The main color doesn't show very well, but if it is a yellow, it looks like Caravan.

LOVE the clor! I'm planting quite a few more Orienpets this year & speckled Asiatics. Both seem to do well in my mixed beds. Orientals are fighting me.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

wednesday I got my order from blooming bulbs:
Chianti, and Tom Pouce

I just planted Chianti in fall, we should compare first year notes.

Also just found an Orienpet I had'nt heard of called 'Orange Bell'. I recieved a Wayside Gardens collectors edition with it listed. The description says "the richest golden yellow, smattered with red speckles". Anyone grown it?

Wanda, what problems are you having with orientals?

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

Well!!!!!
I went to plant my Chianti and Tom Pouce and they were absolute mush! It was the grossest thing. I will call Bloomingbulb first thing tomorrow and request they make good. I will report here.

Last year they sent daffs that were bad and they made good with some that are growing great this year. But it bothers me that now I get this crummy batch of lilies and will have to possibly wait another year for replacements. Even if they make good, I don't know if I will buy again--I don't like this back and forth business.
grrrr

edited to say: called bloomingbulb this morning and replacement items being shipped tomorrow. Once again a happy camper.

EEEeeeeewwwww!!

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

I didn't notice right away because they well so well and nicely covered with wood shavings. It wasn't til I was ready to plant that I noticed. and they smelled awful when I opened the packages. You can see the glistening rot in this pic. yuck!

I just got these saturday, so it's not like I let them sit forever and a day.

edited to say that I called BB and they sent replacements within 3 days. all the chianti bulbs were great, slightly bigger than golf balls. Four our of five Tom Pouce were good, and one had a little bit of green mold. Is this something I can clean off or should I discard?

that's what I said, Moby, lol

I got lily bulbs from Blooming Blub last year and they were in good sharp, but now with all the amaryllis I got from them not being true to name, I'm a little concerned about what will come up. They are good about refunding money. That's what they did on my amaryllis.

Speaking of spending money, B&D Lily catalog came today and I I want EVERYTHING. I ordered from them right after they brought up the 2006 website and I thought I had seen them all. NOOOO....there's more, much, much more. I know these pictures must be touched up a bit. They are all just too gorgeous.

I bet those bulbs got frozen in transit with all the weird weather lately.

Yes, B&D Lilies. They are out in Washington state somewhere. Beautiful lilies. They do alot of their own hybridizing. I think I've already ordered about a dozen from them for this spring. LOL, I probably won't be able to sleep tonight trying to figure a way to rob Peter to pay Paul! I can't even decide which ones are the prettiest. They are all "gotta haves".

Here's the web site:

voss ~ grab Tammy and slide her on down to our level of lily lust. Who else do you know of? Lily Garden? Lily Nook? Blooming Auction? muwahahaha......

Granite City, IL

I used to buy wholesale from Bloomingbulb about 5-6 years ago. They got so bad with sending rotting bulbs and misnamed ones I had to stop. Sure they would send replacements, but who wants the hassle. I want what I order the first time and I want it in good shape. They were bad back then, I can imagine how it is now that they sell 10x the inventory now.

I will never order from them again.

I do love lilies!!! I bought two big bags of Black Beauty from Costco when they first put them out. Ten big, handsome bulbs per $8.95 bag (less $2 coupon) - TEN bulbs per bag!! Looks like:
http://www.oldhousegardens.com/blackBeauty.asp

So yesterday, I planted 20 Black Beauty and 6 (more) Stargazer. I have more Casa Blanca coming in the mail. I have about 12 CBs planted with Lady Fern like the white flower farm show in their catalog.

I would love some martagons....
