Oooooo, Terrie, what trouble we all could get into! Wouldn't that be fun?!!! ;-)
CLC, Act VI
oh drat! What IS this stuff that is going around? And are we getting it over the 'net? I was hoping you were both getting well. You both look so laugh full.
I hope the warmer air in Arizona helps Star's coughing and that her Sis is better soon. Winters pass, spring will come. May we all get well and go play in the dirt. As soon as it thaws that is. LOL
I'm about to don my elbow length rose gloves that Wanda sent me and go tackle the trimming. We're supposed to go to 70* today after a 28* morning low. The roses are all putting on green and the apricot is in full bloom. And surest sign of spring - the globe willows around town are all tipped with a lovely light green as they begin their leafing out. /;-)
That sounds lovely, Blooms. :-)
My heart wouldn't take living close to all of you. I would try all the things ya'll do and I just couldn't take it. I'm just a harmless old man that can't take too much excitement. Wanda LOL
Rats... no frolicking for GRC. :(
Moby .in a few years " yes dear " a few ? they fly by so fast .
You will learn harmless is good ?
of course coming from JIM, I don't believe a word of it LOL The sheik harmless ? HA !
hack sniff back to bed for me.
Georgiaredclay--that's not the story you told me... Harmless? You Georgia boys are never harmless....
The prodigal CL has returned! I am better! Yay! I feel a lot better than when I headed off for Az.! I tell ya, I am getting too old for being so foolhardy and taking risks like that.... lol... but all is well that ends well and I got to see Tazzy on the way there.
She was not receptive to my elbow length gloves, or my horse pills! And she wasn't too impressed with the idea of a mineral oil drench, either! There is just no understanding some folks when they are sick..... LOL... But it was so wonderful to meet Tazzy. She is just who I knew she would be! You will not meet a sweeter person or a kinder one. She is a lot of fun and very smart lady, too!!! We laughed in spite of not feeling well and did our best to take a good, fun loving photo. When I saw it, I thought : I should look in the mirror more often. I did not realize that i had gained so much weight this past year... Ah well, that will come off as I get active again. And I will do that soon!!! Spring is coming and I feel better now than I have in a while...
My sis is in Payson, Az and is very special to me. She is not well and is on oxygen 24/7 now. She gets morphine 4 times a day to help make her comfortable. She is only 49 and is the sweetest person you ever could meet.
Jim, yeah and I bet you took your dates on snipe hunts, too.... lol....
Blooms, watch your mail box... my red hat was so frayed that i didn't recognize it... but I found just the ticket in payson.... so way cool... ;) ....
ohferheavens sake, didja go and buy me a RED hat??? Y'all didn't need to do such a thing. I can't believe how nice you are to strangers. Thanks for the thought and now I haunt the PO, right?
So. I go yest to mail out checks and there's a pkg and I think what'd she do mail while in AZ? but Lo it's a pkg of wildflower seeds from Tutti Fruiti's winnings... I said I had the lot next door I was gonna plant to natives and she shared with me.
OH my oh MY, I could plant THREE lots with the seeds she sent. So I'm thinking of looking around for "free ground" starting with just outside the fence line, my daughter's back yard, my son's back forty... /;-) It's a mix of them so we'll just see what manages to come up. heehee
Star, I don't understand what illness your sister has but it doesn't sound good, I will remember her in my thoughts wishing her less pain. My sister's husband is going through cancer treatments on his throat and base of his tongue and with her having MS, being the caregiver is hard on her.
This loving is a tough row, hunh.?

I always enjoy your musings, Blooms.
well, we ain't really strangers, we been conversing since i joined up last september and besides most strangers are just friends that I haven't met yet... (there are some exceptions, but that is rare)...
my sis has had asthma all her life, and was in an iron lung a lot as a child. she has advanced copd, amongst other "probs" (she would be embarrassed if I listed all her ailments) .... copd = chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder... i bought her a subscription to DG so that she could come and read. she is very shy and does not post, but she likes to read the pets, succulents, and prayer forums. she used to be an avid gardener, but is not able to anymore.
I will remember your sister and her husband in my prayers... I don't drink coffee, lol, I get my caffiene from the mtn dew...
That's true about the friends we haven't met. And we've met here. I feel so fortunate to have made my first web contacts on DG. Never had any reason to go anywhere else. It's almost time for my first re-up, gotta do that.
