Blooming July 8
My circle bed, with 12 mini roses around the outer edge, 4 hy teas (front, back, and each side, and DL's all in between. I'm going to separate them this fall and have the roses in one and the DL's on the other side of the yard. Prepping for that bed soon....

Lalambchop, Thanks for the info on petaloids..never heard of it before. I have just read more about it and you are sooo on target. I looked at a lot of D. Kirchhoff's DL and his truffles also. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge on this. I never found this particular daylily that I've been trying to identify, but at least I know more about it.

Yesterday we attended the SMHS.
My son Joey, won a few ribbons, and a crystal vase.
In the off scape competition, he won with BIG BIRDS FRIEND.
(Upper left hand corner - this is the one he won the vase for)
He Won:

Here is Calico Jack - I just got this a month ago from Blue Ridge Buttons. It's a beauty.
This is Forty Second Street. It's first blooms were not double but from there on its been consistently double. Its been blooming since May and hasn't stopped. I love it.
Pure and Simple was the first to bloom in the field this year and has never stopped since, It is a thick, beautifully formed flower and is one of my favorties. The name decribes it well.
This is an oldee but goodie - Seattle Slew.

Thanks for the congrats on Joe's wins. He really likes the hybridizing end of Daylilies the best, but he enjoyed the competition too.
He and Dad share a love of sports of course, but to say "I am not a sports fan" is putting it mildly, so it's nice to have him enjoy something I like.
