We have a couple quads, we can use them year round. I enjoy snow more when I can get out and tool around the woods on wheels.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Just wanted to add that flannel pants are the best winter indoor item ever. Cuddle up with some hot soup and let it snow.
Is this how everyone feels? Guess all the company tuckered him out.