Can i use my chg card? 'Spin got me in last year, hey, mebbe I'll do us both while she's still in China. [ I said no, thank you. very politely. never want to sit in a plane that long]
I understand about lifelong asthma problems too, the same [and only] sister had a son die in his early twenties from asthma. or in his case from the years on prednizone [sp] IMO at any rate, I really would like to see some happiness for her. We talk almost daily and don't dwell on sad things and usually make each other laugh a coupla times while we're at it.
Meanwhile we've changed our late May/early June trip from Scotland to her own neck of the woods. The area abounds in really huge old places that are open to the public. So while he recovers from the treatments we will make daytrip forays into Vermont and spend our time together where we can drive on the RIGHT side of the road, LOL ~Blooms
Can I let you girls in on the latest? Our Starr is now a non-smoker!! :-)
That is great. I knew she could do it.
Edited to say I ain't a girl.

LOL, Jim... we KNOW that...
Yes, it is true! I am a non smoker... going on a month now, I think... And thank you, Terrie, cause your praise helped me through a low moment. I was having a tough time this morning and your words really helped!! Now I am just ok!
Spring is coming (yippeee) and we survived the winter... some of us by the skin of our chiney chin chin... lol ... I have always thought they put the new year in the wrong place... I never feel like reflecting back in January, but I always do when spring is coming... I am wierd or what?
Anyway, I am so tickled to see crocus, daffodils, and some hyacinth opening to the sun... some of the unnamed daylilies I planted last fall are breaking ground and I have some kind of lilies (asiatic or oriental) breaking ground as well... this is so exciting!! I have never anticipated spring in quite this way... but then this is my first spring with all the new addictions I acquired from hanging out at DG (and all of you!)... Thank You very much! I do love it... y'all won't be able to put up with me when I finally get some blooms of my own...
Sorry, Jim. lol I don't know about you guys but we had an absolutely gorgeous day today and my back is killing me!
Me, too, Terrie!!! Aint it grand?
Glad you guys are getting some nice weather. Its been raining and very windy here all day yesterday and today.....supposed to rain tomorrow too.....oh well, the rain is good for the flowers and the wind is cleaning all the dead branches out of my willow tree. lol
Yep. But I don't get any sympathy at home. lol
Yes, the rain is good for the flowers, but where are those dead branches going when they come out of the willow tree? sounds a bit dangerous... lol... we are due for rain, too, but I am ignoring that fact in hopes it will go away... nice to see ya! where ya been?
The dead branches are only little ones and they just fall in the yard. I picked up quite a load of them the other day before I mowed the lawn. Most of the big dead branches DH and I trimmed out last summer....and what we didn't get, the power company did when they scalped the poor tree in the fall.
I've been around here and there.....mostly lurking....and of course the last 2 days the in-laws were here. They came to deliver a bday present for my oldest DS......he turns 7 on Tuesday. I can't believe he is almost 7 already! Where does the time go?
two days of 60 70° and i have been out side digging 8 hours a day , all hurts but my hair and it all dried out from wind, i even got pink skin
ah ! SPRING Wind kicking up now rain coming ,that figures so are roofers more waiting ?
maybe for once the weather will hold up just a bit so that your roofers can come... wishful thinking? ... hope not! Ahem, Tazzy: "sunscreen" .... (I can't use it myself, I just turn brown 'er' from the sun)
Mendy, the older you get, the faster it goes.... (time that is) ...
Me thinks yes. Forecast is for scattered thunderstorms. Spring is here!
Yay Spring!!! I know it is here cause I need to buy frontline for the pillagers... ;) ... and I saw two musk thistle in the field... now where is my round up?
