Morning Glories 2020 #07

Gautier, MS

Thanks Linda and Jackie.
I think I lost my orange Tecoma plant, luckily I got 2 plants I started from seeds last year so hoping it's my orange one. The leaves seem larger (2nd set of pics), it can't be the yellow one cuz I didn't have it. Sometimes Lowe's gets plants you don't expect to find them selling.
Blooms for today.

Beautiful blooms Helena.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Helena, hope you have an orange Tecoma from the seeds you started. I
thought I had lost my yellow one so I have a baby yellow Tecoma from seeds
I started too. It has some larger leaves too then my older plant.
Beautiful Pink Rose and is that your indica blooming?

Gautier, MS

Thanks Linda and Jackie.
Yes that is the indica with 3 blooms.
We had some rain with surprising thunder today.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Still dry here. We've had a nice prolonged dry spell. We needed to dry out some.
I did not water yesterday and paid for it with blooms that could not open fully,
One looked to be out of Early Call Mixed, a blue bloom in the tub out back.\
Mandevilla

Beautiful blooms Jackie.

Gautier, MS

I agree with Linda on your beautiful blooms Jackie. I love the colors of all of them.
You have really neat ginger plants and blooms. Can you tell the difference between early call mgs and ip. nils? I'm not sure what they are.
We had a lot of rain today, it stopped now. Glad you got a chance to dry out Jackie.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Linda and Helena.
Helena,. the early Call Mxd is Ip nils Also, they are supposed to be Japanese MGs says one site. The lvs on the bloom I am calling Early Call blue are heart shaped like a purp, so might not be Early Call.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Helena, I remember some years ago Ron told us that the Early call Mixed
seeds are Ip nils.
I had a new mg open today, tag says Lav Saz. Way too lite
Plum Surprise and Debs Pink
This little purp blooming in the ground in the sorry dirt. likes that better than the potting mix
The Blue Early Call with droopy blooms. Maybe the bumble bees
had been to visit.
Lost my post so didn;t know which blooms to recapture, thus the double post.

Beautiful blooms Jackie. That blue is stunning.

Gautier, MS

Thanks for the info about Early Call seeds Jackie. I know knows sells early call seeds I think from Parks Seeds. I've bought them before but was afraid of getting them mixed up.
Love all your beautiful blooms Jackie. The first Saz might have some blue and lavender mixed together. One year when I grew one of your lavender saz The bloom had a lot of white on it but that was towards the end of the vine blooming. All your other blooms too have good pretty colors tooo.
It's raining here hard so no blooms for me today either.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks ladies.
Helena, also even if my tag says Lav Saz, the blooms are blue at times.
Not to mention that here the last few yrs my blooms are open pollinated so
never sure of what I will get.
My Early Call Mixed came from Wal Mart. Wal Mart pulls their seed racks too early.
Today the Lav Saz made an all white bloom so very disappointed.
Plum Surprise Sorry this is so big, edited my hand out of the pic
Mandevilla
Helena, finally I see some of the buds on my other vines getting larger.

Beautiful blooms Jackie. I do see a very light tint of blue on your saz Jackie.
I probably bought some of my early call mgs seeds from Wal Mart too. Just glad that they carry seeds.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Helena. You know my eyes are so bad, I can't see the blue.
I;m ready to try some home remedies for my eyes.

Gautier, MS

My eyes are bad too if it wasn't for reading glasses I would not be able to see details, otherwise everything looks blurry.
Well I think the rain went away and we have sun at least for awhile I hope. We need to dry out.
I had a neat surprise bloom from a little purpurea, not sure if it was a volunteer. This is why I don't like to pull them up. A few other blooms too and a new milkweed I got when I was in Louisiana. The last pic is a repeat.

Beautiful blooms Helena. I love it when we get surprise plants that bloom.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Even with my glasses I can't see the lite colored details. When I try on the
magnifying glasses, I can see better. Even though my dr told me I don;t need stronger lenses, smh
Helena, nice to see your pink bloom again. Pretty little purp bloom. You have a
nice collection of milkweeds going.
My mg blooms all repeats today. so just sending the blue
My Tecoma stans, no blooms yet so I'm going to start feeding it with super bloom.
I have a smaller one started from seed.

