Please be patient with me as I dig and divide my iris's. I will post a list sometime in the next few weeks. It's so hot and humid here and there are only a few hours in the evening that are cool enough to work out in the garden. I will definitely let you all know what I have, and there are already many. If anyone has a wish list, post it here and I'll let you know if I have it. I have about 50 cultivars dug up and some have over 10 rhizomes! Thanks guys and those that DG mailed me, you'll have first pick.
excess iris
Louise,
I would love solid pink, if you have any.
Thanks,
Judy
Ok, Judy, I'll let you know. Thanks.
i have this thread watched ;)
Louise, hope I am on your list. Love two toned iris, but not fussy.
Temps here have been the first of the week over 95 and since Thurs thru today 100 with humidity in the mid to low 70's.
Extremely dry also. Sprinklers going full time just to keep things alive in the garden and flower beds.
Crops such as corn are dryed up.
Maxine
Would love to get your list also. Must be crazy because I've about crippled myself digging a new bed for what I already have coming in.....
Neil

I will try, I said try to get a list together of what I have already, still need to pot some and then what I have left, will go to each and everyone of you. Thank you for taking them off my hands. Last year, before DG, I threw away tons. Yikes. That hurt! Please be patient with me, ok?!
I have these on my wish list..

Louise, if you could mention where you purchased your rhizomes, I could tell you better for names.
I have purchased from Suttons before so have their catalogs.

To everyone who DG mailed me. I will let you all know what I've got, I promise. The response has just been incredible. It would help if anyone is interested in just a "grab bag" type deal! Let me know how many and I'll start grabbing! Thank you everybody, you are just great!

"Grab bag" takers....EG mail me your address and I can get some off this week, hopefully. I won't worry about naming them, they'll be a surprise and let me know about how many you'd like. Thanks everyone!
Please include me for anything you have left. I'd just like to know whether they will be tall or short and colors don't matter. I'm sending address by Dmail and will send you postage money. Thanks for sharing.

Hi everybody!
I got everyone's Dave's mail and will start shipping out to everyone this week. I only ask for postage as I don't need another thing! I'll Dave mail and let you all know when yours have been shipped. The response to this was incredible.
Thanks again and I appreciate your kind words.
Again, please be patient, I WILL get them to you.
Have a great weekend.
Hiya weegy,
How did the Irises fare in the monsoon?
Will that cause you a problem & if so do you need any help?
Dove
DG is just filled with great people like Weegy and dovey. I'm so glad I joined!
oh wow, dovey your landscape layout is looking lovely. Be sure to post a pic when it is further along. I love the curving walk - that is going to look *so* good when its winding through plants.
dovey: I don't know if the iris growers would agree with this but I have heard that you can plant the irises in a bed with chuncks of concrete about a foot below the soil. It gives excellent drainage.
Here, I make a mound that always reminds me of a new grave, then put the plants on top, leaving the corms to sunbathe but making sure the soil is fertile, with compost, etc.
I just don't know if rains, such as you had, would wash the soil away!
Weegy,
Duh! I mixed up your message above with one I sent Pirl. I would love any iris that will do Ok in Florida. I don't have any yet. I sent you a d-mail yesterday. Please excuse a newbie's mistake.
Thanks, Leslie
I would love some of your irises, if you have any left.
Dee :)
Leslie,
Not to worry: Weegy had to know it and I knew it. I'm curious what Weegy and some of the other iris people have to say about the cement. I have the chance to get some little chunks from the town project of removing old sidewalks and curbs!
Pirl
Pirl,
Weegy has some information on her site about growing irises.
http://www.hanksirisgarden.com/docs/growing.htm
I don't see why the concrete chunks wouldn't work. Irises need good drainage and if you have that kind of problem making a gravel, cement or rock filled drainage channel under your bed would be helpful.
Dovey
Thanks for the link: I love to learn.
Thank you KC,
Here is a photo of the new walk back in February.
My husband put it in right before he was deployed so I wouldn't sink in the mud while he was away. I do love it, but it's just set on a sand bed - barely level. I think he plans to redo it and make it a little more, level stable and wider when he gets home. (but keep the same shape)
Hi guys!! Hey Dove. The iris's are fine, we got thundershowers last night. Where in the heck is this crazy weather coming from?
I want you all to know, I'm going to do my best to get everyone their iris's. I haven't been able to go through what I have yet..I'll be shipping this week and next hopefully but please bear with me. The response to my offer is phenomenal. I forgot I had a little trip to the river planned this weekend (120+ degrees!) and that's going to put a damper on my shipping. Just know that I am honorable and they will get to you.
Thanks everybody.
