"Bringing in the seeds!

ooohh.... now that song is going through my head.....

Everett, WA(Zone 8a)

I don't think it's even off-topic for a gardening forum:

Public domain, by Knowles Shaw in 1874

Sowing in the morning, sowing seeds of kindness,
Sowing in the noontide and the dewy eve;
Waiting for the harvest, and the time of reaping,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves;
Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

Sowing in the sunshine, sowing in the shadows,
Fearing neither clouds nor winter’s chilling breeze;
By and by the harvest, and the labor ended,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves;
Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

Going forth with weeping, sowing for the Master,
Though the loss sustained our spirit often grieves;
When our weeping’s over, He will bid us welcome,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves;
Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

NisiNJ - no I do not have a blueberry scone recipe, that is one of those things I am going to try for Christmas as we will be home. I do, however, have an excellent blueberry muffin recipe if you or anyone else are interested.

We are leaving shortly to meet my In-Laws, so I wanted to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. They wanted to have Thanksgiving at the Casino, so perhaps we will win..... would that not be nice? We will be back tomorrow sometime, so Happy Thanksgiving to All.....

There is absolutely NO THRILL in "online shopping"!!! I've been at it since last night!

(Anita) Fort Wayne, IN(Zone 6a)

Oh no, DirtyGirl! You poor thing! That's the only way to go any more! I can hard stand to grocery shop when its busy. Whoa! When I was 6 months pregnant I went shopping the day before Christmas. I was stuck in the parking lot for several hours. I promised myself I would never punish myself like that again. LoL

I try to do everything i can on line. so much easier.

(Anita) Fort Wayne, IN(Zone 6a)

Yes, if I can get free shipping, flat rate shipping or delivery to the store that's a bonus!

Did everyone have a good holiday? We had a ball! Anyone familiar with the game Pokeno? We always play with the kids for pennies. We all save pennies just for that game. Everyone gets so excited about winning 12 cents. LoL watching my family you would think its 12 million dollars. LoL

Susie is everything okay? Earlier you mentioned needing a fireman. Were you joking?

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

No Joke My Oven Was shooting flames inside it I was cleaning it from the spills yesterday .
turned on the self cleaning , after I got dad & Margarets BKF set the oven to clean it went outside to feed came in for some water in the KITCHEN & It was filled with BLACK Smoke & Flames in the oven .

I turned off the oven tried to get dads shoes on him to get him out but had margaret take him down to my room while i called 911 but when they answers the flames went out in the oven so the guy told me not to open the oven door till it cooled down , but i had to open doors & windows to get all the smoke out.

we are all fine & No damage got lucky . still smells smoky out there & I have burned candles wash things down with vinagar the white stove was black .

I'going to sign off & lay back it has been quite a day Good nite all .

Last year I did all my shopping on-line at WM. I was nice, just walk to the back of the store, I had to wait for 2 people and they had chairs there. Gave her the reciepts and a little while later my cart was ready and out the door I went.

We have a self cleaning oven and will never ever use that feature. I have heard too many stories similar to yours Susie. I'm glad that everything is alright.

Brandon, FL(Zone 9b)

I have a blast doing BLACK FRIDAY shopping... a girlfriend went with me...but she pooped out at 5am....she had to go home..... I got home around 5pm...back of my truck was LOADED.

Took DH 20 minutes just to look thru it all last night....Finally got to bed around 10ish...now I gotta get it all outta the truck and hidden before I take kids to G'mas this afternoon, so I can hit all the mall!!!

The thrill of the hunt continues!!!

(Anita) Fort Wayne, IN(Zone 6a)

LoL good for you, DirtyGirl! I don't want to even go outside.

Susie, I'm glad everything is okay. I made a run the other day on the same type of deal. We couldn t get her oven door open so we moved the entire oven outside. This is the first I have heard of problems with self cleaning ovens. I need to remember that.

Where's the Fat Robin now? Is she in flight?

Deep South, TX(Zone 9b)

It should be in FL and possible land today.

Will probably get home from shopping later and trip over the box shaped like Texas...*LOL*

Susie -

so glad everything is ok. I am sure that was quite a scare! I too have a self cleaning oven. The only time I use that feature though on my oven, is during the summer. I have all my windows and the sliding glass door open so that I don't run into the type of problems you experienced. I also have a sheet of foil covering the bottom of the oven so I can remove alot of the crud. Right now I need to change out the foil as it is full of blueberry pie overflow. I should probably change that out before I start with the Christmas cookies....

Gardenseeder - please send your scone recipe. Can't wait to see it.

Where is the Robin? I have lost track!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. Can't believe Thanksgiving is over.

Corey - 'Bringing in the Seeds' is still going through my head..... you need to come up with a song!

>> Corey - 'Bringing in the Seeds' is still going through my head... you need to come up with a song!

Wish I could, and I've tried, but I can't beat the lyrics I found online.