Gautier, MS

Pretty blue bloom Jackie. Hey not fair, we still want to see your repeat blooms. Hope some plant food will help your Tecoma bloom. I would wear the reading glasses if you can see better with them Jackie.
I was checking out some of my plants, noticed that there were two green skinny long legged bugs eating the heck out of my rose bush leaves, they tried my mg seedling too. I was lucky to catch and squash them.
Jackie look at these 2 Brug plants a couple of streets over. Makes me envy, think they had to plant them at the right time in the right place and probably protect them in winter. Also some of my other blooms.

Wow! Beautiful blooms on all those plants.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks girls. Helena, beautiful Salvia's. I like them too but only have 1 now
You could grow brugs in the ground too. Just mulch them'well for the winter.
Glad you caught the bugs eating your plants. I've even had some eating my Begonia leaves.
Hope I have something different blooming soon.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

The mg I bought from Farmers Market is eat up with mites. It was closing
every morning b4 I could get out there. finally today I caught a bloom. It was in a spot not getting any sun and so it was tricked into staying open pics 1 and 2
Plum Surprise

Glad you caught the blooms open. They are very pretty.

Gautier, MS

Beautiful blooms Jackie. Glad you got to see your pretty bloom along with the others.

I enjoyed watching a juvie hummingbirds in my garden going from flower to flower. Hasn't learned to go to the feeder yet.
I checked my new vines and noticed at least two of the vines had tiny buds. They won't be fancy blooms but at least new blooms to see of my old favorites.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Linda and Helena.
I was so happy to catch the blooms of the Wine and Roses mg. May be the
only blooms I get to see of that vine. Glad you got to watch your hummers visiting'the flowers.
Helena, will be looking forward to your upcoming blooms. sad that mine have been so scarce. I see a few buds getting bigger on mine too,
Feel like I;m trying to be sick, hope it's not covid. Drinking garlic tea and in a few'hours, I'm going to drink a c vinegar in water, trying to fight this off whatever it is.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Plum Surprise has been my most prolific bloomer so far with 3 to 4
blooms open each day. The 2 best pics of Ps today.
My Lav Saz made a better bloom today but still too lite. At least I can see the blue/lav
I feel much better today so must just be a cold. DH setting the air on 67 freezing all of us

Beautiful blooms Jackie. Such pretty colors.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Linda
I was so happy to see 2 or 3 new blooms this morning. They are so tangled I'm
having to assume what pots they came out of.
# 1 and 2 has to be Weird Saz, this is a 5 and 1/2 inch bloom
# 3 Plum Surprise several blooms open today
# 4 This looks like Pres Bush
# 5 maybe Pink Tie Dye

Hope you're not coming down with anything Jackie and that your meds help keep you well.
Your blooms are really stunning Jackie. I love your Saz, the blue color is gorgeous.
Also the lav. saz, and plum surprise and other are really pretty too.
I had a bloom from blue saz too with defects of coarse the story of my blooms.
I found a caterpillar on my giant milkweed, IDed as a Queen monarch, than l
yesterday I found a chrysalis on my other milkweed. So just thrilled that I have them and no idea how they got here cuz I mostly see swallowtails in my garden.

Beautiful blooms ladies.
Nice to see you have monarch caterpillars. That must be so exciting.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Helena and Linda.
Helena your Saz is gorgeous too, one of my favorite mg's. I love your star mg too.
As long as you grow milkweed, the monarchs will find them; their favorite food

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Had another Pres Bush today, a darker bloom then yesterday.
Probably Pink Tie Dye
The blue out back does have nil leaves so it is Early Call Mixed
The purp is on the same bamboo stick but hasn't bloomed yet.

Thanks Helena. I didn't even notice that Pres Bush made a star.
Your Milky Way is lovely with perfect blooms and I love your indica and
pretty purple star.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Helena those blooms are beautiful. Lucky you get to watch the monarchs hatch.

Gautier, MS

Thanks Jackie and Linda.
Yes, I feel pretty lucky. Have to wait patiently hoping they are doing the change inside those chrysalises.
My only blooms this morning, some other blooms still blooming.

Beautiful blooms Helena. Your tropicals are gorgeous.
I'm getting ready to feed mine
like I should have been doing all along.
I had several mg's open this morning.
The 1st one may be Ehigasa, the pink version of another mg whose name I can;t recall right now,. they also have a sport, Royal Robe which just appears out of the
blue version.
# 2 Weird Saz I still call it that because Karen 2005 listed that name on the pkt of seeds she sent me to grow out one year.
# 3 China doll. this may be the light version out of Helenas seeds, yr 2014
Helena do you think it looks more like Blushing Bride?
# 4 Pres Bush
# 5 Ehigasa and Pres Bush
