Lily Tree? Huh?

Columbia Heights, MN(Zone 4a)

I have the Strawberry & Cream Tango on order from B&D for this spring. I think the one time I ordered lily bulbs from them (VB), they arrived all moldy and were extremely small. One out of three came up and didn't bloom. I don't recall even seeing the one last year.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Hey Beak, I ordered Strawberry and Cream too. Wasn't it lovely? I saw them from other vendors, but with B & D, I always know what to expect ;)

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

I think I will use my free $25 coupon to order some of the spotted lilies this year. I only order from them if I have a free coupon. I think my King Kong bulb from Buggy Crazy was at least 5 foot tall last year. It was a little floppy, so I guess Icould have used a bike to prop it up, but don't think it would have held a bike up. Some of my American series get well over 6 foot too. I will have get the yard stick out this year.

That's gorgeous Susan!

Moby ~
(who is smiling sweetly, batting her eyes and wondering if it makes babies...)

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

Nooooooooooo Not the Lily Tree again... :*)

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Hey, is there something somewhere that says a tree must have bark to be defined as such? Inquiring minds......

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tree

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Interesting, they speak of branches and then the picture of the redwood to the side. Lily Tree, heh?

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Moby, why wait for babies when you can just climb her fence and grab the whole plant! hint: it's the one touching the gutters... :) Ooh, doesn't that sound like what happened to Calvin's plants?

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Wanda! I would never steal from someone I know!!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Moby, I'm guessing American Dream may have produced a few babies by now, I'll check it out this fall. How are your transplanted children doing?

susan

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Very, very well. They seem to be happy in their new home and show it with lots of big noses popping up. I have at least 4 that are going to be fasciated so it will be and interesting display.

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Lots of surprises in store for you when you let a crew of DGersmove your garden in a day... :)

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

Hmmm, Did you plant stuff she didn't have? ;*)

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Wish I could have, but I was beat from digging & planting all she DID have ! I hope we got everything.... It was kind of a late fall rescue operation. From the sounds of it, most of it is even alive! Surprise!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

*and the old house hasn't sold yet, so I snuck over there and snagged a couple more plants and a few bulbs that were missed* >:)

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Good for you! Under the moonlight wearing your miner's helmet & carrying your poacher's shovel????

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Heck no ~ broad daylight! All the neighbors know me, the house is empty so who are they going to tattle to? ;p

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Sneaky, eh, Moby. We'll just call you the Lily Burgler. LOL!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Yeah? Well where do you think my RU plants are coming from?? heh heh

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

The round up's black market lily burgler. Sums it up well, don't you think?

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Truly!

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

LOL OHH! Does this mean we will have a Nebraska cop chasing you around the IARU?

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Nah, I'll buy him off with plants.

Saint Bonifacius, MN(Zone 4a)

Well, if you can make it to the state line . . .

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Good point!

But then again, there's probably serious prison time for transporting stolen plants across state lines. I'd hate to go to the pokey for a 'hot hosta'.

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Moby, I can think of a better way to bribe a cop.......cookies! Ha Ha I saw your dirty mind working... LOL

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Well, Breck's is back at it with the Lily Tree advertising. Got my catalog yesterday and there was the 'Boogie Woogie Lily Tree', funny I didn't find that one on the Online Lily Register, just 'Boogie Woogie'. I would hardly call 'Boogie Woogie' a tree.
In the recycle bin it went.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

My Boogie Woogie divided and became 4 little pointy shrubs;-)

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Such a shame ~ now where are you gonna park your bike??

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

I'll park my bike between the shrubs-- won't be able to fall over either way!

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

You guys never cease to crack me up. Everybody needs a bike rack.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Who'd have ever thought telling someone "nice rack!" wouldn't be considered tacky? lol Only in this forum.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

You all are a hoot! I actually dragged my Breck's catalog out of the recycling bin to see this infamous "Boogie Woogie Lily Tree" and it's not in my catalog at all. I'm actually disappointed... I am blessed with "Sunny Twinkles" Alliums, though! woo-hoo....

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Oh I avoid those sunny twinkles at all costs! They are invasive and I will never get rid of them in one of my gardens.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Well, the Sunny Twinkles went back in the recycling bin, too, so I think I'm safe! ;)

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

You did a good thing!

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Whew, dodged a bullet, lol!

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

I have this horrid garlic all over in one of my gardens. When I pull it out it leaves at least 10 chips that grow. Want some?