>>>
Sowing in the morning, sowing seeds of kindness,
Sowing in the noontide and the dewy eve;
Waiting for the harvest, and the time of reaping,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves;
Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

Not a Christmas song but was cute

Inch by inch, row by row
Gonna make this garden grow
Gonna mulch it deep and low
Gonna make it fertile ground

Inch by inch, row by row
Please bless these seeds I sow
Please keep them safe below
'Till the rain comes tumbling down

Pullin' weeds and pickin' stones
We are made of dreams and bones
Need a place to call my own
'Cause the time is close at hand

Grain for grain, sun and rain
Find my way in nature's chain
Till my body and my brain
Tell the music of the land

Brandon, FL(Zone 9b)

I'm an oldie but goody rock 'n roll fan. Although I wasn't so young in 1989 when Tears for Fears released SOWING THE SEEDS OF LOVE.

#####

High time we made a stand & shook up the views of the common man
And the love train rides from coast to coast
DJ's the man we love the most
Could you be, could you be squeaky clean
And smash any hope of democracy
As the headline says you're free to choose
There's egg on your face and mud on your shoes
One of these days they're gonna call in the ruse, yeah

Anything is possible
when you're sowing the seeds of love
Anything is possible
Sowing the seeds of love

I spy tears in their eyes
They look to the skies for some kind of divine intervention
Food goes to waste, so nice to eat, so nice to taste
Politician Granny with your high ideals
Have you no idea how the majority feels
So without love and a promised land
We're fools to the rules of a government plan
Kick out the style, bring back the jam

Sowing the seeds, the birds and the bees, my girlfriend and me in love

Feel the pain, talk about it, if you're a worried man then shout about it
Open hearts, feel about it, open minds, think about it
Everyone read about it, everyone scream about it
Everyone read about it, read about it
Read it in the books in the crannies
And the nooks there are books to read

Oh, the seeds of love
We're sowing the seeds, sowing the seeds

We're sowing the seeds of love. we're sowing the seeds
Sowing the seeds of love, we're sowing the seeds of love

Time to eat all your words, swallow your pride, open your eyes
High time we made a stand

And the love train rides from coast to coast
Every minute of every hour "I Love a Sunflower"
And I believe in love power
Love power, love power

We're sowing the seeds
Sowing the seeds of love, we're sowing the seeds of love
Sowing the seeds, an end to need, and the politics of greed with love.

Anybody besides me rocking and singing along? Or are we still in church Bringing in the Sheaves? LOL, Corey. I'll never get that song out of my head.

Deejay9, is there some background on that song? Is there a particular tune?

Hi all--
Glad everyone's turkey day went well (except for the self-cleaning oven mishap). I've only used that feature on my stove a few times, but will certainly be careful in the future. Eagerly awaiting the arrival of the fat box of seeds...

Tiff Hope you can find time to go through the Robin :) It Might Help you Save some Money at the malls :) HEHE

GOOD Thing Cyber sunday & Cyber Money Falls at the end of the money when my cash Flow is Low :) HEHE
& I Do Not Use CC:S Anymore . Its sad How all these ads have us so Brain washed that we cannot live with out all those electronics . My computor is my all I Need It IS
My PHONE , My TV, My MUSIC PLAYER, I Can read Books < I Can Shop, Why Do we Need all those electronics that we cannot carry around with us all at one time . Nor can we play them at one time

Of course it would be nice if we could just get the computor to FIx MEALS , Do The Laundry , Sweep & Mop :)
Guess I Better go find an app that can send me a maid :)

I went over to my Niece's yesterday & All Three Kids had ear Phones in their ears Each Listening to music or playing a game Not One of them had time to unplug & say hi & I had not seen them since June & we only live
10 miles apart.

Sorry for Rattling on Just one of those days where I Just wish Families Had More time with each other
& didn't have to think they had to keep up with the times that are so far fetched :)

I'm going to go plant some seeds today they say snow is moving in this next week .
Have a great day everyone will be back later .

columbia, TN(Zone 7a)

Talk about the kids with the electronics. I've done day care for 30 years and this generation of kids is unbelievable. It will be interesting to see what they are like as adults.

(Anita) Fort Wayne, IN(Zone 6a)

I agree with you all. My son was home for the holiday. We went grocery shopping and the entire time he was looking down at his phone. I finally told him either help me shop or you won't eat for the holiday. We were done shopping in the next 5 minutes. LoL It seems like this generation of kids will be technilogically saavy but will lack social skills. It is easier to type on a computer than to look people in the eyes and hold a conversation.

also easier to type than to write a letter. i dont think anyone does that anymore, i dont even think children learn how to write letters in school.

Athens, PA

It goes further than that. I know when I was growing up, we were always told we had to write our Thank you notes after occasions such as birthdays or Christmas. My mother would sit us all down and we had to stay there until those thank yous were finished. My mother in law still sends out Thank yous, but other than that, I cannot remember the last time I have received a written thank you.