Yes it was nice here today but rain moving in tonight. I worked in the yard all day. The top of my head is blistered from the sun. I potted up in gallon pots the 34 Tropical Hibiscus I got in the coop. Separated the Citronella Brug that had sprouted inside and got six divisions and potted them up and then put the mother in the ground. The root on that sucker was about 10-12 inches and round like a ball. Hard wood, I had never seen a Btug with a root system like that. I brought about 20 Brugs out of the basement and left them out thinking that they will get a good dose of the rain coming in and how much good that will do them. I found about 5 in the basement that hadn't started putting out yet. I hope they haven't died. Also Bobbie and I spent a lot of the day just looking around the yard and seeing what had started putting out. I found salvia guaranitica, one of my favorites, peeking out of the dirt in a large pot that is home for it. Three of the four Confederate Rose had roots coming up and the Morning Glory Tree has new growth coming out.Oh yeah I potted up 6 cladium bulbs that I got from Julie 88, thanks again. I think I will plant them under my elephant ears when I get that bed cleaned out for the year. Thinking I will try and find some more as I don't have any caladiums. Maybe some reds. My 14 YOGS came over this afternoon to help me do a few chores. He is saving money for a trip to FL during spring break. I didn't tell him but I would have given him the money without him helping me. LOL He probably knows that already. It is always good to spend time with him. He had his first baseball game yesterday for this season. It was a game that didn't count in the standings but a kickoff for all the teams to showcase their players. My GS started pitching and struck out the only three batters he faced. He is in the eight grade and will be pitching with the high school next year. They have already told him that. Well I came in this evening and sat down in my easy chair and woke up about 30 minutes ago when Bobbie was calling for me to help her get in bed. Wow that was about a 4 hour nap. Did I eat, I can't remember. I guess I better eat a bowl of cereal just in case. LOL All of the plants in my basement look really good. Even the annuals look good and never died back The elephant ears about knee high already. I'll be putting them out next week.
Hope everyone is enjoying life. It is good today.
Jim, I loved your update... that was interesting and fun... I will tell you like I told Tazzy: "sunscreen" and also add the word "hat" to that! lol... My DD played softball for 8 years and was catcher for her team the last 4 1/2 years that she played... now I am watching my GS's and GD's at their games... it is great to follow the sports and activities of your kids but even more fun when it is the grandkids... I got see four of them today and the whole crew is coming for Easter!!! yay! I wonder if 5 dozen eggs will be enough... I sure will be busy this coming saturday... lol...
Wow, beautiful pic Jim! It sure does sound like you had a great day today.
Jim, you are TIRING me out just reading! Don't work to hard or you won't be able to chase your CLC harem around the threads...
Thanks for up dates and pic .whats a citronella brug ? the name got a good ring to it

Hmmm. LOTS. I'll get the bags out of the garage & make a list for you tommorrow. I'm walking dead. Gotta sleep. Night all!
night Wanda! :-)
God bless sleep well .
Night Wanda! Sweet Dreams... cant wait to hear what all you got from sale...
Oh my, you all stay up so late! Jim, I want to know if your basement is covered in a couple of feet of dirt or what. lol You seem to be growing everything down there! And I wonder if the caladium bulbs Julie sent you were some from the bunch I sent her. That would be pretty neat -- the traveling caladiums. :-)
Hoping everyone is well.
Hugs,
Terrie
Hi Terri, The basement is covered with dirt now. It wasn't at one time. LOL
Hey I have polka dot plants, annual, that looks better than when I bought them last year. I figured they would die back but didn't.
Got LOTS at the sale----I spent last night burying my ill-gotten gains in a new lily nursery at the back of the yard. I'll need to rearrange a few things to get those lilies where they really belong....
From the Lily Society Booth I took home: Golden Sunburst Trumpet, Emerald Trumpet, Crimson Elegance (Oriental), Macarena (Oriental), Trinidad (Asiatic)
I bought some lilies at that near-by booth on Saturday, but added MORE on Sunday when the prices dropped thru the floor: Jetfire(Asiatic), White Tiger (to add to my 5 other tiger lily colors), Rubrum species, Royal Love (LA), Aphrodite (pink double asiatic), Fata Morgana (yellow double asiatic), Arena (Oriental), and Royal Surprise (LA). (Had to grab all these fast before Moby, llilyfan or anahi knocked them out of my hands!!!!)
Sue also brought me some lilies we bought together on line: Contrast (orienpet), Albany (Orienpet), Dizzy (Oriental), Manhattan (LA), l. cernum Album (species), & l. Martagon (species)
Well, THAT's not bad enough! When I stopped into buy more metal garden stakes from my favorite garden store, I saw & snatched up Menorca (LA) and Samur (LA) really cheap at a big bulb for $1.50 each!!!
Nice, Tazzy. It'll look smashing with your purple and red feather boa ~ ;)
