Sidney good to see you back!
Better to see the Coleus shots! LOL! Just kidding mostly..... ;-)

We went to my S/O's Family Reunion yesterday about 80 miles north of here.
A beautiful wooded hilly park built around the site of Fort Sinclair.
We immediately got a 45 minute shower...
They REALLY needed it!
The park was green and lush but the surrounding areas are toast.
Course then the sun came out so all the trapped moisture just turned to steam.

A bit later we went up to see Marcy_1 (only about 20 minutes further north) and enjoyed her wonderful Garden.
While walking on lawn that crunched......

Hot and humid here today it's supposed to be sunny and clear... right now it's 68° and overcast.

Here's a shot of some spectacular Phlox at Marcy's

And a rather bizarre creature many of you may have never seen.
We seem to run into them every time we go to a visit and new DG Garden....

Is it a bird?
Is it a bee?

Neither it's Hemaris thysbe AKA The Hummingbird Moth.
The wings originally look like a regular moth.
As they age the rapid wing movements cause the scales to come off and become transparent.
They act just like a Hummer but will allow you to get right up on them.
I've even had them rest on my hand.

Good Mornin! The weather here is rather humid...supposed to get some rain this afternoon! :D
Ric, Neat pix! (LOL! I like how you entered "e" for the weather trivia! :D) And I Love Mary's yard! Not a thing to Mow! :D Is her entire yard like that !? :D
Sidney, Glad you got all "switched over"! I Do Love the Coleous! :D
Kiska, I love pic #2! Your deck looks so Nice! And What a Backdrop! :D
Deb! What a creature! :-O I generally use an arm to combat webs. I prefer spiders to snakes & we have Both. With it being so hot here, all snakes are going to water & guess where I Live?! Give me a spider Any day! :D
Adina, that is the Best Cloud! :D

The answer to the trivia (sorry so late) is....C!
If it were D ~ (Heavy snow, hurricane force winds, and visibility under 1/8 of a mile) we would be in deep trouble! :D
Have a Great Day!

Beautiful, Sharon!!!

Ric, Marcy's garden is simply gorgeous. Thank you!

Those coleus are beautiful, too, Sidney! I had several last year and loved them. I didn't get anymore this year and I miss them! I think they'll be back next year. :-)

It's been thunderstorming off and on here and there is a 40-50% chance of rain every day this week. The good news is, it's supposed to be cooler during the day with the highs only in the 80s. We'll take what we can get. :-)

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

Ric, interesting moth. I don't know if they live around here. I've never seen one.

Joey, great daylily. Mine have all been done for a while now. This wasn't the best year for daylilies for me.

Sharon, nice peaceful sky.

Hot and sunny again. Did you expect something else?

Nearly 1pm; 68*; sunny and a little breeze.
There sure have been some gorgeous photos. MySharona - the sunset was a great treat.
Kelli - each photo is so nice, everything is so different and interesting, it's hard to choose one over another; but, my favorite is the one of the fountains..looks so inviting.

Sugar, your coleus are always picture perfect and beautiful!

Rick, beautiful phlox and an exellent shot of the hummingbird moth!

Joey, I love daylilies and your's is beautiful!

Dyson, it started thundering here yesterday and took hours before it rained, but it sure did!

Sharon, those clouds are so neat!

Kelli, interesting flowers from your part of the world!

Joey another pretty flower! The petals seem in motion.

Sharon, you've got my heart today! I adore oriental lilies!!!

Kiska, sounds like a gorgeous day!

We got rain!!! Starting yesterday, to the ka-boom overhead around 11:00 last night, to this morn. Grand total 2 3/10''. Believe it or not, after getting 7'' not too long ago, we needed it!

Friday we bought a hand pump for outside and by Saturday I was pumping water to my hearts content. Guess I made it rain :))

My butterfly. He has been here for a few years, but is hard to photograph. He's a dusk feeder.

A Golden Clearwing! From Australia!

In between "things to be done"; remains pleasant and breezy and now, an hour later, it's 70*.
Sidney - the variety of coleus is wonderful. I don't recall seeing them as an outdoor plant and had no idea they could be so healthy and colorful. (Not good w/indoor plants, so have none any more)>
MarylynT_X - not only is the butterfly pretty, the blossoms it's on, are just as nice. Sounds like a good thunderstorm last night and needed rain.

BP – Thanks! I wish I could bottle the scent. They smell sooooo good! So glad you got rain. And, your little butterfly is adorable! The smaller they are the harder they are to capture on “film”!
Kiska – I love the eagle picture. I can’t imagine looking up and seeing them just sitting around watching the children play! Speaking of, looks like they had a great time at the park, rain or no rain.

Now
Through 830 PM...showers continue in the coastal communities east of the Saint Johns River from Jacksonville Beach south into Crescent Beach. Most of the showers are light and dissipating as they move north at less than 10 miles an hour.

I'll be back in Ric's area and going nursery shopping to Baker's Acre, and maybe Glasshouseworks. I got a great trip for little $ and why not? Skybus r/t from St Augustine to Columbus for pennies. I have "points" for my motel room. I can hardly wait.

Sidney see if you can hook up w/ Rox....
She knows the Glassworks guys...

Love that Golden Clearwing Billy!

Joey watch the movement... Hummers flit around like maniacs.
Clearwings are very methodical as all butterflies are.... they usually give you time for many shots... sometimes even enough time to go in and get the camera...

Here's one of our braver Hummers

Peterstown, WV(Zone 6a)

Hi! :D Rain! Glorious Rain! And an inch of it! It rained from about 1:00 - 7:00 with some great thrunder! Me & Jack went to sleep on the sofa. :D

Thanx, Kiska, Sharon, and Sally! :D
Ric, I'm gonna go look for the BF tomorrow! I will take my camera this time. Yesterday I was way down the drive way checking out the lilies with a big grin on my face (but that's normal). :D What a Great pic of your Hummer! 1000 Speed! :D
Pepper, hope thing cool off for ya...much too Warm!:-O
Sidney, sound like a nice little trip you have planned...take care & have a heap of Fun!:D
Sharon, That's a Gorgeous Lily! Is it a "Star Gazer"? Gee! :D
Kiska, Looks as if the Gkids a having a great time! But I would be more interested in the Eagles! :-O
Sally, How did that "jewel" get here all the way from Australia? Great Shot!

Today's trivia answer is....D
Hurricane force winds blow on the summit of Mount Washington, New Hampshire an average of 110 days a year (greater than 75 miles per hour). And these winds blow much of the snow off the summit and into Tuckerman’s Ravine.

Good Nite All!

Joey, I'd like to know that too. I guess in some places they are a pest, like anything can be. I was suprised to see it back. I don't remember seeing it last year. It is unusual.

Love the large leaves!

Amelia Island, FL(Zone 9a)

Ric – Great pic of the hummer! What kind of camera do you have?
Joey – Yes, it’s a Star Gazer. I’ve downloaded a couple of pics to the plant files. They smell awesome! Pretty caladium.
Sidney – Have a great time! Did you get the $10 seat?

Ric - the hummingbird photo is wonderful - my gson says it's "awesome"...he's never seen one "live".
Joey - the birdbath is spilling over w/pretty plants. Very nice.
MySharona - seeing that the humidity is higher than the temp must be hard to deal with. The cloud formations sure look good, though.
Deb - looks like a hot day ahead for you, too; but a bit drier than in Florida.
The Matanuska River is gray; filled with glacial silt.

I am very excited. to be on my way.
