Shari, just read news on internet about a diver about 60 miles from Miami was hit by lighting and killed yesterday. He had just surfaced 30 feet from the dive boat when his tank was hit. What a tragedy.
Nature's Underwater Gardens 3
That is really terrible! My DH and his dive buddies were out yesterday, and they got called in because of lightning. Don't know how long dock security had been trying to reach them...they were all underwater, but as soon as the first one came back aboard they got the radio message. Of course, by that time they were done anyway, but lightning is the main reason boats are brought in. High waves are a warning, but lightning is an immediate recall.
that's better.......
yes dear.
WOW, Shari, so pretty
Hmmm, I think you may be the first person in my history to ever refer to barracuda's as pretty. Maybe I need to look at them with new eyes.
LOL-Maybe I am easily enamored. They're super shiny, and such a disciplined formation. Really a beautiful picture
Well you are certainly right about the formation, and the shine! These are one of the few types of cuda out here that actually school....and they are so shiny that sometimes the pictures blur!
It's easy for me to appreciate anything underwater these days, I really miss the beach in the summer.
And something about where you are actually makes you ponder the thought of appreciating barracuda...lol...must be so great. on that note, I should get sleep ;)
Whew!! Finally caught up on here!! lol. Love all the pics!! They are great!!
John, hope your thumb heals well for you.
I absolutely love your analogies....so fitting. tks again.
Shari, what a perfect pic! I just "redecorated" my 55 gallon indoor aquarium and have two ceramic fish on the bottom that look very similar to the ones in the center of your picture. Of course, yours are prettier! :^)
Shari, any news of John? I suppose that because he has dropped out of site that he is in myjammie and not his usual self just yet. He is in my prayers.
I hope he knows we are all thinking about him. I haven't heard anything yet....Hope to soon, and I'll let ya know when I do.
The wing is still recognizable even to the blades. Very neat.
On the picture above that whith the busy fish in the city. Are they swimming around some sort of spiny looking coral or is that some sort of sea weed?
Shari I've been lurking other places and what do I see???....Shari. Smart lady.
I just found this thread last night. I got through half of it before I hit the sack. Just finished the rest. The photos are incredible guys!
John, I'm saying a prayer that all goes well with your thumb. Hope you are able to dive again real soon. Please keep sharing your photos. We don't mind the "old" stuff since it's all new to us. :-)
Janet
Janet - wondered where you were! Howdy! Christi - I don't know about smart - just garrulous! Zany - its coral. We don't have sea-weed or kelp out here....water's too warm. Biggest kelp forest I ever saw was off the coast of Catalina - huge! Hard to swim in, I kept feeling claustrophobic.
Here's another shot of The Wing - look at all the growth on it and you'll see why I put it in Underwater Gardens.
Any and everything you post is great to us, Shari. We are hungry for knowledge and you are full of it.........whoops! That didn't come out right. uuhhh,,,errr,,, we think you are pretty special gal......keep it comin' cause we're waiting.
Christi Lou
LOL Christi!!!
LOL! You aren't the first to say so!
Man Shari! Those wrecks are home to many things.
I've seen underwater filming, etc. but it never registered in my mind just how many beautiful things live under the sea. My mind thinks - Deep Water = Big Fish with Big Teeth! HAHAHAHA (Nothing pretty about that mental image!)
You folks have shown us a world that God has provided that we'd most likely never see in our lifetimes.
I'm sure many folks are lurking in the background in awe. Every time I open one of the photos my jaw just drops...... I have no control over it. I've started keeping a drool bucket by my desk. HAHAHAHA
Janet
LOL on the drool bucket!!
Janet - well those of us without the talent to create things for ourselves need to find it somewhere else! I couldn't sculpt a mushroom out of a toadstool! You, on the other hand will probably find something wonderful to create out of your drool bucket! So I will be adding to the creation process by proxy!
I can see things to create in my head but actually creating them like Janet does is pretty much impossible for me. Drives me nuts when my fingers start itching cause I know I can't make or draw what I wanna do. lol
I'm the same way....I used to see the coolest charicatures in the grain of the wood used for a fence by where I used to work. But everytime I tried to "paint" them, they wouldn't come out as cool as they were in my mind's eye. Drove me nuts so I quit trying, and just enjoyed em in my head.
LOLOLOL I'd have to add "something" to the drool to make it harden to shape Shari! Perhaps I could save it to water with this winter! HAHAHA
Thanks Pep, but it's actually Connie that has the wherewithal to make an idea or vision into a reality. I just tag along, learn as we go, and add some color and pizazz to the ideas. We brainstorm together very well. Between us, we can usually figure out what components are needed to make things happen.
Hmmm let's see.....add it to a silicone gel to make the "bubbles" in an underwater sculpture? Ummmm, use it as the wetting agent in something to make it truly "organic"? I'm sure you can figure something out! Tee hee. My friend in Israel has sent me some of the most glorious slide shows of blooming cactus, and a Montreal mosaic garden...I am sort of still catching my breath from seeing such incredible beauty. Wish I could share them with all you folks! Instead I will send you this beautiful soft coral:
Thanks.....again.
hey there...just go back and can type with 1 hand now...hard cast on right...went well and have 5 weeks of cast to deal with....you guys should have seen the alarms that my new steel set off in the airport! a TSA worker had to rub my cast with some sort of swab thing to check for explosives and drugs... i told her that it felt good and she stopped and turned me loose....just doing their jobs i know....anyway, glad to be back home, have week off now and then i will go back and do what i can....glad to see all of you, will type when i can..
john
So glad to hear from you. We have all missed you and worried about you. Forgot to tell you....I am the world class worrier.......anything you need worrying about.....send it to me and I'll add it to my list. Seriously, very glad that you had no complications. Enjoy your time off and rest up.

thanks christie, i had intermittent internet in the hotel and when i tried to post here, i could not...thanks for the thoughts and prayers...i have an amazing hand specialist in miami and he has cutting-edge technology that he uses to treat carpal tunnel syn. and anything with upper extremities...i highly recommend him for anyone suffering with cts or any other hand problems...world-reknowned specialist, Dr. Alejandro Badia. Google his name for information on who and what and why....thanks,
j
Leaving in about 10 minutes to go have an MRI with contrast on the lower lumbar. Have had 3 epidural shots, the last one two weeks ago today. Not a lot of relief and hoping he will say no surgery, we can do thus and such. My son has cts and other radiating pain but he is in Tulsa OK and they are not known for the absolute best in medicine.
John, I am so glad to hear that your surgery went well. I had to laugh about you telling them it felt good when they rubbed the cast. I can just see them deciding you were enjoying it too much and sending you on your way.
Hey! you actually posted a picture of something I recognize! Hermit crabs are so cute. I used to get furious with people visiting the tide pools to collect shells. They would yank the hermit out and take his home away as a souvenir! One guy actually told me that it was good to do this because they (the crabs) steal the shells from their original inhabitants by killing then so the crabs were causing other species to die out. What a moron!
John! Hello! I'm very glad that everything went well. Were you expecting to be in a hard cast? That sounds kind of troublesome! I tried Messengering you a few times, but my connection just can't handle keeping Messenger open for too long....it m.a.k.e.s e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. g.o. s.o.o.o.o s.l.o.w. Ahhhh island life. I'm so glad you are back!!
Shari, just when I think the colors couldn't better.....
I'm one of those that sees things in the clouds.....this last post....on the left looks like a little lamb's head....altogether great.
